Elizabeth "Libby" RODDY, 95, of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown, formerly of South Wayne Street, Lewistown, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at the nursing home. Born Feb. 2, 1908, in McVeytown, she was a daughter of the late Samuel R. and Mary (French) Stine. She was mated to Raymond W. Roddy who preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1984. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mary Margaret "Peggy") Dean, Lewistown; two grandchildren, Roddy Lee Dean and wife, Louise. Sterling. Va., and Allen R. Dean and wife, Kim, Durham, NC.: and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Roddy was a member of Grove Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewistown, where she was a member of the Live Wire Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will he held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. D. Gregory Lake officiating. Interment will be made in Juniata Memorial Park. Lewistown. Patricia J. TURNER, 65, of 110 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, passed on at 6:05 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, at her home, following an extended illness. Born June 15, 1937, in Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Carl S. and Grace J. (Heaster) Morder. She was united in marriage to Milton "Red" Turner, July 24, 1976, in Winchester, Va. Mr. Turner preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1987. She is survived by the following children; Carl "Steve" Morder, Sharon G. Fortson and Pamela A. Mitchell all of Mount Union; Wilbert S. Beaston, Kannapolis, NC.; and Susan Beaston, Charles S. Beaston, Robert D. Beaston, Tina M. Spriggs, Dena M. Beaston, Carl S. Beaston, Dawn M. Clymans, Ronald R. Beaston, Richard W. Turner and Robert D. Turner, all of Mount Union. There are 32 grandchildren 27 great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister survive; Donald R. Morder of Alexandria, and Carol A. (Morder) Gilbert of Mount Union. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Donald Cramer Jr., and one brother, Richard Morder. She was a homemaker who loved her grandchildren, fishing and flowers. Lillian Elizabeth BARD, 79, of 307 Country Club Road, Mount Union, died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Westminster Woods. Huntingdon. Born Oct. 18, 1923, in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Bertha (Whitsel) Booher. She married Max H. Bard Aug. 20, 1952, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Bard preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1994. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Richard K. (Marilyn) Ellis of Aurora, Col., and two grandsons, Bryan and Kevin Ellis. Five sisters survive; Verna M. Eberman, Mount Union; Hazel A. Faust, Denver, Col.; Mrs. Duane (Thelma R.) Drake, Mount Union, R.R. 1: Mrs. Paul (Helen L.) Miller, Cornwall; and M. Jane Stewart, Lancaster. She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters; Linnie M. Booher, John B. Booher, Mildred V. Booher, Elmer Booher, Grace Hardy, and an infant brother, Samuel Booher. Mrs. Bard was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. She was a graduate of Mount Union High School and Shippensburg State Teachers College. She taught first grade 18 years. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Robert Davidson officiating. Interment will be made in Mount Union Cemetery. Harriet Catherine McCALL, 94, of 120 Aspen Lane and formerly of Hesston, died at 8:40 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, in J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born July 18, 1908, in Penn Township, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Emanuel and Catharine Widner Norris. For more than 80 years, she was a member of Jacob's Church, Hesston, where she was a Sunday school teacher and active in the Ladies' Aid Society. She attended Penn Township public schools. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and flowers, often providing flowers for the church. She also enjoyed studying genealogy and her family history. Her husband, Glenn M. McCall, whom she married Dec. 14, 1934, in Huntingdon, died Sept. 12, 1972. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Olive E. Garner; and four brothers, Hiram J. Norris, Philip C. Norris. William H. Norris and Chalmer E. Norris. Surviving are a son, Ronald M. (husband of Dorothy J.) of Shippensburg; a daughter, Ruby J. Shearburn of Hesston; three grandchildren; two brothers, Donald E. Norris of Everett and Homer S. Norris of Huntingdon; and a sister, Lilian M. Hurley of Petersburg. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Jacob's Church, Hesston, with the Rev. H. Lloy Blattenberger officiating. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery, Hesston. Edward R. GENSIMORE, 78, of Centre Hall, died on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Centre Community Hospital. Born on Dec. 22, 1924, in rural Tyrone, he was a son of the late Calvin and Mae Bousum Gensimore. On May 23, 1947, he married Laura May Trimble, who died Jan. 4, 2000. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall. He belonged to the Centre Hall Lions Club and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, in Bellefonte. He was also a former member of Centre Hall Borough Council. He owned and operated Gensimore Trucking until his retirement. He is survived by one daughter, Leslie May Stevens, and her husband, Kenneth, of Exeter, Calif.; four sons, Daniel E. Gensimore and his wife, Connie, of rural Centre Hall, Barry L. Gensimore and his wife, Darcy, of Rebersburg, Nevin W. Gensimore and his wife, Kathy, of Houserville, and Bradley S. Gensimore and his wife, Mindy K., of Centre Hall; and 11 grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Donald Gensimore. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, 127 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with the Rev. Dan J. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, in Centre Hall. Paul SITCH, 74, of 3770 W. Main St., Belleville, died at 2 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital, Lewistown. Born June 21, 1928, in Carbon Township, Huntingdon County. he was a son of the late John and Katie (Worhalic) Sitch. He was united in marriage to the former F Emmagene Metz March 18, 1949. Mrs. Sitch preceded him in death Feb. 2, 2003. Two sons survive; Paul C. Sitch, Colonial Heights, Va., and Kenneth G. Sitch, Belleville. Five grandchildren survive; Jackie Sitch, Richard Sitch, Phillip Sitch, Daniel Sitch and Joshua Sitch. He is also survived by one sister, Katie Sitch of Wood. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet J. Sitch; three brothers; Wesco Sitçh, George Sitch and John Sich Jr.; and by three sisters, Mary Zanylo, Helen Sitch and Ann Blau. Mr. Sitch was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Belleville. He retired from New Holland, Belleville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. April 6 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Lois Martin officiating. Interment will be made in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Marie A. (Gates) DZIOB, 49, of House of Care, 515 W. Beaver Ave., State College, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Centre Community Hospital, College Twp., State College. She has been in failing health for the past year. Born Sept. 5, 1953, in Roaring Spring, she was a daughter of Harold C. Sr. and Audrey (Helsel) Gates who survive in Little Valley, Saxton. She is survived by two sons: Jerami C. Dziob, Spring City, and Gabriel S. Dziob, Little Valley, Saxton; one granddaughter, Tessa Margaret Dziob, and one grandson, Gabriel K. Dziob. Two sisters survive: Shirley A. Gates, Shenandoah, and Evelyn Elizabeth Gates, Little Valley, Saxton. One brother, Harold C. Gates Jr., preceded her in death. Mrs. Dziob was of the Protestant faith. She attended Norristown High School. For a number of years, she had been employed at Seton, Saxton; and at Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg. She enjoyed her flower garden and was especially fond of her grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home, Railroad Avenue and Broad Street, Broad Top City, with Pastor Steve Oberman officiating. Interment will be private. Bradley W. GROSS, 34, of Huntingdon Furnace Road, Tyrone, R.R. 4, died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003, as a result of injuries received in an accident at M&B Lumber, Tyrone. Born March 23, 1969, in Altoona, he was the son of Alfred Gross of Barree and Beverly (Golden) Gross of Tyrone, who both survive. He is also survived by a son, Brandon of Tyrone; two sisters, Hollie Langford of Shewsbury and Danielle Harris of Tyrone and his fiancee, Joey Ieraci of Tyrone. Mr. Gross was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Tyrone. He was a 1987 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He was a truck driver and worked at the sawmill for M&B Lumber. An avid hunter, he also enjoyed racing cars and spending time with his son. Funeral services were held today, April 8, at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone, with the Rev. David Shultzaberger officiating. Donald E. GARBER, 56, of Back Alley, Barree, Porter Twp., died at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, April 6, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Jan. 26, 1947, in Barree, he was a son of the late Charles and Bessie (Fink) Garber. He was united in marriage to the former Verna Mae Beck Dec. 26, 1974. Mrs. Garber survives at their residence. He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Robert (Cheryl J.) Crawford, Broadway, Va.; Patricia Ann Hottinger, Grottoes, Va.; Mrs. Marvin (Debra K.) Garver, Hesston; and Mae Louise Lear, Mount Jackson, Va.; Four grandsons; Robert Lear, Travis William Crawford, Stanley Smith and Brian Dean Garber; one granddaughter, Tabatha Faith Lear-Foley; one great-granddaughter, Dystiny Nicole Lear and one great-grandson, Damon Michael Lear. Five brothers and one sister survive: Robert Garber, Huntingdon; Issac Garber and Charles Garber, both of Barree; Richard Garber, Huntingdon; Marvin Garber, Hesston; and Jane Zepp, Manchester, Md. He is also survived by two nieces. Mr. Garber faithfully attended and enjoyed the many activities at Calvary Bible Church, Alexandria. He attended the Alexandria public schools. He had worked at various jobs as a laborer in the construction industry. An avid clock collector, he also enjoyed repairing small engines. He was a lifetime resident of Barree, Porter Twp. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main St., Alexandria, with Pastor Mike Stutzenbrug and Dr. Theodore Kiffer officiating. Interment will be made in Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Jesse J. REED, 96, formerly of Shirleysburg, died at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, April 6, 2003, at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. He had been in failing health. Born Aug. 24, 1906, in Shirley Twp., Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Sylvester and Mary (Banks) Reed. He was twice married: first to the former Charlotte Estep, who preceded him in death, then to the former Margaret Grace (Stapleton) Shontz, who preceded him in death in 1973. He is also survived by three stepchildren: William F. Shontz, Mount Union; Susan Shofestal, Falls Creek; and John Shontz, Forest Hills, Md. In addition, he was also preceded in death by a half sister, Maree Heck. One sister, Mrs. Bruce (Lena) Garver, survives at Shirleysburg. He was preceded in death by two sons: Jesse Ernest Reed in 1993 and Clyde H. Reed in 1975; and three brothers: Clarence Reed, Preston Reed and William Reed. Mr. Reed was of the Protestant faith. For a number of years he was employed at Harbison-Walker Refractories in Mount Union. He was also a woodsman and lumberman for much of his life. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, with the Rev. Jim Hullihen officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Dr. Harry H. "Hal" DINSMORE SR., 79, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born March 7, 1924, in Patton, and reared in Heilwood, he was a son of the late William Arthur and Grace (Monteith) Dinsmore. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan (Evans) Dinsmore of Punxsutawney. He is also survived by four sons and one daughter: David N. Dinsmore and wife, Deanna, Burlington, Wash.; Mrs. Mike (Cathryn Ann "Nan") Dinsmore Ellis, Concord, N.C.; Harry H. Dinsmore Jo., M.D. and wife, Vicki, St. College; Robert W. Dinsmore and wife, Patricia, Punxsutawney; and John E. Dinsmore M.D. and wife, Kristin, Fresno, Calif. One sister and one brother also survive: Helen D. Elliott, Huntingdon; and Ray Dinsmore, Punxsutawney. He also leaves to mourn his passing nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was perceded in death by two brothers: William A. Dinsmore M.D. and Alexander M. Dinsmore; one sister, Cathryn Ann (Dinsmore) Stahl; and one infant daughter, Elizabeth Dinsmore. Dr. Dinsmore was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Punxsutawney. He was board certified in general surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He attended Pine twp. high School and graduated from Morgantown High School, Morgantown, W.Va. He completed his pre-medical requirements at West Virginia University and graduated from Georgetown Medical School, Washington D.C., in 1948. He did his internship at Bethesda Naval Hospital and his surgical training at the Naval Hospital, Philadelphia. Dr. Dinsmore served in Vietnam during 1966-1967 as chief of surgery at the Naval Support Activity Hospital, DaNang, Vietnam. He returned to Bethesda Naval Hospital and retired from the Navy in November 1967. During his tenure in the United States Navy, he was highly decorated for both his skill and bravery. He was awarded the Navy's highest medal, the Navy Cross for service and valor above and beyond the call of duty in the Vietnam War. He was also awarded the National Defense Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, American Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Victory Medal (World War II), Navy Occupation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star which was the Highest Vietnamese award. He opened his private practice in Punxsutawney in November 1967 and faithfully served the community with dedication and commitment until his retirement in January 1991. His level of skill and concern for the well being of the community brought a new level of modern medicine to the Punxsutawney area. He will be remembered fondly by his former patients and colleagues. He had an abiding love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking through the woods of western Pennsylvania. He was a quiet and thoughtful man, a generous and living father and husband. He gave his last full measure to all he undertook and he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Presbyterian Church, Punxsutawney, with the Rev. Kent E. Holmes officiating. Interment will be made in Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney, where full military honors will be accorded. Larry W. JOHNSON, 57, of 2326 W. Main St., Middletown, died Monday, April 7, 2003, in the Frey Village Nursing Center, Middletown. Born Dec. 26, 1945 in Saxton he was the son of the late Jacob H. and Millicent (Weimert) Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Joanne M. (Clark) Johnson; one daughter, Jennifer A. McNamara, Middletown, one son, Jeremy W. Johnson, Elizabethtown; and three grandchildren; Justin McNamara, and Gwyneth and Jessica Johnson. One sister, Suzanne Kegarise of Manheim, survives. Mr. Johnson was a member of Valley Baptist Church, Middletown. He was a member of the Hummelstown Field and Stream Association. A former employee of the former Fruehauf Corp., Middletown, he also worked in the maintenance dept. at Hershey Chocolate Co. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and camping. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the Matinchek and Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Middletown, with the Rev. Jerry T. Cowan, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in Middletown Cemetery. Verna A. (Browell) GRACE, 91, of Hopewell, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg. She had been in failing health for the past two months. Born July 18, 1911, in Hopewell, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Cornelia (Evans) Browell. She was united in marriage to Clifford E. Grace, Nov. 30, 1932, at Bedford Methodist Church. Mr. Grace preceded her in death June 16, 1985. She is survived by seven children: Janet Skipper; Mrs. Harry (Ruth) O'Neal; Mrs. Oscar (Sally) Griffith; Wilday and wife, Virginia (Blake) Grace; William and wife, Sharon (Smith) Grace; John and wife, Mary (Seigrist) Grace; and Larry Grace, all of Hopewell. One daughter-in-law, Jean Emily (Smith) Grace, survives in Everett. There are 21 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. She was also preceded in death by one son, James C. Grace; one granddaughter and great-great-granddaughter. Mrs. Grace was a life member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. She was a Republican Committee woman for Bedford County for 40 years. She was a member of the Hopewell Area Senior Citizens. A graduate of Hopewell High School, she was a member of the Class of 1928. She was primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed listening to music. Interment will be made in Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery. Gladys C. WRIGHT, 94, formerly of HCR 1 Calvin, died at 1:40 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born Feb. 2, 1909, in Todd Twp., Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Nettie (Saylor) Wilson. She was married to Walter G. Wright Oct. 1, 1925. Mr. Wright preceded her in death July 24, 1981. She is survived by three sons: Bernard E. Wright, Calvin; and W. Glenn Wright and Gene T. Wright, both of Cassville. There are eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lois Wright; two sisters, Lenore Markey and Valetta Taylor; one brother, Melvin Wilson; and one great-grandson. Mrs. wright was the last surviving member of the Trough Creek Valley Baptist Church, Calvin. She retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, following 26 years service. She was well-known for her angel food cakes, made from scratch for many in the county. Along with her family, she made homemade apple butter for the Cassville Oktoberfest for two decades. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, with the Rev. James Thomas officiating. Interment will be made in the Trough Creek Valley Baptist Cemetery, Calvin. Guy M. FLASHER, 72, of 133 W. Vandevender St., Mount Union, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at his home, following a brief illness. Born Feb. 13, 1931, in Mount Union, he was a son of the late Clair and Jessie (Price) Flasher. He was united in marriage to the former Sherry L. Warnick Jan. 27, 1951, in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Flasher survives at their home. Three daughters and one son survive: Mrs. Richard (Pamela) Williams, Everett; and Mrs. David (Amy) Moore, Jon Flasher and Mrs. Joseph (Lisa) Hicks, all of Mount Union. There are seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren surviving. Four sisters and one brother survive: Edna Park, Mrs. Richard (Althea) Forsythe, Betty Walker, Mrs. Frank (Jesse) Pollicino and Clair Flasher Jr., all of Mount Union. He was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Cecil Flasher, Helen Rose Flasher, Elizabeth Reuse, Russel Flasher and Allen Flasher. Mr. Flasher was of the Protestant faith. He graduated from Mount Union High School with the Class of 1949. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He was an owner operator, along with Gerald Bumgardner, of Bumgardner and Flasher Oil since 1989 and had been delivering fuel oil since 1953. He retired from the oil business in 1995. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved cats and dogs. He especially enjoyed sports, having played in the Huntingdon City Softball League for many years and also for the Townhill baseball team as well. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, with the Rev. Rod Uhlig and the Rev. Richard Williams officiating. Sara Jane SELLERS, 91, of 857 Hillside Drive, Camp Hill, and a former Tyrone resident, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Select Hospital, Camp Hill. Born Nov. 20, 1911, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Fannie (Montgomery) Kearney. On Aug. 21, 1936, in Altoona, she was married to Byron Sheldon Sellers who preceded her in death June 17, 1984. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Mrs. Gary (Donna) Crowell of Camp Hill, with whom she had made her home for a number of years: Pete Sellers of Huntingdon; and Judith Ann Sellers of Key West, Fla. There are eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Two brothers survive: Robert Kearney, Hollidaysburg; and Charles Kearney, Sacramento, Calif. she was preceded in death by three brothers. Mrs. Sellers was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Tyrone. She was a graduate of Altoona High School. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, April 11, at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., 115 W. Tenth St., Tyrone, with the Rev. Charles A Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will be made in Blair Memorial Park. Frances A. MILLER, 86, of P.O. Box 82, Mapleton, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born June 26, 1916, in Alexandria, she was a daughter of the late Newton and Ruth (Anderson) Brenneman. She was twice married: First to Howard James Estep who preceded her in death Aug. 6, 1951; then to Merle M. Miller who preceded her in death Jan. 20, 1991. She is survived by eight children: Jeanette M. Banks, Mill Creek; Thelma L. Myers, Newton Hamilton; Rosalind M. Ward, Mill Creek; Judy A. Gilbert, Mount Union; James H. Estep, Star Route, Huntingdon; Kay S. Wiser, Orbisonia; Joyce D. Bollinger, Mill Creek; and Betty E. Puchalo, Waynesboro. There are 40 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren. Four sisters survive: Martha McCartney and Doris Abrashoff, both of Mount Union; Alice Kern, Petersburg; and Rene Bunn, Altoona. She was preceded in death by two daughters: Evelyn E. Port and Carol Estep and by four brothers and nine sisters. At one time she was a member of the Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Home Association of the Mapleton American Legion. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Robert E. Myron James DAVID, 74, of Water street, Cassville, died Thursday morning, April 10, 2003, at the Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center, Ft. Myers. Fla. Born June 30, 1928, in Union Twp., he was the son of the late Leroy and Margaret (Arnold) David. He was married to Cora (Mansberger) David on Sept. 23, 1950. Mrs. David survives at their home. Mr. David is survived by one daughter, Kandi David-Meece of Cassville and two grandsons, Jordan and Morgan. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister: Harold David of McConnelstown, Charles David of Womelsdorf, and Eva Chilcote of Mill Creek. Two brothers, John and Clyde, and one sister, Ethel, preceded him in death. Mr. David attended the Church of God. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army. Mr. David was a charter member of the Trough Creek Valley Fire Company. He owned and operated a plumbing and heating business in the Cassvile area for many years. PALMER JR., 67, of 65 Covered Bridge Road, Newburg, died unexpectedly at 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Three Springs. He was born on July 12, 1935, in New York City, N.Y., the son of the late Walter E. and Evelyn (Minck) Palmer. He was first married to Dorothy (Slocum) Palmer, who preceded him in death. His second marriage was to Mary (Casner) Palmer, who survives and resides at their home. There are eight children surviving. They are: Grace Cotton, Chambersburg; Michele Lilley, Ambridge; Anne Hooper, Shirleysburg; Joan Brown, Baltimore, Md.; Kathy Pearson, Eastern Shore, Md.; Carol Shore, McConnellsburg; Phillip Palmer, Shade Gap. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two sisters, Anne Palmer of Greenville,S.C., and Jeanne Cieslik of Rosemond, Calif., also survive. Two children preceded Mr. Palmer in death. Mr. Palmer was a member of Green Springs Brethren in Christ Church, Newville, where he was a member of the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class. He was a self-employed trucker, operating W.P. Enterprises in Three Springs. He has over 40 years of service in trucking. MADDEN, 91, a resident of Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg for the past two years and formerly of Hustontown, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Menno Haven. She was born Nov. 7, 1911 in Hustontown, the daughter of the late Ira Loraine Madden and Cora Belle (Wible) Madden. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sheldon L. and Donald Madden, and two sisters, Nanny E. (Madden) Gaster and Estilene G. (Madden) Fischer. She was a life member of Center United Methodist Church. She worked as a school teacher in Taylor Twp. for 44 years. She was born Aug. 5, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur and Jean Ann (Wurts) Engle. She was united in marriage to Perry Phillips June 17, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nev. Her husband survives, along with the following children: Lewis Michaud, Worcester, Mass.; Gary L. Michaud, John T. Michaud and Russell A. Michaud, all of Williamsport; Lu Ann Michaud, St. Leonard, Md.; Anna Marie Michaud, Forestville, Md.; and Marilyn Theresa Hocker, Mount Union. There are four step-children who survive and live out of state. Also surviving are a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born Jan. 2, 1926, in Tyrone, she was a daughter of the late Lee Ernest and Ethel Irene (McCormick) Fleck. She was married to Domer E. Burns May 18, 1947, at the First English Lutheran Church, Tyrone. Mr. Burns survives. She is also survived by one daughter and one son: Sondra K. Varner and her husband, Terry, of State College; and David L. Burns and his wife, Joyce, of Pennsylvania Furnace. Four grandchildren survive: Erin and Alyssa Burns, Eric Toggart and Curtis Varner. "Al" CONNER SR., 72, of Mount Union, died at approximately 11:20 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at his home in Hill Valley. Born Oct. 10, 1930, in Cromwell Twp., Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Charles and Kathryn (Flickinger) Conner. He was united in marriage to the former Mary A. Welch Nov. 9, 1953, in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Conner survives. He is also survived by five daughters and one son: Mrs. Tom (Mary Jane) Williams, McVeytown; Mrs. Bob (Ima Jean) Heintz, North Fort Myers, Fla.; Mrs Robert J. (Bonnie G.) Miller and Alfred J. "Joe" Conner Jr., both of Huntingdon; Mrs. Chris (Grace) Davis, McConnellstown; and Mrs. Michael (Linda) Wagner, Williamsburg. There are 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and seven sisters: Charles Conner, Cassville; Robert Conner, Star Route, Huntingdon; Betty Richkabaugh, Cassville; Jane Stake, Lancaster; Nancy Runk, Broad Top City; Dorothy Conner, Hesston; Laura Neff, Lancaster, Kathryn Blair, Calvin; Helen Garber, Lancaster; Richard Conner, Cassville; and Frank "Pete" Conner, Mount Union. He was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Conner, who was killed in action during World War II, and an infant brother. Mr. Conner attended Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Huntingdon. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in action. He spent three years as a prisoner of war in North Korea. A farmer and machinist for much of his life, he was most recently employed at the former Elco Manufacturing Co., Huntingdon. SIMONE, 67, a resident of Naples, Fla., for nine years and of Huntingdon for the past year, formerly of Allison Park, died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003, in Naples, Fla. He was born May 22, 1935, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Samuel and Josephine (Spearline) Simone. He married Lois Mennow April 11, 1964, at the Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Russellton. He is survived by his wife at the couple's Huntingdon residence and by two sons and their wives: Bernard S. Jr. and Kim Simone of Fort Collins, Colo., and Dr. Michael A. and Kimberly Simone of Huntingdon. Two grandchildren, Giovanni Francis Simone and Ava Marie Simone, both of Fort Collins, Colo., survive. Mr. Simone was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Allegheny Lodge No. 339, Pittsburgh, for 25 years. He graduated from Allegheny High School, Pittsburgh, in the Class of 1953 and attended the University of Pittsburgh where he studied mechanical drafting. A private in the U.S. Army Reserves, he served with the 332 Transportation Group from 1958-1964. He worked for several years in the Pittsburgh area as a mechanical draftsman, retiring in 1994. She was married to Mendell Morrison in Louisville, Ky., in 1937. Mr. Morrison preceded her in death June 30, 1965. She is survived by one daughter, Gay Lea Ayyagari, Baldwin, Md. Mary Weber "Sunny" ENGLE, 94, the wife of former Penn State football coach Charles "Rip" Engle, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Brookline Village State College. She was born Dec. 21, 1908, in Easton. She is survived by one son, Charles B. "Chip" Engle, two grandsons and two great-grandsons. A 1929 graduate of Western Maryland, she married her husband that same year. He was a 1930 Western Maryland graduate. Mr. Engle died in State College March 7, 1983. Mrs. Engle was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, State College. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Antiquists Club. She did graduate work at University Paris 1 -- The Pantheon Sorbonne, and for several years taught French in schools in Waynesboro, when her husband was the football coach at Waynesboro High School. She had been a resident of State College since 1950, when her husband was named the Nittany Lions' 13th head football coach after a successful tenure at Brown. MILLER, 57, of Birdhaven Place, McVeytown, died at 5:35 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2003, at his home. Born March 28, 1946, in Mount Union, he was a son of Chester A. and Eunice I. (Esh) Miller. His father survives at Meadowview Manor, McVeytown. His mother preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Donna M. (Rhodes) Miller. He is survived by his wife at home, his mother in Williamsburg and two daughters, Mrs. Steven (Barbara) Ryzner of Alexandria and Diana Hoffer of Petersburg. His granddaughter, Megan Russler, currently a student at Penn State University, was reared in the Hoffer home. He is survived by three brothers and six sisters: Roy Hoffer Jr., Spring Mills; Ron Hoffer, Petersburg; Larry Hoffer, Somerset; Delores Weaver, Bellefonte; Mrs. Roy (Dorothy) Sweely, Spring Mills; Janet Hoffer, Milroy; Mrs. Dean ( Gloria) Dick, Alexandria; Mrs. Gene (Bonnie) Shade, Huntingdon; and Mrs. Randy (Darlene) Dick, Petersburg. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Munzek, and a brother, Ricky Hoffer. Mr. Hoffer was a lifetime resident of West Twp and attended Petersburg public schools. He worked for Hickes Construction Company as a fencing installer until he was injured and retired on disability in 1985. He had also worked as a maintenance manager for an apartment complex in State College for nine years, for the West Twp. road departments and on local farms in the Petersburg area. Before his accident, Mr. Hoffer was an avid hunter. He was a skilled carpenter and a wood crafter, known throughout the valley as a helping hand to many people and to many projects. Mary Gertrude STEELE, 78, of 2 W. 11th St., Tyrone, died Tuesday morning, April 15, 2003, at Life Care Hospital, Wilkinsburg. She was born Feb. 19, 1925, at Manor Hill, the daughter of the late James Alexander and Annie J. (Hoffman) Hoffer. She was united in marriage to Ellsworth J. Steele, Dec. 1, 1943, in Tyrone. Mr. Steele preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1988. She is survived by one daughter, Mary C. Steele of Tyrone; three sons, Robert J. Steele and Martin B. Steel, both of Tyrone, and Ernest L. Steele of Hanover; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A brother, William Hoffer of Sinking Valley, survives. Robert William RANCK, 75, of Cameo Drive, Fayetteville, died at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg. Born Jan. 11, 1928, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Oscar W. and Veda (Heefner) Ranck. He married Patricia M. Wilson Dec. 29, 1951. He is survived by his wife at home; two sons, Robert Ranck of Newburg and Timothy L. Ranck of Chambersburg; and by three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Veda) Trump III of Chambersburg, Mrs. Nicholas (Susan) Unger of Fayetteville and Mrs. Scott (Day) Wagner of Chambersburg. Clifford "Junior" RICKABAUGH, 77, of Huntingdon Manor, formerly of Robertsdale, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2003, at Huntingdon Manor. Born in Cookstown Oct. 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Kelly and Agnes (Jones) Smith. He was united in marriage to the former Justine Scitticatt. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Wanda Swope and Mary Ann Lane, both of Robertsdale; four sons, Clifford Rickabaugh, Pittsburgh, Richard Rickabaugh and David Rickabaugh, both of Robertsdale, and Brian Rickabaugh, Coalmont; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Anna Difibaugh, was reared in Mr. Rickabaugh's home. Two brothers, Veryl Smith of Robertsdale and James Rickabaugh, Middletown, survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Chester Rickabaugh, and a brother, Robert Rickabaugh. Mr. Rickabaugh was affiliated with the Robertsdale Church of God. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon (one star), the Pacific Theater Ribbon (two stars), the American Theatre Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He worked as a coal miner and during his life, enjoyed maintaining the church and parsonage lawn. Full military honors will be accorded. Betty R. LEONARD, 69, of Saltillo, died at 4:18 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2003, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg. Born Feb. 5, 1934, in Union Twp., Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrtle (Crownover) Prough. She was united in marriage to George B. Leonard Sept. 17, 1955, in Norristown. Mr. Leonard preceded her in death Sept. 22, 1999. She is survived by five children: David Leonard, Celia Allen, Larry Leonard and Roger Leonard, all of Saltillo, and Karen Smith of Burnt Cabins; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Born Nov. 30, 1918, in McVeytown, she was the daughter of the late Howard C. and Nannie A. (Moist) Renninger. She was united in marriage to David E. Booher April 5, 1945, in Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her husband May 8, 1974. Born July 2, 1928, in Finleyville, Broad Top Twp., Bedford County, he was the son of the late Charles and Emma (Winters) Brown. He was united in marriage to the former Ora P. Leonard Jan. 16, 1954, in Saltillo. Mrs. Brown preceded him in death Dec. 12, 2001. He is survived by one son, Larry Brown of Robertsdale; four daughters: Janet Ramper of Robertsdale, Sandra Neville of Wells Tannery, Brenda Ramper of Broad Top City and Sharon Hicks of Calvin; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was born March 30, 1917, in Tyrone, the daughter of Fay V. and Emma Jane (Harris) Little. In 1932, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Reinschmidt in Tyrone. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Beverly Shenefelt and her husband, William, and Nancy Schlueter, all of Spruce Creek; two sons, Frank D. Reinschmidt of Spruce Creek and Robert R. Reinschmidt of Tyrone; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Darren "Kip" Shenefelt and Todd Schlueter. Born March 9, 1919, at Wood, Bedford County, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Fulton) Jones. He was twice married: first to Violet M. Ritchey who preceded him in death; then to the former Helen M. Duvall Sept. 15, 1973. He is survived by his wife at home; a son, Jim Jones and his wife, Jeanette, of Aurora, Ohio; a daughter, Sally Sheeder and her husband, Max, of New Grenada; a stepdaughter, Kathy Dell and her husband, Gary, of Cassville; a stepson, Martin Brunner and his wife, Maxine, of Mapleton; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Chestnut St., Lancaster, died Saturday April 19, 2003, at Essa Flory Hospice Center following a brief illness. Born Sept. 28, 1921, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Luella (Archey) Hoffman. He is survived by a sister, Mary Jane Lightner of Alexandria, and a niece, Regina A. Ormsby of Petersburg. Mr. Hoffman was a member of Lancaster Elks Lodge No. 134 and life member of American Legion Post 150 in Petersburg. A veteran of World War II, He retired as master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Mr. Hoffman was employed as manager at the former Van Sciver Furniture Store in Lancaster. He served as house manager at the Fulton Opera House in Lancaster for 25 years and was instrumental in the theater's restoration. Janet Ruth LOCKE, 76, a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, since 2000, formerly of Shade Gap, died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, April 20, 2003, at Woodland. Born Nov. 21, 1926, in Burnt Cabins, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Beulah (Nead) Locke. She was united in marriage to William J. Locke April 20, 1946, in Hagerstown, Md. Locke of Shade Gap and J. Diane (Locke) Popp of Hagerstown, Md.; and four grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Mellot of Mercersburg and Mildred Linn of Woodland Retirement Center, and one brother, Stanley Locke of Burnt Cabins. Born Sept. 13, 1935, in Quakertown, he was the son of John and Kathryn (Beck) Kimmey. He was twice married: First to the former Mildred Tims who preceded him in death; then to Caroline Kimmey. He is survived by his wife at home; two daughters: Lynne Zajac and her husband, John, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Carol J. Kimmey of Cleveland, Ohio; a son, Richard E. Kimmey Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Lambertville, Mich.; two granddaughters, Kathryn and Elizabeth Zajac; two grandsons, Nicholas and Evan Kimmey; four step-daughters: Tamara Nickey and her husband, Greg; Robin Flynn; Kimberly McCormack and her husband, Michael; and Amy Styers and her husband, David; and 10 step-grandchildren. Mr. Kimmey was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg. Early in his career, Mr. Kimmey taught at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. Later, he served as director of admissions for Juniata College for 13 years and was employed in the human resources department at Owens Corning for more than 15 years. He served the Luther Home of Mercy until his retirement. He enjoyed golf, fly fishing and was an avid model railroad builder and collector. He received a kidney, the gift of life, three years ago. MILLER, 50, of Blairs Mills, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at her home. Born Oct. 25, 1952, in Baltimore, Md., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Grace (Green) Clark. She was united in marriage to Michael A. Miller Aug. 18, 1973, at McConnellsburg. Mr. Miller survives at their home along with their son, Philip M. Miller. Also surviving are three brothers: George Bausman, Baltimore, Md.; William Bausman, Oroville, Calif.; and Arthur Clark Jr., Shade Gap. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Clark. She was also active with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shade Gap Area Volunteer Fire Co. and the Shade Gap Area Senior Citizens, with which she enjoyed working. Box 195, Newton Hamilton, died at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She had been in failing health. Born Dec. 21, 1926, in Kistler, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Sally (Bryant) Brotemarkle. She was united in marriage to Forest H. Bilger Feb. 8, 1947, at the Newton Hamilton Church parsonage by the Rev. John Hoover. She was preceded in death by her husband Jan. 13, 1983. She is survived by two sons and three daughters: Mrs. Ralph "Mike" (Shirley) Sunderland of Newton Hamilton, Ronald L. Bilger of Mount Union, Mrs. James (Joanne) Conway Sr. of Newton Hamilton, Mrs. Shawn (Faye) Fisher of Mount Union, and Randy K. Creitz Bologna Factory, Mount Union, and Empire Kosher, Mount Union. Mrs. Bilger loved cooking and shopping, and very much enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Interment will be made in Newton Hamilton Memorial Cemetery. Pauline A. FRANKS, 73, of Petersburg, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born Feb. 19, 1930, in Tyrone, she was the only child of the late Alfred and Mildred (Weaver) Austin. She married Donald E. Franks March 31, 1950. Mr. Franks survives. In addition to her husband of 53 years, she is survived by 13 nieces and nephews: Robert Franks, Richard Franks, Herbert Franks, Bonnie Stangl, Duane Franks, Glenn Reed, Jean Reed, Ronald Close, Linda Close, Joanne Henney, Janet Conrad, Hal Hallock and Dixie McCormick. One brother-in-law, Melvin Franks, and one sister-in-law, Anna Jean Helmick, survive. One nephew, Val Hallock, preceded her in death. Mrs. Franks was a member of State College Presbyterian Church. She was a 1948 graduate of State College High School. Employed as a supervisor for undergraduate admissions at Penn State for 31 years, she retired in 1980. Dr. Charles J. Curley will officiate. Interment will be made in Centre County Memorial Park. Steven Gary WIBLE, 46, of Hesston, died at 4:35 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2003, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona. Born Oct. 18, 1956, in Huntingdon, he was a son of Orin Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (Guyton) Wible, who survive in Hesston. One brother and two sisters survive: Donald Ray Wible, Hesston; Mrs. Kevin (Melinda) Aurandt, Huntingdon; and Mrs. Rob (Carol) Kinzey, Defiance. His grandmother, Martha (Cramer) Wible, survives in Huntingdon. Two nieces and one nephew also survive. Mr. Wible was a member of Jacob's Church, Hesston. A 1975 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, he was a lifetime resident of Juniata Twp. Since 1988, he had worked for Shores Unlimited, a private contractor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Raystown Lake, as a maintenance person and groundskeeper. He also did maintenance and emergency work for the Seven Point Marina and Anchorage Enterprises. He was a skilled woodcraftsman, he made detailed wooden cars, trucks and other novelties. Carl Eugene BOOHER SR., 94, of Rockhill Furnace, died Saturday morning, April 26, 2003, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born March 9, 1909, in Todd Twp., Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Dorsey and Charlotte (Leisty) Booher. He was united in marriage tot the former Mildred L. Harkins July 16, 1928. Mrs. Booher preceded him in death June 2, 1995. Two sons and two daughters survive: Carl E. Booher Jr., Orbisonia; Shirley N. Drakulic, Pitcairn; Donna Jean Litzinger, Pensacola, Fla.; and Gary Lee Booher, Adamsburg. There are 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Booher was a member of the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, Rockhill Furnace. He was active with the Orbisonia Area Senior Citizens. Born Aug. 25, 1929, in Alexandria, she was a daughter of the late Charles Frederick and Theresa (Brenneman) Kidd. On Nov. 7, 1954, in Kenmore, N.Y., she was married by the Rev. Theodore T. Lehmann to William E. Clark. Mr. Clark survives. She is also survived by one son, William Frederick Clark and wife, Mary, of Vail; and one sister, Josephine Mark, Huntingdon. Her mother-in-law, Margaret Clark a resident of Epworth Manor, Tyrone, survives. Two nieces also survive: Diana Mark-Paff, Harrisburg; and Beth Ann Mark, Wilmington, Del. Mrs. Clark attended the Huntingdon schools and the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a maternity nurse at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, then as a general duty and head nurse at Tyrone Hospital, from where she retired in 1989. She had also worked briefly for the J.C. Blair Company, Huntingdon. She greatly enjoyed the outdoors, bird watching, gardening, yard work, walking in the woods and, for a number of years, horseback riding. He was united in marriage to the former Ann McCoy April 11, 1942, in Belleville, Mrs. Metz survives at Valley View Terrace, Belleville. MORROW, 81, of State College, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at University Park Nursing Center, State College. Born Feb. 16, 1922, at Homers Gap, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Mary (Miller) Parks. She married Paul Morrow Jan. 7, 1946. Mr. Morrow preceded her in death Nov. 12, 1981. She is survived by three daughters and one son: Mrs. Bob (Joyce) Wolfe, Alexandria; Barb Morrow, Huntingdon; Mrs. Pete (Bonnie L.) Baer, Centre Hall; and Paul Morrow Jr., Tyrone. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born In Meadville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Lynch) Walker. She was united in marriage to William P. Keim April &, 1947, in St. Brigid Catholic Church, Meadville, by the Rev. Fr. Cannon. Mr. Keim survives at their residence. One daughter and two sons survive: Mrs. David B. (Kristine) Russell, Frankfort, N.Y.; Gary W. Keim, at home; and Philip Michael Keim and his wife, Cheryl A. Keim, York. Four grandchildren survive: Gabrielle Russell, Ashton Keim, Justine Russell and Molly Keim. For six years, during World War II, she was employed by the American Viscose Company, Meadville. During her marriage, she was primarily a homemaker. She was active in painting, drawing and as a pianist in addition to rearing her children. "Denny" MARKS, 56, of Lewistown, died at 5:11 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2003, at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 21, 1947, in Bellwood, he was a son of the late Marshall Marks and June (Watkins) Fields. He is survived by three sisters: Marsha Hamman, Orbisonia; and Debbie Brower and Regina Gillam, both of Lewistown. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. He is also survived by a brother, James Edward McCardell of Somerset, a sister, Colleen Fix of New Paris, his uncle and aunt, Glenn and Lou Brown Mitchell of Huntingdon and several nieces and nephews. Mr. McCardell was a member of the United Church of Schellsburg. He was a life member of the American Legion; a member of the Disabled American Veterans PA Chapter 50; a life member of AMVETS Post PA 274; a life member and past commander 1999-2000 and 2001-present of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8851, Boiling Springs; BPOE Carlisle Lodge No. 578; The Mechanicsburg Club; the Eagles Post of Carlisle; and was an honorary life member of Boiling Springs Touchdown Club. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal with Device, the Combat Action Ribbon and the Purple Heart Ribbon. He was a retired steward of Boiling Springs VFW. For 12 years he enjoyed video taping the football games for Boiling Springs High School. Reed, pastor, and Bill Hammann of Blue Ridge Summit Church officiating. Katherine Mae BARBER, 79, a resident of ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, formerly of 228 E. King St. Chambersburg, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at ManorCare. Born Jan. 9, 1924, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Scott and Bessie (Moon) Estep. She married Charles Barber in 1942. Mr. Barber preceded her in death in 1983. She is survived by four daughters and three sons: Dolores "Dee" Olivo, Huntingdon; Mrs. Cody (Shirley) Peck, Fayetteville; Ronald Sugar and Nancy Bunte, both of State College; Dorothy Brock, Lewistown; and Gerald Bittinger and John Barber, Both of Chambersburg. There are 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother survive: Verna Hoffman and Fred Estep, both of Lewistown, and Hazel Norris of Altoona. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Bob. Raymond and Jim Estep; two sisters: Charlotte and Mary Jane; and a long-time companion, Jake Holtry, who died in 1985. Mrs. Barber was of the Protestant faith. She was homemaker. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Mongul Cemetery, Mongul, with the Rev. Marlin A. Neil officiating. Interment will be made in Mongul Cemetery. John M. LINKOUS Sr., 75, of Outlook Pointe, Duncansville, formerly of Baltimore, Md., died at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Bon Secours-Holy Family UPMC Regional Health Center, Altoona, following an extended illness. Born June 28, 1927, in Lynchburg, Va., he was a son of the late John M. and Pearl Agnes (Doughterty) Linkous. He was united in marriage to the Former Anna Pauline White in February 1950, in Lynchburg. Mrs. Linkous preceded him in death Sept. 19, 1995. He is survived by one son, John M. Linkous Jr., James Creek, and one grandson. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Mr. Linkous was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of Baltimore Lodge F&AM, Baltimore Consistory and Boumi Shrine Temple, all of Baltimore. He was a chief engineer in the Merchant Marines, retiring after 20 years service working for Weyerhouser Corp. He then worked for SCM Corp., Baltimore, for 15 years before again retiring. He enjoyed fishing. A memorial service will be held at Lynchburg at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made in Baltimore. Judy L. TAYLOR, 54, of Mount Union, died unexpectedly at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Sept. 18, 1948, in Hill Valley, Shirley Twp., Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of John L. Sr. and Zelda (McCartney) Hancock. Her mother survives in Hill Valley; her father is deceased. She was united in marriage to Fred H. Taylor April 5, 1965, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Taylor survives at their home. One daughter and three sons survive: Mrs. Ronald (Tina) Lewis of Mount Union; Fred H. Taylor Jr. of Mount Union; and John E. Taylor and Joseph A. Taylor, both of Mount Union. There are five grandchildren: Alicia Taylor, Nicole Lewis, Bethany Taylor, Tyler Hess and Thomas Joseph "TJ" Mellan- Taylor. She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters: John L. Hancock Jr., Mount Union; Wanda K. Staubs, Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. Francis (Pamela E.) Crouse, Hill Valley, Mount Union; Mrs. Harold (Pennie J.) Wyland, Loretto; and Dennis J. Hancock, Mount Union. Mrs. Taylor attended the Singers Gap United Methodist Church, Hill Valley, Mount Union. She attended the Mount Union schools. A homemaker, she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and loved to collect angels. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Jennifer Deutsch-Thomas and the Rev. Rich Morris officiating. Interment will be made in Mount Union Cemetery. A. Mary (Dinardi) BARTLING, 84, of Morgantown, W.Va., died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at her home. Born Sept. 17, 1918, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late Demetrio and Victoria (Sarra) Dinardi. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph H. Bartling. Two sons and two daughters survive: J. Vincent Bartling, Morgantown; Philip James and spouse, Dr. Clara Spadafore Bartling, Carnegie; Mrs. Norman (Victoria) Watts and Mrs. Robert (Elizabeth Ann) Stankos, both of Morgantown. There are five grandchildren: Jessica L. Oliver and her friend, Nathan Davis, of Nitro, W.Va.; and Daniel Bartling. Matthew Bartling, Justina Bartling and Alyssa Bartling, all of Carnegie. One sister and two brothers survive: Ann Dinardi, Morgantown; Morris Dinardi, Mount Union; and Sylvester Dinardi, Morgantown. She was preceded in death by one son, Frederick Bartling; three sisters, Erlinda Dinardi, Elizabeth Dinardi and Julia Chico; and three brothers, Carmel Dinardi, John Dinardi and Demetrio "Tony" Dinardi. Mrs. Bartling was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Star City, W.Va. She was a graduate of West Virginia University in the Licensed Practical Nurse program and also of Wilford Academy. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and was formerly employed by Monongalia General Hospital and West Virginia University Hospital. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
