(Altoona, Pa.) February 7, 1861 Mr. Joseph Cunningham, a young student at Law in the office of Scott, Brown & Corbin, died on Monday last from having swallowed a part of the “wish bone” of a chicken, at the Warm Springs, on the Monday evening previous. He complained from the moment he got it into his throat, but the Doctors would not believe it, until he coughed it up on Sunday. Inflammation of the throat took place, and finally mortification, and on Monday morning he breathed his last. The Doctors say he had every symptom of pneumonia. He was kind, generous and was universally esteemed by those who knew him. — Hunt.
