I'm not sure if they got the years mixed up or perhaps it is correct. Thanks Sharon August Relief Report It Shows Over $29,000 Paid In Benefits During August The August report of the Pennsylvania Voluntary Relief Department was issued from the office of the Superintendent, at Trenton, N. J., September 16, and shows that the total receipts paid out during the month of August, an increase of $2,000 over the July report. The total benefits paid out during August amounted to $20,273,55. This sum was distributed as follows: Four deaths, $14,000; for accidents, $4,709.15; and for sickness $10,564.10. The number of death benefits paid from February 15,1886, to date are 831; number of accident benefits paid from February 15,1886, 11,870; and the number of sick benefits paid from February 15, 1886, 25,322. Death benefits in course of adjustment, in addition to the above 26; funeral expenses and part payments; in addition to the above($200.05) 2; accident and sick benefits in course of adjustment in addition to the above, 30; cases of disablement by accident and sickness continued beyond August 31,1889; 709. Payments on the divisions of deaths, accidents and sickness were as follows: Pennsylvania Railroad Division, $16,184.25; United Railroads of New Jersey Division, $3,362.05; Philadelphia and Erie Railroad Division, $6,089.40; Northern Central Railway,$2,097.45; West Jersey Railroad $92.20; Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad $1,358.60. No benefits were paid out either for accident, sickness or death on the Camden and Atlantic Railroad or the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad during the month. Death benefits were paid to Benjamin F. Kline, watchman, $260; George Lehner, laborer, $250; and to Henry Toelke, cabinetmaker, $250; of the Altoona shops. To Edgar Hamilton, brakeman, $500; to Harry A. Fry, brakeman, $1,000; and to John C. Ryan, conductor, $750, of the Philadelphia Division. To John Bonsell, watchman, $250 of the Middle Division. To Chas. A. Stetler, operator, $250,.of the Tyrone Division. To W. J. Byler, brakeman, $750; Henry Rieck, cooper, $500; T. McCoy, brakeman, $500; and to John J. O'Brien, clerk, $750; of the Pittsburg Division, P. R. R. There were ninety-five sick benefits, twenty-seven accident benefits paid out to members of the fund in the Altoona shops, and fourteen sick and three accident benefits to members of the Altoona Division during the month.
