Atherton, 87, of 111 Lucy Furnace Road, Mount Union, while a resident of Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. The funeral service was February 24 at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Ken Patterson officiating. Interment was made in the Ryde Cemetery. She was born on April 5, 1919, in Juniata County, the daughter of the late Frank and Ruth (Kirk) Reeder. She was united in marriage to Harry A. Atherton, on June 29, 1934 in Hagerstown, MD. Her husband preceded her in death on December 7, 1983. Mrs. Atherton is survived by the following children: John A. Atherton and wife, Loretta of Shirleysburg RD; Joy L. Ginithan and husband, Robert of Mount Union; William D. Atherton and wife, Anna, of Silverford Heights; Dennis H. Atherton and wife, Patricia of Lucy Furnace Rd., Mount Union; Cindy G. Snyder and husband, Larry of Mount Union; Lana S. Rhodes and husband Lewis of Huntingdon; Sandra J. Gearhart of McVeytown; Judy A. Myers and husband, Barry of Mount Union and Diana A. Caldwell and husband, Jim of Mount Union. There are 35 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren and 43 great- great-grandchildren. The following sisters and brother also survive: Mildred Reeder of Silverford Heights; Mona Zenoble of Shirleysburg RD and Jim Reeder of Smith Valley. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Lloyd (Bud) Booher; a daughter-in-law, Diane Knepp Atherton; two grandchildren, and the following sisters and brother: Nellie Heidel; Frank Reeder; Gladys Ritchey and infant sister, Marian Reeder. Mrs. Atherton retired from Scotty's Fashions, Lewistown, where she worked a number of years and prior to this was employed by L. Greif Bros Mfg., Mount Union, with over twenty years of service. She enjoyed crocheting and loved flowers. Mrs. Atherton was a member of the Cedar Crest Independent Baptist Church. The Valley Log, Orbisonia, Pa., February 28, 2007
