HUNTINGDON MEN PRESENT The 23rd annual reunion of the 49th Regiment Pa. Volunteers was held at mt. Union Thursday and Friday of last week. Fifty-one survivors of the regiment were in attendance, many coming from western states. Calvin Walker and John C. Westbrook, of this place, were present and participated in the celebration. Thursday morning, afternoon and Friday morning business sessions were held. On Thursday evening the Old Soldiers were treated to an entertainment. The Mount Union Band and orchestra furnishing the music for the occasion. Fourteen members of the Regiment died during the year. The names of the deceased follow: William Atter, David Foltz, Christian Couts, Hugh Marshall, Joseph Bebarger, John Sipe, George Sipe, George W. Eichelberger, David Lyberger, Josiah L. Barton, George W. Miller, Wm. McAllevy, Chas. F. Frain, Lewis F. Bruner, Robert Couch (only reported so) and General Oliver Edwards. Resolutions were framed and read by the obituary committee. Officers for the ensuing year were elected and Gettysburg was chosen as the next place for the reunion. New Era Journal, Wednesday, November 2, 1904
