BEARD, 64, of Three Springs, R.D. 1, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at 9:05 am., at the emergency room of J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born April 24, 1936, in Barree Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late John Walter and Annie Olive (Whitesel) Johnson. She was united in marriage to John H. Beard Feb. 18, 1955, in Roaring Spring, by the Rev. Mr. Patterson. Mr. Beard survives at home, along with three children: Stephen M. Beard and Barbara J. Beard, both of Huntingdon, and Lee Anne Moore, Three Springs. There are nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. One brother and two sisters survive: Ernest Johnson of Chicago, Ill., and Hazel Ayers and Viola Johns, both of Manor Hill, Huntingdon, R.R. 2. Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Beard was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Standing Stone Post No. 1754,, VFW, Huntingdon. A 1954 graduate of Juniata Valley High School, she was primarily a homemaker. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 4, at 1 p.m., at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. David F. Sproull officiating. Interment will be made in the Mooresville Cemetery, Petersburg, R.D. 1. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service on Friday. Eleanor Rose TAYLOR, 68, a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, formerly of Dublin Mills Road, Hustontown, died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at the Chambersburg Hospital, Cham bersburg. Born March 9, 1932, in Grant Town, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Julius and Irene (Fitzer) Adams. She was married to Harold G. Taylor July 19, 1962. Mr. Taylor preceded her in death Feb. 4, 1998. Surviving are two daughters and two sons: Brenda I. Taylor, Greencastle; Donna K. Snyder, Hustontown; Robert H. Taylor, Three Springs; and Jeffrey S. Taylor, Hustontown. There are seven grandchildren. One brother and one sister survive: J. Frank Adams of Elizabethville and Margaret Russell of Jerseyville, I11. One brother, Joseph, preceded her in death. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Three Springs. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor David Sproull officiating. WOOMER, 75, of Huntingdon, R.D. 1, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at 8:30 p.m., at his home, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 14, 1924, in Tyrone, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Nellie (Gordon) Woomer. He was united in marriage to Anna Mae (Spacht) Greene Dec. 16, 1972. Mrs. Woomer survives at home, along with two children: Linda I. Moore of Altoona and Gary L. Woomer of Hollidaysburg. There are three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Woomer was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a member of the Alexandria Presbyterian Church. He was a life member of the Standing Stone Post No. 1754, VFW, Huntingdon; American Legion Post No. 520, Alexandria; and the Alexandria Voltinteer Fire Company. Mr. Woomer was a shipping supervisor at James Industries in Hollidaysburg, retiring in 1986. During World War II, he served as a corporal with the 666th Ordinance Ammunition Company of the First Army, landing in Wales, and serving in France (Normandy), Belgium, Germany and England. He was an avid hunter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m., at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. John C. Dean and the Rev. W. Dean Kinch officiating. Box 267, Alexandria, Pa. 16611. Edna C. FULTZ, 94, of Country Meadow, York, died at 10:58 a.m. Aug. 2, 2000, in the York Hospital. Born Feb. 28,. 1906, in Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late Keyser M. and Mary Ellen Wakefield. She was married to A. Russell Fultz, who preceded her in death. Mr. Fultz was a former Mount Union school administrator. Surviving. are five sons: Donald R. Fultz, York; Gerald W. Fultz, Hellam; Robert E. Fultz, Bullhead City, Ariz.; Gene Fultz, Dover; and Kenneth W. Fultz, Long Pond. There are 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville, with the Rev. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Emig Funeral Home, Dover. Max Devoe DONALDSON Jr., 39, of Martinsburg, R.R. 2, died unexpectedly at his home Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000. He was born Sept. 22, 1960, in Huntingdon, the son of Max Devoe and Janet Lou (George) Donaldson. His mother survives in Martinsburg. He was married to the former Tracy Stonerook, who died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000. One son, Cody Allen Donaldson, survives at home. Also surviving are two sisters, Wendy Lynn Johnson, no address available, and Heidie Dennis of Roaring Spring, R.R. Mr. Donaldson was of the Protestant faith. He was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1978. He was employed as general manager of Donaldson's Auto Wrecking in Martinsburg. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton. Pastor Kathy Speck will officiate. Interment will be made in the IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City. Eugene L. ZICK, 83, 724 Park Ave., Clearfield, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at his home. He was born Aug. 31, 1916, in Saxton, the son of Andrew M. and Mary (Wilson) Zick. His wife, the former Agnes M. Davis, whom he married Oct. 8, 1948, died Jan. 23, 2000. One sister, Martha (Zick) Stapleton Reuse, preceded him in death. He is survived by a niece and nephew. Mr. Zick was a member of the Clearfield Presbyterian Church. He had been employed by the former Pennsylvania Electric Co. as a first relief operator in the Operations Department, having retired in October 1974 after 23 1/2 years of services. Mr. Zick served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and served for 26 months in America Samoa and Guam. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 540. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at the chapel of the Clearfield Presybterian Church with Richard B. Barkley officiating. Interment will be made in Crown Crest Memorial Park. Robert "Ken" DAVIS, 77, of Bellefonte, formerly of Continental Courts, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Thomas Alfred and Harriet Edna Peters Davis. On July 11, 1948, in Grazierville, he married Roxy Behrer, who survives at home. He retired in 1991 from the Department of Environmental Resources as a forest-maintenance supervisor at Whipple Dam after 31 years of service. He was also a forest-fire warden in District 5 out of Huntingdon. He was a Protestant. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Edna Miller of rural Petersburg and Donna Markle of rural Warriors Mark; one son, Wesley C. Sr. of rural Petersburg; a niece, Selma Thompson of State College, who is part of the immediate family; three sisters, Dorothy J. Martin and Edna Mae Frankenberger of State College and Ethel Zimmers of Harrisburg; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church, Graysville, with Pastor Ted Plott officiating. Burial will be at Graysville Cemetery, Graysville. James B. GREEN, 65, of Box 142, Altoona, R.D. 6, died Thursday morning, Aug. 3, 2000, at the Altoona Hospital, following an extended illness. Born April 18, 1935, in Altoona, he was the son of Harry and Ruth U. (Barry) Green. His parents survive in Altoona. He married Jean Seedenburg Oct. 20, 1994, in Reno, Nev. Surviving are his wife, two sons and three daughters: Randall Patterson and John Patterson Jr., both of Altoona; Sharon Long, Altoona; Jan Hedden, San Bruno, Calif.; Jil Young, El Paso, Texas. There are six grandchildren. One sister, Kay Benbrooks of Altoona, survives. Mr. Green was a member of the Mardorf United Methodist Church. He retired as a supervisor from Bell Telephone Company in 1994, after 36 years of service. He also served as Logan Township, Altoona, supervisor from 1988-1994. Mr. Green was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a director of the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association; member and past president of the Southern Alleghenies Snowmobile Club; and member of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Snowmobile Club, serving as its first safety training instructor. Many snowmobile club members were from the Huntingdon area. He was also a member of the Central District Volunteer Firemen's Association and a member and former officer of Juniata Gap (United) Volunteer Fire Company. He was also a member of the Logan Lodge No. 490 of Free and Accepted Masons; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Bodies and Jaffa Shrine; the Keystone Search and Rescue; and the American Legion. Mr. Green was a Marine Corps veteran, serving as corporal from 1954-57, in Korea. Funeral services were held Monday, August 7. Interment was made in the Grandview Cemetery, Altoona. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of the American Heart Association. Howard L. "Sonny" MILLER, 63, of 1001 N. High St., Williamsburg, died Thursday morning, Aug. 3, 2000, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Nov. 26, 1936, in Lower Reese, Hollidaysburg, R.R. 3, he was the son of the late Howard F. and Alverta M. (Clapper) Miller. He married Laura Mae Landis July 17, 1957, in Williamsburg. Surviving are his wife and six daughters: Susan D. Force, Indiana; Lynn A. Peck, Lori A. Rhule, Lucy A. Miller and Leslie E. Miller, all of Williamsburg; and Lisa R. Miller, Hollidaysburg, R.R. 3. There are 11 grandchildren. Four sisters survive: Carole Lesko, Hollidaysburg; Brenda Funk, Lewistown; Rita Stone, Williamsburg, R.R. 1; and Cindy Himes, Altoona. Mr. Miller was a member of the Williamsburg Church of the Brethren and attended Canoe Creek Brethren in Christ Church, Hollidaysburg, R.R. 2. He operated the Blue Pirate Dugout Restaurant in Williamsburg, along with his family, for seven years. Prior to that, he retired as a production superintendent from Westvaco, Williamsburg, in 1979. He was also a self-employed carpenter. A 1954 graduate of Williamsburg High School, he was also a 1957 graduate of Williamson Trade School, Media, where he majored in carpentry. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Mr. Miller was a member of the Standing Stone Country Club, Huntingdon; the National Rifle Association; president of the Williamsburg Playground Association; and since 1979, was a coach in the Williamsburg Women's Softball League. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Beaner. He attended many sporting events in which his grandchildren participated, and liked working in his woodshop. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at the Bolger Funeral Home, Inc., Williamsburg, with the Pastor Robert A. Patterson and Pastor Elizabeth A. Hess, officiating. Interment will be made in the New Canoe Creek Cemetery, Hollidaysburg, R.R. 2. Friends will be received from 7 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. FORSYTHE, 76, of Mapleton, R.D., died at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Oct. 5, 1923, in Saltillo, he was the son of the late Clarence V. and Nora Mildred (Stake) Forsythe. He was married to Mary Lou Harr April 14, 1974. Mrs. Forsythe survives at home, along with five children: Connie Maw (Forsythe) Collins, Three Springs; Norman Scott Forsythe, Robertsdale; Conchita "Connie" Diane (Forsythe) Porter, Wendell Leroy Forsythe and Joseph Baldwin O'Neill, all of Lakeland, Fla. There are five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One aunt in York survives. Mr. Forsythe attended the Beech Run Church of the Brethren, Mapleton. He was a retired apiarist. For 18 years, he had worked as a foreman for E.B. Endres Lumber Co., Huntingdon. During World War II, he served in the Navy Air Corps as an aviation metalsmith, second class. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, with Pastor Connie Maclay and Pastor Donald Fornwalt officiating. Maxine MYERS, 87, of 105 W. Milford St., Mount Union, died at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at the Altoona Hospital. Born March 13, 1913, in Pitcairn, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Ruth (Starr) Wilson. She was united in marriage to Lee C. Myers March 3, 1935. He preceded her in death Sept. 1, 1959. Surviving are six children: Priscilla L. Brown and Charles W. Myers, both of Quarryville; Clinton R. Myers, Mount Union; Mrs. Thomas (Eugenia R.) Hagie, Orbisonia; Carlton M. Myers, El Paso, Texas; and Craig M. Myers, Huntingdon. There are 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Four sisters survive: Edwina Johnston and Althea Conforti, both of Pitcairn, and twins Lois Lange of Pitcairn and Mrs. Bingham (Lorna) Small, Greensburg. Mrs. Myers was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. She was also a member of the Mount Union Education Association; member and past president of the Retired Teachers Association of Huntingdon County; member of Pennsylvania State Education Association; the National Education Association and the Mount Union Kiwanis Club. A 1930 graduate of Pitcairn High School, she attended Indiana State College in Indiana and graduated from Shippensburg State College with a bachelor of science degree in education. She retired in 1977, after 25 years of service with the Mount Union Area School District as an elementary teacher. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Grundon officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Shirley St., Mount Union, Pa. 17066. G. Hobart SMITH, 84, of R.D. 2, Box 33-C, Huntingdon, formerly of 929 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at 8,30 p.m., at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born June 14, 1916, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Roy E. and Elsie Blanche (Shoop) Smith. He was united in marriage to Augusta Beatty May 26, 1946, in Bloomsburg, by the Rev. Samuel Strain. Mrs. Smith survives at home, along with a daughter, Mrs. David (Ellen Lee) Ayers, Huntingdon, R.D. 2. Mr. Smith was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, where he was a former member of the choir and bowling league, served as a Sunday School teacher, council member and carillonneur for over 20 years. He was a member and past commander of the Standing Stone Post No. 1754, VFW, Huntingdon; former member of the Stone Creek Lions Club; past director and vice president of the Huntingdon Automobile Club (AAA); and a member of the Order of Rosicrucian. Mr. Smith attended the Huntingdon public schools and graduated from the Huntingdon High School in 1934. He helped his mother in the family store and was also employed by Owens Corning Fiberglas. He also served as Huntingdon County Auditor and was employed by the Huntingdon Motor Inn. During World War II, Mr.Smith served in the U.S. Army, in the European Theatre of Operations. He attained the rank of technician fifth grade, with Company A, Second Armored "Hell on Wheels" Reconnaissance Battalion. He also held the rank of first sergeant with the Pennsylvania National Guard Howitzer Battery, stationed in Huntingdon. He had been a resident of Huntingdon County since birth. In the 1950s, Mr. Smith was a race car driver "#98," in the Juniata Valley Racing Association. More recently, he served as a scorer at the Hesston and Bedford Speedways. There will be no formal funeral services. The family asks that those who knew and loved "Smitty" take a moment to remember him and give thanks for a good man and a blessed life. At the request of the family, there will be no public viewing or visitation. Brown Funeral Home, Inc., Huntingdon. John H. RITTER Sr. 75, of Huntingdon, R.D. 2, died at 6:06 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Hershey Medical Center. Born Sept. 30, 1924, in Lewistown, he was the son of George Ritter. Surviving are three children: Ricci L. Ritter, Huntingdon; John H. Ritter Jr., Lewistown; and Mrs. Tommy (Tereca) Grose, Granville. There are seven grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Dora L. Sheller of Westminster, Md., and a brother, John D. Harshberger of Point Bay, Wash. Mr. Ritter was an oil field emloyee for R.H. Kelly, Inc., Wyoming. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Grace Covenant Church, Lewistown. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Grace Killian AHLBERG, 85, of Lanse, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at 12:33 a.m., at Philipsburg Area Hospital, Philipsburg. Born Nov. 30, 1914, in East Rochester, N.Y, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Alda Clara (Reish) Killian. She was united in marriage to Evert C. "Eve" Ahlberg Jan. 29, 1938, in West Milton. He preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1999. Surviving are two daughters and one son: Mrs. Methodius (Joan) Starcovic and Caffie Ahlberg, both of Lanse, and William Ahlberg, Petersburg. There are five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren ind five step-great-grandchildren. Two sisters and one brother survive: Winifred Ranck, Milton; Marjorie Herald, Emmaus; and Laird Killian, New Columbia. One sister, Dorothy Criswell, preceded her in death. Mrs. Ahlberg was a graduate of he Milton High School Class of 1933. She graduated from the Geisinger Memorial Hostpital School of Nursing in 1936 and was employed by the Philipsburg State General Hospital in Philipsburg. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lanse, and the Lutheran Church Women and the church council. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanse Saturday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Peter C. Hutchinson and the Rev. Edward V DeVore officiating. Interment will be made in the Grassfiat-Lanse Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church Friday, Aug. 11, from 7 until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. "Kenny" HOLLAND, 53, of Shade Gap, died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at the home of his daughter, Tressia Day, of Mountain Green Road, Spring Run. Born April 2, 1947, in Dublin Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Harold Holland And Ruth (Traxler) Holland, who survives in Shade Gap. He is also survived by a companion, Debra Bair at their home. Two daughters survive: Tressia Day of Spring Run and Debra Holland of Dry Run. There are three stepchildren: Brandi Fields, Saltillo; Misti Waite, Burnt Cabins, and Kristy Sheeder, Mount Union. Five grandchildren survive. One brother, James Holland of Shade Gap, survives. Mr. Holland was a member of the Madden-Wennick Post No. 518, American Legion, Rockhill Furnace, and the Pennsylvania Sheriff's Association. He was self-employed as a small engine repairman. Prior to that, he was employed as a truck driver. Mr. Holland was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor William Bair officiating. Interment will be made in the Salem Cemetery, Blairs Mills, R.D. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Clarence L. "Pap" RAMSEY, 90, of 211 Iron St., Rockhill Furnace, died at 11.40 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at his home. He had been in failing health. Born Aug. 3, 1910, in Jacobs, he was the son of the late Howard and Nellie (Taylor) Ramsey. He was united in marriage to Olive Mae Taylor Oct. 30, 1937. She survives at home, along with three children: Jack Ramsey, Spring Run; Allan "Jake" Ramsey, Rockhill Furnace; and Mrs. Gary (Jean) Johnson, Shade Gap. There are five grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Earl Ramsey; a brother, Clayton Ramsey; and a sister, Madeline Wible. Mr. Ramsey attended the Assembly of God Church. During his lifetime, he had worked at coal mines, brickyards, pipelines, saw mills and road construction sites. There will be no funeral services. Interment will be made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. R. Mae HAMMAN, 95, formerly of Three Springs, R.D., died at 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000,,at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born June 13, 1905, in Orbisonia, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Elizabeth (Tice) Daughenbaugh. She was married to Harry G. Hamman Nov. 29, 1934. Mr. Hamman preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1967. Surviving are a son, Donald Hamman of Tennessee and a brother, Norman Daughenbaugh of Orbisonia. Five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Hamman was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Three Springs, R.D. She served as former treasurer and Sunday School teacher at the church. She is survived by her husband, Elmer Forest Miller, who is a resident of Huntingdon Manor. They were married Feb. 10, 1940, in Winchester, Va. Two children survive: Mrs. Russell (Shirley) Horne, Mount Union, R.R. 1; and Douglas D. Miller, Andover, N.Y. There are eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Six siblings survive: Helen Hommon, Bigler; Clayton Miller, Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia; Chester Miller, Belleville; Leona Taylor and Joseph Miller, both of Mount Union, R.D. 1; and Juliet Culp, Roaring Spring, R.D. "Bill" TRIMER of Canton, Ohio, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at the Massillon Community Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Huntingdon, a son of the late Regis G. and Emma (Batzel) Trimer. Surviving are two brothers and two sisters: Richard A. Trimer, Aliquippa; Thomas R. Trimer, Alexandria; Joan Knode and Ruthie Culp, both of the Harrisburg area. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a step-mother, Katie Trimer. Mr. Trimer was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a cryptographic technician. He moved to Akron, Ohio, in 1947, entered the tavern industry and was selected as deputy sheriff civil branch, under Sheriff Robert D. Campbell. He moved to Massillon in 1963 and was employed by Dynamic Sales Promotion and became the owner of Hacienda Lounge and Supper Club. In 1967, he moved to Canton and returned to the tavern business as the owner of Trimer's Cafe and, later, the Fulton Beverage Drive Thru. He was also the proprietor of Bill's Fast Food, with two Canton locations. He retired in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion Canton Post 44 and the Elks Canton EPO Lodge 68. He began work June 1963 with the former Pennsylvania Glass Sand Co., Mapleton, presently known as US Silica, and had maintained his employment there for the past 37 years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed working on antique cars and tractors and liked attending flea markets and yard sales. He headed the annual Shady Rest bass fishing tournament held for his family and friends at his Mill Creek cabin at the end of August. Mr. Finkle was of the Protestant faith. Richard L. HOENSTINE, 72, of Bedford St., Claysburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at his home. Born June 10, 1928, in King, he was the son of the late David R. and Nellie Grace (Hengst) Hoenstine. He married Ruth Helen Burket Aug. 5, 1950, in Winchester, Va. Surviving are his wife and two sons: David Elwood of East Freedom and Doak Edward of James Creek. There are four grandsons and two step-grandsons. One brother, E. Samuel Hoenstine of Melbourne, Fla., survives. Mr. Hoenstine was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Claysburg. He retired in 1990 from the Claysburg-Kimmel School District, as a sixth grade elementary teacher after 40 years of service. He was the head varsity basketball coach for 28 years and was an assistant baseball and football coach for more than 20 years. He was a 1946 graduate of Claysburg High School. He received a bachelor's degree in physical education and biology from Lock Haven State Teachers College and in 1955, he received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Penn State University. Mr. Hoenstine was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the Fifth Calvary Regiment in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of the Claysburg American Legion and the Earnest-Dively Veterans of Foreign War Post in Claysburg. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed baseball, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. Joseph (Leroy) IMLER, 75, of Barn Street, Broad Top, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at the Altoona Hospital, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born July 30, 1925, in New Enterprise, he was the son of the late Louis and Alice (Himes) Imler. He married Alta Eshelman, who preceded him in death. He later married Eleanor (Black) Treece, who survives. Four children survive: Susan McCormick of Texas, Barbara Deihl of Florida, Jody lmler of Dillsburg and Jeffery Imier of New Enterprise. A stepson, Allen Treece of Broad Top, also survives. There are seven grandchildren. One sister, Lois Dodson of East Freedom, survives. One brother, Ross Imler, preceded him in death. He was a truck driver for over 40 years, retiring from Lease Way Trucking. His hobbies included camping, fishing and listening to country music. Mr. Imler was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mrs. Champ survives at home, along with two children: Charles R. Childers of Cummings, Ga., and Carmen L. Wilt of Emerald Isle, N.C. There are six grandchildren. Two sisters survive: Josephine Champ and Margaret Biller, both of Elkins, W.Va. Mr. Champ attended the Six Mile Run Church of God. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion of Baltimore, Md., the Glen Burnie VFW. and the Breezewood Lions Club. He retired after 25 years of service for the state of Maryland as a food service manager. Born Aug. 25, 1928, in Donation, he was the son of the late Cloyd M. and Catherine S. (Wagner) Knode. He was married to Margaret J. Jackson March 31, 1948, in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Knode survives at home, along with three children: E. Tom Knode Jr., Donation; Mrs. Thomas (Catherine) Woods, Dillsburg; and Mrs. Sam (Dottie Jane) Cramer, Donation. There are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One daughter, Candace, preceded him in death. Most recently, she worked at the State Correctional Institution Smithfield. She also volunteered for the Red Cross bloodmobile. Born March 7, 1904, in Wells Tannery, she was the daughter of the late Hayes and Alice (Shaffer) Bivens. She was married to Herman S. Gracey, who preceded her in death July 21, 1978. Surviving are two sons and a daughter: Kenneth M. Gracey and Donald R. Gracey, both Of Waterfall, and Alice Virginia Souder, Orrstown. There are 14 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Maude Earley of Wells Tannery, survives. One daughter, Frances B. Fix, two brothers, two sisters and one grandchild are deceased. Mrs. Gracey was a member of the Center United Methodist Church, Waterfall, R.D. Early in her life, she was a teacher in one-room schools. STALLMAN, 83, of Shade Gap, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at his home in Dublin Township. Born Jan. 22, 1917, in Tell Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Ira and Anna Belle (Varner) Stallman. He was married to Erma Kirk June 10, 1939. Mrs. Staliman survives in Dublin Township. Surviving are a son and two daughters: Fred R. Stallman, Colora, Md.; Carolyn S. Dixon, New York City, N.Y.; Joan F. Goodwin, Denville, N.J. There are eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One sister, Dorthey Colyer of the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, survives. One brother, Leroy Stallman, and a sister, Catherine Kirk, preceded him in death. Mr. Staliman was a member of, St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Shade Gap. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Shade Gap Lions Club and was active as a water dowser in the Shade Gap area. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and his last employment was with the Fisher Tank Company of Delaware. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 66, Pittsburgh. Between 1932-1935, he had worked as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. RONK, 66, Huntingdon, formerly of Hesston, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born Sept. 21, 1933, in Hesston, he was the son of the late Harry C. and Elizabeth (Gongloff) Ronk. He married Betty J. Neuder June 29, 1973. She survives at home, along with two daughters and two sons: Tammy Sounett of Arizon, Mrs. Tom (Apryl) Zeigler of Port Matilda, Terry Ronk, stationed in Holland with the Air Force, and Timothy Ronk of Graterford. There are three grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers also survive: Mrs. Robert (Carol) Hinkle, Killeen, Texas; Mrs. Dale (Mildred) Wilson, Coatesville; Clair Ronk and Wilbur Ronk, both of Hesston. Mr. Ronk was a graduate of the Huntingdon High School. He had worked at the ice plant in Huntingdon, for ground maintenance at Juniata College, as a laborer for D. W. Miller, Inc., in Huntingdon, and he retired from H.L. Libby Corporation in Huntingdon. From 1952 until 1955, he was a sergeant in the Marines in Korea; served in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1956 until 1960, and in the Army Reserves from 1964 until 1987. Mr. Ronk was a member of the VFW and American Legion posts in Huntingdon and the Band Boosters of the Huntingdon Area High School. She was united in marriage to Thomas N. Rupert April 4, 1936, in Winchester, Va. He preceded her in death March 19, 1985. One daughter and two sons survive: Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Baker of Huntingdon, Thomas N. Rupert Jr. of Fairfax, Va., and Ronald E. Rupert of State College. There are six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rupert was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon. A 1931 graduate of the Broad Top High School, she graduated from the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1935. She was employed as a registered nurse at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. She was a member of the Nurses Alumni Association at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Nursing School. She had been a resident of Huntingdon County for 54 years and lived at her Mifflin Street residence for 48 years. Mrs. Rupert enjoyed gardening, cultivating roses and loved music and traveling. Born Dec. 25, 1920, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Steck Elmer and Ethel Maude (Rupert) Turbett. Two sisters survive: Mrs. Ben (Elizabeth Maude) Runk of McVeytown and Mrs. Ray (Helen T.) Coffman, Huntingdon. Two brothers, William Turbett and Gerald Turbett, preceded him in death. Mr. Turbett was of the Lutheran faith. He. was a member of the Standing Stone Post No. 1754. VFW, Huntingdon; American Legion Post No. 109, Mechanicsburg; and Loyal Order of the Moose, No. 223, Huntingdon. Educated in the Huntingdon public schools and a 1938 graduate of Huntingdon High School, he was employed by the Time Warner Book of the Month Club as a senior systems analyst until his retirement in 1986. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Armv in Comipany C, 70th Armored Infantry Battalion in the Aleutian Islands, attaining the rank of corporal. Mr. Turbett had been a resident of Huntingdon County since 1994 and had lived at his current residence since November 1994. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and woodworking. BLACK, 80, of 165 Jean Blvd., Lewisburg, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg, where he had been admitted earlier in the day. His death followed an extended illness. Born Feb. 16, 1920, in Alexandria, he was the son of the late J. Lynn and Edna M. (Myers) Black. He was married to the former Margaret E. "Pat" Patterson. They would have observed their 57th wedding anniversary Dec. 24. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Robert L. Black of Selinsgrove, R.R. 2, two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. One brother, Donald R. Black, and a half-brother, E.B. Oakman, preceded him in death. Mr. Black was a 1938 graduate of the Alexandria High School and attended Juniata College. He retired as vice president of Citizens' Electric, Lewisburg, where he was employed for 25 years. He had previously been employed by the late U.S. Congressman, Richard Simpson, as a field representative. He had also been employed at the John R. Wald Company in Huntingdon and as assistant cashier at the former Union National Bank of Huntingdon, now UNitas Bank. Mr. Black also served as the chairman of an Evangelical Community Hospital fund-raising drive for one of its building expansion plans. He was active in the Republican party politics, serving as committeeman for Union County. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Winfield, where he had served as trustee. He was also active in Masonic orders, was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge F&AM, in Huntingdon, where he was secretary. Mr. Black also belonged to the Williamsport Consistory and the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, and was a former member of the Lewisburg Lions Club. Mr. Hunsinger was a 1947 graduate of the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, Mt. Airy. She retired from East Waterford Textiles in East Waterford. She was also employed by the Rockhill Sewing Company, Rockhill Furnace; the former Stanley Company, Chambersburg; and the former Penn Hall School, Chambersburg. She was a member of the Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; a sister, Edith Kauffman; an infant sister, Dixie Darlene Lantz; and a half-sister, Robin Elaine Branthafer. A 1952 graduate of Captain Jack High School in Mount Union, he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Born May 29, 1909, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Virgie (Smith) Shope. She was first married to George W. Heidler in 1925. He preceded her in death August 1941. She married Franklin C. Smyers in 1944 and he preceded her in death in December 1989. One daughter, Bernice M. Fazenbaker of Summerville, S.C., survives, along with four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Patricia Kemmler of Mount Union, survives. Sisters Arlene Benkert and Irene Hicks, brothers Banner Shope and Regis Shope, and infant siblings Pauline Shope and William Shope, preceded her in death. Mrs. Smyers was of the Baptist faith. She retired in 1973 from the Arrow Shirt Factory in Lewistown, where she had worked from 1949 until 1973. She had also worked at the L. Greif Brothers Manufacturing plant in Mount Union. She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America and former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lewistown Chapter, and the Women's 20th Century Club of Mount Union. He was twice married, first to Patricia Hummel Sept. 27, 1955, in Altoona. She died March 30, 1974. He then married Virginia Kanagy, who survives in Huntingdon. Also surviving is a son, Thomas S. of Huntingdon, a daughter, Sandra D. of California, his mother of Tipton, and three sisters: Janet M. Grove and Judith K. Heaton, both of Skelp; Lee Ann Miller of Tipton, and a stepsister, Irene Irvin of Bangor. Mr. Cherry was a member of the Tipton Baptist Church and formerly of the First Baptist Church of Huntingdon. He was a member of the Spruce Creek Rod and Gun Club, a charter member of the Keystone Rod and Gun Club, Renovo, and a member of the Huntingdon Lions Club. He retired in 1991 from Lloyd's Home Building Center, Huntingdon, as manager, after 34 years of service. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing in Canada. Mr. Cherry was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as seaman recruit. Born April 20, 1910, in Defiance, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Margaret J. (McCabe) Black. She was united in marriage to Thomas W. Stailey in 1933. He preceded her in death. Born in Philadelphia, he formerly lived in Huntingdon County before moving to North Cape May five years ago. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, the former Catherine Lonergan, two children, Joseph A. Jr. of Erma, N.J., and Sissy Butkovic, at home. There are two grandchildren. He was past deputy sheriff of Huntingdon County for five years and was a member of the drug task force from 1990-1995. He was the owner and operator of Joe's TV and Video Land of Huntingdon County and a member of the Huntingdon Borough Council for two terms. He was also a Philadelphia fireman for 13 years and chief director of security for Sea Pointe Village, Wildwood Crest, for the past four years. Mr. Bookwalter survives at home, along with the following children: E. Kevin Beatty, Winchester, Va.; Michael D. Beatty, Mapleton; Brian K. Bookwalter, Mount Union; Sarah J. Davis, Crystal L. There are 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson. One sister and one brother preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, James Tomlinson, four children and two step-children: Jason Fulmer, Cleveland, Ohio; Charles and Tamara and Christopher Fulmer, all of the Lancaster area; Beth Tomlinson and Susan Betsko of New Cumberland. There are six grandchildren. Mrs. Tomlinson lived in Huntingdon from 1980-1989. She served as secretary at the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church for five years. Born Feb. 15, 1914, in Shade Valley, she was the daughter of the late James and Eva (Cramer) Henry. She was united in marriage to Grant J. Leighty March 27, 1934, in Hagerstown, Md. Her husband survives, along with her sister, Pauline Cullen of Mount Union. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Melvin Clair Henry, Fred Henry and Gladys Brown. Mrs. Leighty was a graduate of Mount Union High School Class of 1933. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bricktown Seniors in Mount Union. Born Oct. 28, 1919, in Ryde, he was a son of the late Thomas C. and Elva I. (Moist) Miller. His wife, Winifred (Moist) Miller, preceded him in death Nov. 4, 1995. Surviving are two sons, Richard T. Miller of Mattawana and D. Jay Moist, Ryde. There are four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Two brothers survive: Christopher K. Miller of Toledo, Ore., and Ferman L. HARTZLER, 79, of HCR 61, Mill Creek, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at the Altoona Hospital. Born Jan. 8, 1921, in Belleville, R.R., he was the son of the late Urie D. and Mary E. "Mamie" (King) Hartzler. His wife, Sadie E. Kauffman, whom he married May 11, 1947, survives. Also surviving are a foster son, Ronald Ritz of Somerset, R.R. 4; a sister, Mrs. Glen (Alta) Hartzler, Belleville; and foster sisters Mrs. Crist (Rhoda) Peachey, Reedsville, and Lorene Kauffman, Spring Mills, R.R. He was preceded in death by two infant sisters, Ada and a stillborn child, and two infant brothers. Mr. Hartzler was a farmer and retired in 1967. He also worked as a construction laborer for APM Allensville and was a taxi driver. He was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church and the Senior Men's Golden Age Sunday School Class. He also taught Sunday School at Otelia Mennonite Church, Mount Union, R.R., was a former member of the Big Valley Men's Chorus, and served in CPS during World War II. Born March 3, 1930, in Mapleton, she was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle Grace (Dell) Ross. Her father died on the same day, Aug. 24. She was united in married to Edwin Heath June 4, 1948, in Cumberland, Md. Mr. Heath survives at home, along with two children: Karen Heath of Mechanicsburg and Janice Steele of McConnellsburg. There are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Three siblings survive: Evelyn Wetzel of Tennessee, and William Ross and Joseph Ross, both of Mapleton. Mrs. Heath was an active member of the Broad Top Community Center Association and was a member of the Broad Top Senior Citizens. She worked at Quality Manufacturing in Saxton for 25 years. Born Oct. 14, 1910, in Wood, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Wineman) Ross. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Grace Dell Oct. 13, 1929, in Cumberland, Md. She preceded him in death in May 1987. Surviving are three children: Evelyn Wetzel of Tennessee, William Ross of Mapleton and Joseph Ross of Mapleton. One daughter, Mary Heath of Broad Top, died on the same day. Aug. 24. There are four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Three siblings survive: Alberta Black of Broad Top, Gwendolyn Rossman of Pittsburgh and Lawrence Ross of Virginia. Two, sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Ross attended the Valley View Evangelical Church and was a member of the Mapleton American Legion. He was a barber for more than 60 years and also worked as a farmer and coal miner. Born July 10, 1926, in Orbisonia, she was the daughter of the late Clair M. and Marjorie (Walls) Love. She married Ray L. Smith June 6, 1944. Surviving are her husband, at their home; two children: Patricia A. Pavlik and James R. Smith, both of Lower Country Club Road, Mount Union; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Jean Lukens, Mount Union, and Joan Renaldi, Reedsville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, C. James Love and Frank B. Love. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Mount Union where she had taught Sunday School at the elementary level. She was also active in the Presbyterian Women's Association. She was a member of OES Chapter 280, Mount Union, the Juniata Association for the Blind and a past member of the Lady's Golf Association at the American Country Club, Mount Union. At one time she was very active in the Lower Huntingdon County Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Mount Union High School and attended Shippensburg State College. In her early years she was a telephone operator and also worked at the defense plant in Carlisle during World War II. She had worked in the office at the Hanover Canning Company, the Mount Union Cable Company and as a receptionist at the Days Inn in Huntingdon. She was an avid bridge player. Bender June 13, 1970, in the Morrisville United Methodist Church. He survives at home. Two children, Julia (Mule) Edgerton of Reynoldsburg and Rochelle (Breece) Snyder of Bedford, survive. Box 183, Mount Union, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County. His death was unexpected. Born Sept. 19, 1944, in Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Harold P. Gill Sr. and Thelma A. (Hart) Gill, who survives in Smithfield. His wife, the former Barbara A. Hughes of Mount Union survives, along with two children: Joseph L. Gill Jr. of Pittsburgh and Laura Lee Gill of Clarion. Two stepdaughters, Barbara Beatty and Crystal Frick, both of Mount Union, survive. There are two grandchildren. Also surviving are the following siblings: Geneva M. Pratt, Vero Beach, Fla.; Robert C. Hoffman of St. Augustine; his mother, Verneda H. Brown, Huntingdon; and two sons; Donald W.Hoffman Jr., St. Augustine and Markel Hoffman, Palm Coast; Fla. Beulah Appleby Walter KLINGER, 85, of 12 S. Market St., McVeytown, died at 7:13 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Center, Pleasant Gap. Born April 28, 1915, in Shirleysburg, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Olive B. (Traxler) Appleby. Her first husband, Roy Walter, died in 1943. Her second husband, Arlanda N. Klinger, died Aug. 10, 1995. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Glenn (Dorothy) Pollock and Danny N. Klinger, both of McVeytown, Roy A. Walter, Huntingdon, Robert E. Walter, Mapleton RR, Charles E. Born Nov. 2, 1907, in Broad Top, she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Sarah (Jones) Leabhart. She was married three times, first to Wilbur R. Corbett, then to James A. Park and later to John A. Cartwright. All husbands are deceased. One daughter, Patricia A. Parsons of Orbisonia survives. There are eight grandchildren, three step- grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter surviving. Two sons, Robert W. Corbett and Jerome Park are deceased, along with one great-grandchild. One brother, John Leabhart of Broad Top, survives. Three brothers and four sisters are deceased: Charles Leabhart, Robert Leabhart, James Leabhart, Florence Thomas, Greta Leabhart, Nellie Neville and Susan Stinson. Born April 15, 1913, in Clymer, Indiana County, he was the son of the late Asa and Estel McDowell. He was united in marriage to Flora Bellmore May 29, 1941, in Arlington, Va. She preceded him in death Aug. 13, 1973. Also surviving are a son and a daughter: John A. McDowell of Malvern and Cathy S. Barefoot of State College. There are two grandchildren. His fiancee, Elaine Eichensehr, survives. One sister, Louise Coulsin of Las Vegas, Nev., survives, along with a half-sister, Bette (McDowell) Brenan of Clinton, Ohio. One brother, James McDowell, preceded him in death. Mr. McDowell was of the Protestant faith. A 1931 graduate of Clymer High School, he graduated from Indiana State Teachers College, now Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in 1938. During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps as a captain. He began his teaching and coaching career at Curwensville High School, where he worked from 1939-1941. After armed forces duty, he returned to teaching and coaching at Saxton Liberty High School between 1946- 1959. He retired after 25 years from Huntingdon Area High School in 1975, as head baseball coach from 1952-1955 and from 1957-1965, and assistant football and basketball coach. He served briefly on the Juniata College football staff and also worked at UNitas Bank of Huntingdon for ten years as a courier. Mr. McDowell was a member of the Standing Stone Post No. 1754, VFW, Huntingdon. He had lived in Huntingdon County since 1950 and at his current residence since 1978. His personal achievements included selection to the All-Time Indiana State Football First Team and induction into the Huntingdon County Sports Hall of Fame in June 1999. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and dancing. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m., at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Inc., 417, Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. John C. MELSON, 46, of rural Huntingdon died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at home, due to an extended illness from juvenile diabetes. Born Aug. 25, 1954, in Altoona, he was a son of George A. and F. Elizabeth Good Melson of State College. He was a 1973 graduate of State College Area High School and he graduated in Blairsville with an associate's degree in accounting. He enjoyed swimming, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Barbara Melson Jones in California and Mary Oatts of Denver; and a brother, Jared G. of Havertown. Carol Ann ANGELUCCI, 51, of Mapleton Depot, R.D. 1, died Thursday, August 31, 2000, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Her death was unexpected. She was born May 6, 1949, in Huntingdon, the daughter of the late John Groh Jr. and Anne (MacDonald) Groh, who survives at her home in Elverson. She married Donald J. Angelucci Sept. 1, 1972 in West Chester. She is survived by her husband, two children: Marisa A. Angelucci of Huntingdon and Dominic J. Angelucci of Philadelphia, and a grandson. She is also survived by a brother, David Groh of Elverson and four sisters: Cathy Ladika of Honeybrook, Linda Haag of Campbelltown, Laurie Duncan of Coatesville and Sherri Seachrist of Holtwood. Mrs. Angelucci was of the Protestant faith. She was a 1967 graduate of Marple Newtown High School and enjoyed reading, music, science fiction shows and spending time with friends and family. Viola Margaret "Peggy" (Wagner) McDONALD of 1420 Washington Street, Huntingdon, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, at 4:45 p.m. at her home. Her death was sudden and unexpected. She was the daughter of the late John S. and Blanche (Hall) Wagner. She wed Edgar H. "Jeff" McDonald March 19, 1942 in Winchester, Va. Her husband preceded her in death July 4, 1986. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Sonja E.) Rogers of Huntingdon. Also surviving are three sisters: Mrs. John (Ester M.) Peters of Huntingdon, Mrs. Willis (Jean) Brungard of Mapleton and Carole Brumbugh of Huntingdon and one brother: Donald Wagner of Huntingdon. A brother, John Wagner, preceded her in death. Mrs. Wagner Was a member of the First Regular Baptist Church of Huntingdon, where she served on numerous committees and assisted with many volunteer projects. She was also active in the church's Women's Circle. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 24, Huntingdon; and a life member of the Auxiliary of the Huntingdon Hook and Ladder Fire Company. She retired from Reliable Cleaners after 25 years of service and was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon having established her home on Washington Street in 1957. She enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time in her flower garden. (Hunter) SKOPIC, 81, of Mount Union, R.D. 1, formeriy of McClure, R. D. 1, died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born March 26, 1919, in Reedsville, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Kathryn (Civitts) Baker. She was first united in marriage to Joseph E. Hunter, who preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1980. She then married Stephen Skopic Jan. 18, 1986. Mr. Skopic survives at home, along with the following children: Joseph A. Hunter, Mrs. Robert (Wanda) Walters, Mrs. Philip (Betty) Greca, Mrs. Gordon (Shirley) Shawver and Ronald R. Hunter, all of McClure. Three stepchildren survive: Timothy Skopic, Dallas; Ellis Skopic, Orbisonia; and Albert Skopic, York. There are 21 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, and one great-great-grandchild. The following siblings also survive: Betty Houser, Milroy; Fred Baker, Atkinson Mills; Frank Baker, Washington; Ellen Miller, Atkinson Mills; and Robert Baker, McClure. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Baker, a sister, Helen Allenbaugh; a daughter, Mary Long; a son. Edward Hunter; and a grandson, Lawrence E. Shawver, who died July 30, 1984. Mrs. Skopic was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren, Mount Union, and the Women's Fellowship of the church. PEIGHT, 23, of 46 El Ray Street, Allensville, died Thursday, August 31, at 7:47 p.m., at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. He was born September 20, 1976 in Lewistown, the son of Jesse and Malinda (Peachey) Peight, who survive at their Allensville home. He was united in marriage to Christina Brubaker June 3, 2000. He is survived by four sisters and two brothers at their parents home: Loretta J. Peight, Wilma G. Peight, Janice M. Peight, Benita J. Peight, Lester Peight and Ervin Peight. Also surviving are his maternal grandparents. Mr. Peight was a member of the Rock Haven Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Belleville. He owned and operated Peight's Trucking, a log hauling firm.
