All but two of them left security for a hearing. Two men and a woman were captured on Saturday night under the Seventh street bridge. They had been “rushing the can” and all were considerably under the influence of beer. Charley Doak was arrested on Saturday charged with fighting. He injured himself about the head by butting it against the iron door of his cell on Saturday night. James Kelley was arrested by Constable Miller on Saturday morning and at a hearing before Alderman Raymond, was held for court for larceny by _____. The prosecutor in the case is Paris Englebearth. He owns a road cart, which his father, Emanuel, loaned Kelley. Emanuel Englebearth owes Kelley; a bill and the latter kept the cart in payment of the same. G. A. W. Arnholt, the brewer, who was recently sold out by Sheriff Bell, was arrested in Philadelphia on Saturday on the charge of perjury. The information was made before Alderman Doyle by a Pittsburg firm which had dealings with Arnholt. The accused was placed under arrest by Constable James McFeeley of this city and entered bail for his appearance before Alderman Doyle on Wednesday. On Saturday morning Constable George Tate arrested an Italian named Frank Grebs, who is wanted in Huntingdon on a serious charge, preferred by Ida Snyder of that place. Constable Tate placed his prisoner in the city lockup where he remained until an officer arrived from Huntingdon in the afternoon when he was taken back to that town for trial. Fabe Drumgold who was brought from Johnstown last Friday by Constable Tate to answer to the charge of malicious mischief preferred by Dolly Tracy, alias Bess Smith, was discharged by Alderman Stephens for want of evidence to convict him. Harry H. Ashkins will be accorded a hearing before Alderman Blake this afternoon on charge of assault and battery preferred by his wife, Ida Ashkins. At the mayor’s office Alderman Doyle gave hearings to two of the women arrested Saturday night and in default of the fines were sent below. The city license cases are up before Mayor Hoyer this afternoon and a number of prominent merchants will resist the payment of the tax. It is not probable that anything will be done in the matter until the supreme court hands down a decision in similar cases now before it.
