Born Oct. 29, 1926, at Rockhill Furnace, she was a daughter of the late Elbin "Chick" and Nora (Gutshall) Chilcote. She was married to John R. Black June 8, 1947, at the Orbisonia United Methodist Church. Mr. Black preceded her in death Jan. 9. 1994. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Dena M. Baker and Sandra K. Baker, both of HCR 1, Huntingdon, and John R. Black Jr., Ebensburg. There are five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Three sisters survive: Maxine Black, Altoona; Jane Numer, Ebensburg; and Dorothy Kelly, Huntingdon. One brother and one sister are deceased. Mrs. Black was a member of the Calvin United Methodist Church, Calvin. In addition to being a homemaker, she and her husband co-owned Black's Handyman Store, Calvin, for a number of years. In her earlier years, she had worked at Elco. Huntingdon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, with Pastor James Lynn officiating. Interment will be made in Trough Creek Valley Baptist Cemetery, Calvin. Paul YABLONSKI, 72, of Todd, died at 5:06 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born in Cassville, Nov. 9, 1929, he was the son of the late Alex and Mary (Mollish) Yablonski. He married Verda Oelschlager Sept. 29, 1956. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mark Yablonski of Royersford and Ron Yablonski of Huntingdon, and a daughter Nancy Hafey of Apollo Beach, Fla. He is also survived by nine grandchildren. Mr. Yablonski is also survived by three brothers and two sisters. They are: Mike Yablonski of Todd, Helen Long of Columbus, Ohio, Pauline Mokanyk of York, Joe Yablonski of Six Mile Run and Max Yablonski of Burnt Cabins. Two siblings, John Yablonski, formerly of Saxton, and Ann Whited, formerly of York, preceded him in death. Mr. Yablonski was a member of St. Michael's Greek Orthodox Church, in Wood. He served in the Korean Conflict as a corporal in the U.S. Army from February 1951 to February 1953. He attended Thadeus Stevens Trade School for two years. He was retired from PennDOT after 20 years of service. He was also in the mink farming industry and trucking industry for 10 years and served as a senior consultant for two years with Robert Kimball and Associates. During his life, he was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed watching baseball. Funeral services will be held at St. Michael's Greek Orthodox Church at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, with the Rev. Thomas Klein officiating. Interment will be made at St. Michael's Orthodox Cemetery in Wood. Catherine M. PORTER, 84, of Alexandria R.R. 1, died at 11:02 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2002 in the emergency room of Altoona Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near her home earlier in the day. Born February 5, 1918, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late J. Arthur and Minnie W. (Utz) Moorehead. She married Merle K. Porter in Winchester, Va. He preceded in death Dec. 10, 1972. Two sons, Stewart A. Porter and William C. Porter, both of Alexandria, survive. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Moorehead. Mrs. Porter was a member of Christ Reformed Church, UCC, Alexandria. She was a graduate of Altoona High School. She had been retired from Penn State University as a supervisor in resident housing. Mrs. Porter enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, crocheting, knitting and sending cards and well wishes to her friends and others in the community. She was a lifetime resident of Alexandria and had lived at her Porter Township home since 1973. A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Michael Stutzenberg will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main St., Alexandria. Private interment will be made today in Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Andrew RADI JR., 76, of Coronado, Calif., died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, due to cancer. He was born July 6, 1926, in Czechoslovakia and immigrated with his family to the U.S. in 1934. The Family settled in Leetsdale, PA. He is survived by Ann, his wife of 43 years. Three Children also survive: David Radi, Fairfax Station, Va.; Mrs. Peter (Julianne) Hunt, Pensacola, Fla.; and Marc Radi, Coronado, Calilf. There are four grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Helen Powner, of Centennial, Colo., and a brother, Steve Radi, of Englewood, Fla. He was civic-minded, serving twice as Lions Club president and as chairman of the Easter Seal drive. A graduate of Leetsdale High School, Class of 1945, he graduated from Geneva College in 1950. He also earned a master of education degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre in 1945 and 1946. Mr. Radi began a career in teaching and coaching in Pennsylvania in 1951 that spanned over 38 years. During his 27 years as a head football coach at Repogle/Northern Bedford High School, Chief Logan High School, Ambridge High School and Huntingdon Area High School, his teams accumulated 162 wins, to include four undefeated seasons. During the 1959-1961 season, his Chief Logan team compiled 22 consecutive victories, which was the longest winning streak in Pennsylvania. Seven times he was voted Coach of the Year in his conference. In 1991, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame and in 2000 he was voted into the Quaker Valley Sports Hall of Fame. Following retirement in January 1990, he and his wife settled initially in Hampton, Va., before moving to Coronado, Calif., in 1995. Funeral services will be held Aug. 8, at the Naval Air Station North Island Chapel in Coronado. Interment will be made at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Point Loma, Calif. Elwood DAVIS, 77, of Huntingdon, R.R. 3, Henderson Twp., died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born March 17, 1925, at Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Luther I. and Mary (Crownover) Davis. He was married to Anne Hall Oct. 2, 1948, at St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Edmund Manges. Mrs. Davis survives at home. Two children, Ronald M. Davis, Middle Paxton Twp., Harrisburg, and Mrs. Boyd (Patti) Hess, Henderson Twp., Huntingdon, survive. He is also survived by one sister and one brother: Louise Miller, Henderson Twp., Huntingdon, and Luther I. Davis, Huntingdon Manor, Huntingdon. Three grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive. He was preceded in death by one son, James Elwood Davis, in 1994, and one sister, Grace Davis. Mr. Davis was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Henderson Twp., Huntingdon. He was a member of Stone Creek Valley Lions Club and Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion, Huntingdon. He was also a life member of the Smithfield Twp. Volunteer Fire Company. Educated in the Huntingdon Public schools, he graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1942. He attended the Williamsport Technical School prior to serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the American Theatre of Operations, stationed at Lake City, Fla., and in Kansas. He retired , in 1987, from the State Correctional Institution, Huntingdon after 33 years of service as a plumbing trade instructor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Richard L. Shakespeare officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Henderson Twp. Huntingdon. Wendell R. KLING, 78, of 112 Pyle Drive, McConnellsburg, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at his residence. Born Jan. 10, 1924, in Dublin Twp., he was a son of the late Ross Walter and Mary E. (Piper) Kling. He was married to Edna Potts, who preceded him in death. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters: Galen Kling and Mary Jane Locke, both of Shade Gap; John Kling, Carlisle; and Carl Kling and Ruth Ann James, both of Shippensburg. He is also survived by a niece, Faye Potts Wetherell, who was reared in the Kling Home. Two brothers, Boyd and Charles Kling, preceded him in death. Mr. Kling was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church, McConnellsburg. He was a member of the NRA. He was a truck driver for Freuhauf Trucking Co. of Carlisle. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at the Evangel Assembly of God Church, 116 W. Maple, McConnellsburg, with the Rev. Belvy White officiating. Interment will be made in Salem Cemetery. Helen RUTHERFORD, 74, of Cranberry Twp., Butler County, formerly of this area, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, in UPMC Passavant Hospital, after an extended illness. Born Oct. 2, 1927, at Mapleton, she was a daughter of the late M.C. and Evelyn (Leonard) Brenneman. She was married to George R. Rutherford June 29, 1946, in the First Methodist Church, Huntingdon. Mr. Rutherford survives. Four daughters and two sons also survive. They are: Mary Rutherford, Winter Park, Fla.; Deborah Sylvester, Cranberry Twp; Mrs. William (Beverly) Endres, Mars; Mrs. Rodger (Dayna) Ferguson, New Castle; Dean R. Rutherford, Cranberry Twp,; and John W. Rutherford, North Carolina. There are nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. One sister, Joyce Goss, Big Valley, HCR Mill Creek, and one step-brother, William Throckmorton, Zelienople, also survive. Mrs. Rutherford was a member of Grace Community Church, Cranberry Twp. She attended the Huntingdon area Schools. She retired from the Bulk Mail Center, Warrendale, where she had been a personnel assistant. Funeral services were held Aug. 7, at Mars, with the Rev. Matt Kaltenberger officiating. Lois M. (Gratz) CLARK, 90, Country Acres, Huntingdon, R.R. 4, died at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Carlisle Hospital, Carlisle. For the past two months she had been a resident of the church of God Home, 810 N. Hanover St., Carlisle. Born April 20, 1912, at Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Emil G.J. and Lousie (Holthaus) Gratz. She married H. Ford Clark, M.D., Sept. 18, 1937, at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Pittsburgh. Dr. Clark preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1978. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Mrs. L.I. (Judith) Gillette, Carlisle; Mr. F.X. (Janet) Riley Jr., Davidsonville, Md.; and Howard F. "Corky" Clark, Tivoli, N.Y. There are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. There are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One brother, Arthur H. Gratz, St. Louis, Mo., also survives. Mrs. Clark was a member of Huntingdon Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Women's Association and served the church in many capacities. She was a member and past president of the Huntingdon Chapter of the American Association of University Women; a member of the auxiliary to the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital where she served as a volunteer for many years; and a sponsor of the Preceptor Delta Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Huntingdon. Educated in the Pittsburgh public schools, she graduated from Allegheny College, Meadville, with the Class of 1934. She performed graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh. Mrs. Clark was an educator. She accompanied her husband aboard the SS Hope Hospital Ship during its international medical mission. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church, Fifth and Mifflin Streets, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Richard E. Gardiner officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Robert E. "Bob" FISHER SR., 79, of Mapleton, died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon. born Oct. 12, 1922, at Kistler, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Norman J. and Clara M. (Ramsey) Fisher. He was united in marriage to Betty Marie Thomas Nov. 16, 1942, at Baltimore, Md. She survives at home. Two sons and one daughter survive: Robert E. "Butch" Fisher, Mapleton; and Sandra K. McClain, Rockhill Furnace. There are ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Kathleen Long, Mount Union; Lloyd R. Fisher, Fairfield, Calif.; Trella Ostrander, Mapleton; and Sheldon R. Fisher, Centre Hall. One brother, Donald J. Fisher, preceded him in death. Mr. Fisher was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Mapleton, where he was past superintendent of the children's department and a past choir director. He was also past secretary/treasurer of the administrative church board. He was a past grand Tall Juniata Valley Forest No. 88; a member of Juniata Valley Council No. 64; past president of Huntingdon County Shrine Club; a member of The Royal Order of Scotland, Knights of Red Cross of Constantine; a member of Seven Mountains Council No. 65; past illustrious priest of Standing Stone Chapter No. 201; a member of Harrisburg Consistory; past Division No. 6 commander and past commander of Huntingdon Commandry No. 65; a member of Jaffa Temple of Altoona; past worshipful master of Mount Union Lodge F&AM No. 688; a member of Erin Council No. 6 Knight Masons and a member of Mount Union Chapter No. 280 Order of Eastern Star. He was a life member of the Mapleton American Legion Post No. 322; a member of Jacks Mountain Lions Club; a life member of Mapleton Volunteer Fire Co.; a member of Bricktown Senior Citizens; president of Mapleton TV Co.; a member of Mapleton Community Board; past Union Twp. supervisor and secretary; past president of the Mount Union Twp. supervisor and secretary; past president of the Mount Union School Board and a member of the Huntingdon County Chapter of the Gideons. A 1940 graduate of Mount Union High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He retired, in 1984, from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, with 45 years of service as a safety and electrical maintenance engineer. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed both hunting and fishing. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Mapleton, with the Rev. Ed Seeley officiating. Interment will be made in the Mapleton IOOF Cemetery. Marjorie Ethel LEWIS, 90, of 105 Edgecombe Ave., New York, N.Y., died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Susquehanna Nursing Home, Harrisburg. Born March 13, 1912, at Gordonsville, Va., she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Melinda (Armstrong) Lewis. She never married. Three sisters survive; Dorothy Lewis, The Bronx, New York, N.Y.; Elizabeth Glass, Harrisburg; and Ellen Hicks of Arizona. One brother, Joseph Lewis, preceded her in death. Miss Lewis was a member of Abbyssinian Church, Harem, N.Y. She taught Sunday School at her church in The Bronx. She loved sewing, shopping and the culinary arts. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Union, with the Rev. I.S. Owens officiating, Interment will be made in Mount Union Cemetery. Mary L. MCCUE, 75, of Broad Top City, died at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at her home following an extended illness. Born Aug. 29, 1926, at Wood, she was a daughter of the late Wasco and Eva (Warholic) Lashinsky. She was united in marriage to Thomas H. McCue Nov. 28, 1942, at Cumberland, Md. Mr. McCue preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1996. She is survived by one son, Gary McCue, Saxton, R.R., and one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Cindy) Buckley, Huntingdon. There are six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the following brothers and a sister: Pete Lashinsky, Broad Top City; Annie Clark and Paul Lashinsky, both of Six Mile Run; and Wasco Lashinsky Jr., Harry Lashinsky and Steve Lashinsky, all of Wood. She was preceded in death by one son, Steve McCue; two brothers, John and George Lashinsky, and one sister, Helen Miller. Mrs. McCue was a member of the Church of Christ, Huntingdon. She was primarily a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, sewing and baking. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton with Brother Ed Dyche officiating. Interment will be made in the IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City. Mary Joanne "Mary Jo" PRICE, 83, of Porter Twp., Alexandria, R.R. 1, died at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at the Aurora Medical Center, Aurora, Colo. She had been vacationing in Colorado with her daughter and death was sudden and unexpected. Born Aug. 10, 1918, at Tyrone, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas L. and Myrtle (Stouffer) Minemier. She married Roy E. Price June 24, 1940, in Virginia. Mr. Price preceded her in death Jan. 20, 1993. She is survived by one son, Donald J. Price, Tyrone, and one daughter, Mrs. Rodger (Jo Anne) Miller, Fort Lupton, Colo. there are five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George S. Minemier and Gilbert Minemier; and a sister, Helen V. Isenberg. Mrs. Price was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was an active member of the Juniata Valley Senior Citizens Inc. She graduated from Tyrone High School, Tyrone. In 1951, she moved from Blair County and had been a resident of the Alexandria area since that time. After 30 years of service she retired, in 1981, from the Juniata Valley School District where she had been a secretary. Mrs. Price enjoyed playing cards and crocheting. She was an avid bird watcher. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, Juniata Valley Chapel, 412 Main St., Alexandria, with president Richard R. Hark officiating. Private interment will be made in Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery, Alexandria. Carita M. BURDICK, 92, of Mina, formerly of Huntingdon County, died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at her residence. Born April 19, 1910, in Mina, she was the daughter of Albert and Caroline (Klein) Campbell, both deceased. She was united in marriage to George H. Burdick June 25, 1928, in Hamlin, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her husband March 24, 1994. She is survived by three sons: James E. Burdick of Mina, David G. Burdick of Mina, David G. Burdick of Uniontown, Ohio, and F. Alan Burdick of Huntingdon, and two daughters, Alice L. Carpenter of Bradford and Ilene L. Burdick of Mina. Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive. She was preceded in death by one brother, Bernard Campbell. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Gary K. Drum Funeral Home, 2 Bank St., Smethport, with the Rev. Allen D. Young officiating. Interment will be made in Norwich Cemetery, Colegrove. Monsignor Francis ACKERSON, 83, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at the residence of his friend, Thomas A. Yoder, 723 Mifflin St., Huntingdon. Born Dec. 17, 1918, at Staten Island, N.Y., he was a son of the late William and Helen (Sudella) Ackerson. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dr. Helen Ackerson, M.D., and three brothers, William, Edward and Joseph Ackerson. Monsignor Ackerson was ordained a priest in May 1946 by Bishop Richard T. Guilfoyle. He obtained a bachelor of arts in philosophy from St. Francis College and continued his education, obtaining a master's in theology from St. Francis Seminary. He was assistant pastor at St. Patrick's, Newry and Claysburg, from June 7, 1946, to Sept. 8, 1949. He then served as chaplain at St. John's and St. Mary's Homes, Cresson, from Sept. 8, 1949 to June 8, 1961. He was appointed assistant director of Catholic Charities and moderator of the St. Vincent De Paul Society Dec. 9, 1958. From June 8, 1961, to July 10, 1970, he was the pastor at Most Holy Trinity Church, Huntingdon. He was pastor at St. Michael's, Loretto, from July 10, 1970 to Nov. 19, 1972. He also served as director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith at Chapel House. From Nov. 19, 1972, to Jan. 11, 1980, he served as pastor at Immaculate Conception, Johnstown, and returned to Most Holy Trinity Church, Huntingdon, as pastor, from Jan. 11, 1980 to Sept. 8, 1983. He served as pastor at St. Joseph's, Williamsburg, from Sept. 8, 1983, to Oct. 1, 1986. He continued to serve as director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith while living in Loretto until his retirement July 1, 1994. Upon his retirement, he was awarded senior priest status. He received the title of monsignor from Bishop James T. Hogan in 1974. He was an honorary Franciscan TOR. Monsignor Ackerson was awarded the prestigious Prince Gallitzin Cross in 1996. He had been a resident of Huntingdon since August 1997. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel, Loretto, with Bishop Joseph Adamec as the main celebrant. Interment will be made in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Huntingdon. Peggy Louise ERIKSEN, 69, of Penn Twp., Hesston, R.R. 1, died at 10:00, Aug. 10, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Sept. 20, 1932, at Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Thomas H. and Sylvia I. (Stapleton) Kyle. She was married to Robert N. Eriksen June 21, 1952, in the parsonage of the Rev. Bruce Clever, Cassville. Mr. Eriksen preceded her in death Feb. 6, 1996. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Carole) Weitzel, Round Rock, Texas, and two sons, Thomas O. Erikesen, and David R. Eriksen, both of Hesston. There are three grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother and three sisters: Hugh Kyle, Huntingdon; Mrs. Charles (Jane) Swanger, Mill Creek; Mrs. Norman (Kay) Hess, Huntingdon; and Mrs. William (Linda) Thom, James Creek. She was preceded in death by a son, Kelly N. Eriksen, April 3, 1999, and a sister, Joanne Snare Ulsh, May 15, 1987. Mrs. Eriksen attended Hesston Community Chapel, Hesston. A 1949 graduate of Robertdale High School, she was predominately a homemaker although she did work outside the home for a number of years. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and, for a long number of years, made dance costumes. Although she and her late husband had a home in Deland, Fla., she spent most of her life in Huntingdon County. A funeral service, with the Rev. James L. Blair officiating, was held this morning and interment took place, following the 9:30 a.m. service, at the Mount Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Henderson Twp., Huntingdon. Anna M. BOOHER, 91, of 127 Dale Road, Mount Union, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Ave., Huntingdon, where she had been a resident for one week. Death followed a brief illness. Born March 19, 1911, in Shirley Twp., she was a daughter of the late F. Roy and Mildred (Snyder) Wilson. She married Elmer V. Booher Oct. 28, 1933. He preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1983. she is survived by one son, Wilbur W. Booher of Trellis Drive, Mount Union, and one daughter, Vonnie K. Orlowski of Country Club Road, Mount Union. There are 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six brothers and sisters: Lehman Wilson, Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia; Florence Brown and McClellan Wilson, both of Mount Union; Wilbur Wilson, Greencastle; Margaret Gilbert, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Elmer Wilson, Florida. She was preceded in death by two sons, Emmett V. Booher and Samuel L. Booher; a daughter, Constance A. Smith; and two sisters, Lola Wilson and Catherine Danish. TUSSEY, 79, of 1315 Onieda St., Huntingdon, died unexpectedly at 4:42 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at her residence. Born in Bellefonte, Centre County, May 12, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Ada (Shope) Markle. She married Allen W. Tussey in 1939. Mr. Tussey preceded her in death in 1965. Two daughters survive: Shirley A. Mosbey, Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, and Sharon E. Hoffman, Oneida Twp., Huntingdon. There is one grandchild. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Tussey was a member of First United methodist Church, Huntingdon. She attended the State College public schools. Until her retirement, in 1986, she was employed by the First National Bank of Mapleton and its successor, Mellon Bank, N.A. She had been in failing health for the past several months. Born Aug. 16, 1899, at Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Webster and Nellie Levina (McFarland) Wilson. She was united in marriage to Luther T. Bollman June 9, 1918, in Tatesville. Mr. Bollman preceded her in death Oct. 29, 1979. She is survived by four children: Mrs. Willis (Virginia) Filiatreault, Ocala, Fla.; Luther T. Bollman Jr., Sarasota, Fla.; Florence Ridz, Palmer, Mass.; and Dolores Hepschmidt, Liverpool. There are 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. One son, Raymond Bollman, and one brother, Jimmy Wilson, preceded her in death. Mrs. Bollman was a member of the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday School for several years and was an active member of the Bible Study Group. She graduated from Portage High School in 1916. She was primarily a homemaker; however, she had worked for a number of years at the former Scampers Sewing Factory, Saxton. Born July 28, 1926, at Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Floyd C. and Lois (Shultz) Foster. He was married to LaWanda Gracey at Huntingdon June 22, 1947, by the Rev. Tom Garner. Mrs. Foster survives at their home. He is survived by one son, Lee "Jeff" Foster, Nevada, Iowa, and one daughter, Sharon L. Foster, Enola. There are two grandchildren. One sister Myra (Foster) Hawkins, Huntingdon, also survives. A brother, Floyd Foster, preceded him in death. Mr. Foster was a member of First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. He was a past member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 976, Huntingdon; Standing Stone Post No. 1754, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Huntingdon; and Standing Stone Golf Club, Huntingdon. A graduate of Huntingdon High School, Class of 1944, he also graduated, in 1947, from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. From January 1945, through October 1946, he served with the United States Air Force. He retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas in 1986, after 33 years of service. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born May 18, 1935, at Monmouth, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Gustaf and Rebecca (Romine) Carlberg. She was married to Herman C. McNeal Dec. 18, 1967. Mr. McNeal survives at their home. She is survived by three brothers and two sisters: Robert Carlberg, Keithsburg, Ill.; Donald Hawley, Riverside, Calif.; Barbara Scholl, Oquawka, Ill.; Donna Rafferty, Knoxville, Ill.; and Daniel Carlbert, Spoon River, Ill. One brother, William Carlberg, preceded her in death. Mrs. McNeal was of the Protestant faith. She was a homemaker. Along with her husband, she traveled extensively throughout the western United States. Mrs. McNeal was known locally as the "Rock Lady." For the past 15 years, she had displays and exhibits at numerous rock and gem shows, as well as arts and craft shows, throughout central Pennsylvania. Born Feb. 6, 1930, at Saxton, R.R., he was a son of the late Howard Cook and Sara (Coy) Stapleton. He was married to Dorothy M. Brown Dec. 23, 1949, at Cumberland, Md. She preceded him in death March 12, 2002. He is survived by four daughters and three sons: Connie Rundle, Altoona; Sally Brond, Dothan, Ala.; Mary Lynn Ellinger, Telford; Carol Meck, Robertsdale; George Stapleton Jr., New Enterprise; Tim Stapleton, Dudley; and David Stapleton, Seoul, Korea. There are 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A sister, Martha Nufranick, Saxton, also survives. Two sons, Randy and Scotty, preceded him in death. Judith Ann (Hoffer) HUNTSMAN, 51, of Lake Worth, Fla., died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Boynton Beach, Fla., as the result of an accidental drowning. Born May 25, 1951, at Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Paul H. and Mary E. (Peightal) Hoffer, who survive in Petersburg. She was previously married to Dennis Huntsman. A brother, Paul Daniel Hoffer, Pasedena, Md., survives, along with a niece and a nephew. Ms. Huntsman was of the Methodist faith. She graduated from Juniata Valley High School with the Class of 1969. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed helping others. She had been a resident of Lake Worth since 1982. Edward PARLIMAN, 78, of 1314 Scott St., Huntingdon, formerly of Mahwah, N.J. and Wyckoff, N.J., died at 1:10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Bon Secours Regional Health Systems, Altoona. Born April 10, 1924, at Paterson, N.J., he was a son of the late Van Rensler and Mary "Minnie" (Day) Parliman. He was married to Angelina K. Minnocci June 11, 1949, at St. Boniface Church, Paterson, N.J. Mrs. Parliman survives at their residence. He is also survived by one son and two daughters: John A. Parliman, Milford, Mass.; Carol A. Conte, Hillsborough, N.J.; and Jessie Oldham, Huntingdon. There are four grandchildren. One brother, Wilbur C. Parliman, Grand Junction, Colo., also survives. Mr. Parliman attended First Regular Baptist Church, Huntingdon. He attended School No. 4, Paterson, N.J., and graduated from Central High, Paterson, in 1941. He received a BS in civil engineering from Newark College of Engineering in 1949. A veteran of World War II, he served with the United States Army 94th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the purple heart and the bronze star. He was employed by Ammann and Whitney Consulting Engineers in New York City, N.Y., retiring as manager of administration in 1986. He oversaw projects including Verazzano Narrows Bridge; George Washington Bridge, Kortes Dam and Dulles International Airport. An American history buff, he enjoyed model ship building, reading and crossword puzzles. At the request of the family, there will be no public viewing or visitation. A. Lynn CORCELIUS, Esq., 84, of 508 44th Ave., East Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Huntingdon, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Derwood, Md. He had been in failing health for the past eight months. Born Sept. 25, 1917, at Huntingdon, he was a son of the late George E. and Georgie B. (Green) Corcelius. He was united in marriage to Janet M. Johnson April 17, 1948, at Ridgewood, N.J., by the Rev. Dr. Ogle. Mrs. Corcelius survives at the Florida residence. He is survived by three sons and one daughter: The Rev. G. Edward Corcelius, Altoona; William L. Corcelius, Quicksburg, Va.; A. Lynn Corcelius Jr., Kingstowne, Va.; and Kathy A. Corcelius of Derwood, Md. There are 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister: Robert W. Corcelius and Kathryn (Corcelius) Mattern. Mr. Corcelius was a member of First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, where he served on the church council, board of trustees and other church committees. He was a member of the Huntingdon County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and American Bar Association. A member of the Boy Scouts of America, he was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was also a member of Kiwanis Club of Huntingdon; Huntingdon County Business and Industry Inc.; Huntingdon County Historical Society; Standing Stone Post No. 1754, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Huntingdon; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 976, Huntingdon and Mount Moriah Lodge No. 300 F&AM, Huntingdon. He was educated in the pubic schools of Huntingdon and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1934. He received a BA from Juniata College, Huntingdon, in 1938, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Army in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Corcelius was a partner in the law offices of Henry, Corcelius, Gates, Gill & Ody, Huntingdon. He joined with C. Jewett Henry in 1946, to form the law firm. He was Huntingdon County Solicitor for more than 20 years and had also represented J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and Valley Rural Electric Cooperative Inc., both in Huntingdon. He enjoyed reading and was a member of a great books reading group in Huntingdon. He took a great interest in Huntingdon and its history. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Martha H. (Hawn) MCCRUM, 66, of Porter Twp., Alexandria R.R. 1, died at 11:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at her residence. Born Oct. 31, 1935, at Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Foster F. and Anna M. (Norris) Hawn. She was united in marriage to William O. McCrum April 10, 1954, at First Methodist Church, Huntingdon. Mr. McCrum survives at home. One daughter and two sons survive: Mrs. Thomas (Cindy) Anders and Timothy Lee McCrum, both of Alexandria; and William Kent McCrum, Tyrone. There are eight grandchildren. One sister, Jean Holland, McConnellstown, also survives. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Drolsbaugh and Ethel Miller. Mrs. McCrum was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Petersburg, where she had served as chairperson for the Lutheran Church Women. She graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1953. Before her marriage, she had worked for a number of years for Bell Telephone. She later worked for a long number of years a Technitrol, Petersburg, until her retirement in 1992. Mrs. McCrum's main interest was her family. She enjoyed following her children's and grandchildren's many sporting events and other activities. She was an avid camper. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, and the Juniata Valley since 1961, she had lived at her Porter Twp. home for the past 22 years. JONES, 72, of Fairless Hills, formerly of Broad Top City, died at 1:24 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Langhorne. He had been in failing health for the past several years. Born in Dudley Jan. 8, 1930, he was a son of the late William and Irene (Williams) Jones. He was married to Ruth Ann Houck. Mrs. Jones survives. He is also survived by three sisters and one brother: Rachel Stevenson, Dudley; Hazel Lavelle and Martha Rinehart, both of Broad Top City; and Glenn Jones, Clearville. Mrs. Mellott was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Newburg, where she served as administrative council secretary for years. She was also a member and treasurer of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and was the Sunday School pianist. She was also a member of the Quincy United Methodist Home Auxiliary; AARP Chapter No. 2525, Shippensburg; member and chaplain, for many years, of the Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter No. 1063, Chambersburg; former treasurer of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary chapter No. 78; and a member of the board of directors and former fund-raising chairman of the Horsemanship for the Handicapped, Chambersburg. She was also a member of the Golden Age Club, the Go Club and Fortune 55, all of Chambersburg; the Carriage Club, Orrstown; the Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary, McConnellsburg, and the Fulton County Historical Society. She was past president of the Franklin County Society of Farm Women, Group No. 3 and was active in the community in which she lived. After 14 years at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, she retired. She was a mother, homemaker, seamstress and a Spencer corsetier. Born July 12, 1920, in Petersburg, he was a son of the late William C. and Mary E. (Allison) Snyder. He married Martha Crouse Feb. 12, 1941, in Maryland. Mrs. Snyder preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Florence H. (Popa) Galbraith; one daughter, Karen Jean Deibler, Dillsburg; and one son, Michael Joseph Gilbraith, Mechanicsburg. There are four grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Urlene Williamson of North Carolina. Mr. Galbraith was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg. Charles Michael WARFIELD JR., 18, of Warfield Lane, Hustontown, died at 8:08 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at his home. Born Oct. 24, 1983, in McConnellsburg, he was a son of Charles M. Born March 6, 1919, in Clay Twp., he was a son of the late Samuel and Elsie (Hoffman) Stevens. He was married to the former Betty M. Jacka Aug. 14, 1943, in Orbisonia. Mrs. Stevens survives at their home. One daughter, Brenda S. Metzgar, James Creek, survives. There are three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Stevens was a member of Fairview Evangelical Church, Three Springs, where he had served as a trustee and was also a member of the Fairview Memorial Association. He retired from Wible Bottling Works Inc., Three Springs. Prior to that he was employed at Strickler's Dairy and had also worked as a coal miner. After retirement, he was employed by Community State Bank of Orbisonia as a courier/custodian. Jane (Grose) QUERRY, 76, of 114 Hummel St., Johnstown, formerly of Huntingdon, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at the UPMC Lee Regional Hospital, Johnstown, following a brief illness. She had been a resident of Dale Borough, Cambria County, since 1987. Born Nov. 23, 1925, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Harry Frank and Grace Ellen (Brantner) Grose. She married Eston Duane Querry Dec. 6, 1945, in Saint Marys. Mr. Querry preceded her in death May 14, 1979. She is survived by two daughters, Trudy Ellen (Grose) Banks, Johnstown; and Cindy Loretta (Querry) George, Hedgesville, W.Va. There are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death: Richard O. Grose, Steward F.L. Grose, Margaret Bookheimer and Betty L. Riden. Mrs. Querry was of the Protestant faith. She was an adviser for the Vica organization and was a member of the New Jersey Education Association, National Education Association and Retired Teachers Association of New Jersey. A graduate of Huntingdon High School, with the Class of 1943, she was also a graduate of Lewistown School of Beauty and attended Glassboro State Teachers College. A former beautician in Huntingdon, she was a private beauty school teacher and a vocational education teacher in the Cape May Vocational Technical Institute, from which she retired in 1985. KNODE, 76, formerly of Huntingdon, Oneida Twp., died at 8:54 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Derry Twp., Hershey. She had been a resident of Valley View Haven Retirement Community, Belleville, since May 2001, having lived at her Oneida Twp residence since 1981. Born Dec. 2, 1925, in Tyrone, she was a daughter of the late Cloyd and Jane (McMullen) Wilson. She had formerly been married to Lee E. Knode Sr. Mr. Knode preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Sandra E.) Bilger, James Creek; and three sons: Lee M. Knode Jr. Huntingdon: Paul M. Knode, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Kenneth F. Knode Mount Union. Born Aug. 26, 1920, in Neelyton, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Pearl (Ritchey) Kearns. She was married to Harry D. Boggs, who preceded her in death May 29, 1982. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Mrs. Ronald (June) O'Donnell, Willow Hill; Mrs. Robert (Marlene "Marty") E. Stockslager, Greencastle; and Russell E. Boggs, Jacksonville. Born Oct. 5, 1916, in Shirley Twp., Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis W. and Bertha (Shope) Morgan. She was married to Boyd D. Walls on Oct. 3, 1942, at Winchester, Va. Mr. Walls preceded her in death June 9, 1993. Surviving is one brother, Fred B. Morgan of HCR 60, Orbisonia. Three brothers, William, Benjamin and Howard, preceded in death. Mary Jean (Johnson) WALKER, 78, most recently of Deforrest Apartments, Huntingdon, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Christ the King Manor in Dubois where she had resided for the past three months. Born Sept. 28, 1923, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Charles Clair and Mary Alma (Young) Johnson. She is survived by one son, John S. "Skip" Walker of Dubois. One granddaughter also survives along with a sister, Mrs. James (Gladys) Rohland of Hesston, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Huntingdon. During her life she was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed crewel needlework. Linda Joy MILLS, 59, of Huntingdon R.R. 4, died at 2:33 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at the emergency room of Altoona Hospital. Death was unexpected. Born Jan. 8, 1943 in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Harry D. and Luella H. (Houp) Mountain. She married Robert E. Mills, June 25, 1960, at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Huntingdon. Mr. Mills survives at their home. She is survived by three sons: Robert D. Mills of Three Springs and Mark J. Mills and David D. Mills both of Huntingdon. Also surviving is a half-brother Dale S. Houp of Huntingdon. Mrs. Mills was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in McConnellstown. Mr. Hollingshead preceded her in death March 23, 1995. One son and one daughter survive: William F. Hollingshead, Baden; and Mrs. Raymond (Judith) Nielsen, Texarkana, Ark. Born Feb. 5, 1914, in Mill Creek, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Louisa J. (Hetrick) Culbertson. She is survived by a daughter, Mr. Bobby (Joan) Dell, Ballwin; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One son, John, preceded her in death. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Sheaffer and Lola Laird. Born April 26, 1944, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Leonard D. and Mary Jo (Nairn) Sheehan. He was married to Donna J. Lundberg Oct. 7, 1967, at Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Lilly. Mrs. Sheehan preceded him in death March 14, 2001. One daughter and two sons survive: Mrs. Michael (Corinne) Parent, Genmantown, Md., and Timothy A. Sheehan and Cullen L. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. As a child, Mr. Cornish attended the Six Mile Run Church of God. He was a graduate of Broad Top High School. He worked as a coal miner. during his lifetime he enjoyed music and repairing mechanical items. Drake St., Mount Union, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at his home. He had been a hospice patient since July and died following an extended illness. Born Sept. 1, 1920, in Vineyard, Wayne Twp. Mifflin County, he was a son of Andrew and Anna (Chronowsko) Los. He was united in marriage to Edna B. "Peg" Baker July 4, 1959, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Mount Union, by the Rev. Oller. Mrs. Los survives at their home. Two children survive: Michael Andrew Los Jr., Anrora, Colo., and Teresa A. Mykut, Huntingdon. There are five grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters: Louis Los, Huntingdon; Sophie Semla, McVeytown; and Stella Los, Mount Union. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Los, and two infant siblings, Joseph and Mary Los. Mr. Los was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Mount Union, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 6106. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 107, Mount Union. He graduated from mount Union High School in 1941. He entered the U.S. Army Oct. 21, 1942, and saw active duty in the South Pacific, having served with the 44th tank battalion. He was honorably discharged Nov. 17, 1945. Following his military service he worked for a short time as a groundskeeper for J.C. Blair Hospital and then, for over 32 years, was employed in the shipping department of Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Huntingdon from which he retired. Mr. Los enjoyed gardening. Born Jan. 2, 1929, in Shirleysburg, he was a son of the late David W. and Naomi T. (Newman) Runk. He was married to Janet Hobbs. She survives at their home. SMITH, 86, formerly of Smithfield, died at 3:55 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon, where she had resided for the past 18 months. Born July 21, 1916, in Troxelville, she was a daughter of the late Ira Casper and Florence (Fleegle) Peters. She was united in marriage to Marshall L. Smith Oct. 12, 1935. Mr. Smith preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1970. She is survived by seven children: Robert L. Smith, Huntingdon; James E. Smith, James Creek; Esther V. Evans and Joan D. Cassatt, both of Huntingdon; Thomas M. Smith, Huntingdon; Bonnie S. Caldarale, Vincentown, N.J.; and Connie M. Cuccaro, Franklin, N.J. There are 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Three sisters and one brother survive: Donna Rainey, Huntingdon; James Peters, Vero Beach, Fla.; Betty Anderson, Newark, Del.; and Helen McKinney, Martinsburg. Five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death: William Querry, Hayes Peters, John Peters, Jack Peters, Glen Peters, Evelyn Satta and Gladys Reed. Mrs. Smith was a member of Shadyside Free Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed being in her church and working in the garden with her flowers. York, died at 7:12 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, as a result of an auto accident on Rout 222 North, West Earl Twp., Lancaster County. Born Nov. 19, 1982, in Hershey, he was the son of William Mottin of Sewell, N.J. and Connie (Queen) Wolfe of York. His parents survive. He is survived by one sister, Lauren Wolfe, York. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents: Jess and Flurene Queen, Calvin; his paternal grandmother, Gladys Mottin, Johnstown; his paternal step-grandfather, John R. Wolfe Sr., Altoona; his stepfather, John R. Wolfe Jr., York; and his stepmother, Joy Mottin, Sewell, N.J. Mr. Mottin was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, York, where he was active in the youth group. A 2001 graduate of Central York High School, he was a varsity letterman for the football team and a volunteer coach for the freshman football program. He was an apprentice with the Kinsley Construction Company, York. Caroline Miriam KYPER, 98, formerly of 1605 Moore St., Huntingdon, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon, where she had been residing. Born June 15, 1904, at her family home in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late George J. and Lulu (Baker) Kyper. She is survived by one son, Joseph E. Norris, Huntingdon. There are three grandsons and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers: Laura Randolph, Ida Lewis, Jean Cowher, Josephine Greenleaf, Lavita Kyper, Frances Kyper, Harry Kyper and George Kyper. Mrs. Kyper was a life member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 1019 Moore St., Huntingdon. She attended the Huntingdon Public schools. She had primarily been a homemaker. Until moving to Huntingdon Manor recently, Mrs. Kyper had resided at her family home at 1605 Moore St., since birth. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Ruth E. PROUGH, 94, a resident of Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon, for the past two years, formerly of 511 N. Jefferson St., Mount Union, died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at the manor. Born Aug. 24, 1908, in Vineyard, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Charles N. and Mary Irene (Smith) Irvin. She was first married to Fred Montgomery, then married a second time to John F. Myers, both of whom preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Clair E. Prough March 17, 1946. He preceded her in death July 17, 2000. The following children survive: Mary Lou Nickoloff, Silverford Heights, Mount Union; William C. Myers, Newton Hamilton; Donald J. Myers and Stephen C. Prough, both of Allenport, Mount Union; W. Elaine Stevens, Three Springs; Wendell L. "Sonny" Myers, Lakemont, Altoona; Jack H. Myers, Alexandria; Bonnie K. Barr, Altoona; Linda M. Fox, Hastings, Fla.; Richard A. Prough, York; Thomas D. Prough, Danville; and Ronald E. Prough, Mount Union. There are 55 grandchildren, 107 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister: Charles Irvin, Mifflintown; Kenneth Irvin, Ocala Fla.; Richard Irvin, Hastings, Fla.; and Sally Mazza, Vero Beach, Fla. She was preceded in death by three children: Patricia Ann Prough, Phyllis J. Fox and Robert F. Myers; and the following brothers and sisters: William Irvin, Naomi Keller, Mary Eardley, Mildred Burrell, Leroy Irvin, Thelma Mazzaro, Frank Irvin and Paul Irvin. Mrs. Prough was of the Methodist faith. She worked on the railroad during World War II, at the Juniata roundhouse. She had also worked for L. Greif Bros. AWKERMAN, 80, of 34 Abbey Court, South Middleton Twp., Carlisle, died Thursday morning. Aug. 29, 2002, at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center, Carlisle. Born May 5, 1922, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Emma (Miller) Steele. She is survived by her husband, Charles C. Awkerman. Four daughters survive: Pamela B. Awkerman, Falls Church, Va.; Paula G. Snyder and Linda G. Cavanagh, both of Carlisle; and Emily J. Awkerman, San Diego, Calif. There are three grandsons. A sister, Jane Montz, East McKeesport, also survives. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Steele. Mrs. Awkerman was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Carlisle. She was a member of the Penn State Booster Club and the ladies of the Elks No. 578, Carlisle. She had attended Penn State University. HARSHBARGER, 91, formerly of Mount Union, R.R. 1, but since May, a resident of Meadowview Manor, McVeytown, R.R. 1, died early Saturday morning, Aug. 31, 2002, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Death was unexpected. Born Nov. 9, 1910. in Bratton Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Caleb and Tillie (Miller) Harshbarger. He was united in marriage to Sarah Martha Underwood June 14, 1933, in Hagerstown, Md., by the Rev. J.M. Carter. Mrs. Harshbarger survives. He is survived by one brother and two sisters: Wilber Harshbarger, Mifflintown; Lorma Jane Moist, McVeytown; and Mary Isabel Knepp, Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and the following brother and sisters: Edna Moist, Joseph Harshbarger, Mabel Harshbarger. Effie Moist, Elva Hesser and Bessie Ronk. Mr. Harshbarger was a member of the Nazarene Church of Rockhill Furnace. He was a lifetime farmer, having operated farms in both Burnt Cabins and Hares Valley. He was an avid hunter. HETRICK, 78, of 9586 Raystown Road, Saxton, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona, following an extended illness. Born April 27, 1924, in Shy Beaver, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Dewey and Martha (Russell) Treece. She was united in marriage to William L. Hetrick who preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Maureen Kay Hall, Saxton, R.R., with whom she resided, and one son, Stanley Wayne Hetrick, Elizabethtown. There are 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. One brother and two sisters survive: Fred Treece. James Creek, R.R. 1; Letty Barto, Elkton, Md.; and Jane Brosseau, Belair, Md. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers: June Brindle, Ruby Johns, Russell Treece, Ronald Treece and John Franklin Treece. Mrs. Hetrick was a member of Russellville Reformed Church, James Creek, R.R. 1, and attended Raystown Brethren Church, Saxton, R.R. She was a member of the Broad Top Area Senior Citizens. For a number of years, she had worked at Cove Shoe Factory, Martinsburg. She retired from Elco, Huntingdon, in 1987, following 27 years of service. Interment will be made in Russellville Reformed Cemetery, James Creek, R.R. 1. Laura M. WOODWARD, 84, a resident of Huntingdon Manor, Warm Springs Avenue, Huntingdon, formerly of Mount Union, died at 12:13 am. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at the manor, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 7, 1917, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth C. and Martha E. (Banks) Price. She was married to Harry E. Woodward, who preceded her in death. She is survived by the following children: Donna Drake, Mill Creek: June Stewart, Kistler; Patricia Drake and Sharon L. Vaughn, both of Mount Union, R.R.; and Butch Woodward Sr., Mapleton. There are 23 grandchildren. 39 great-grandchildren, five step greatgrandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Pauline Pollock of Mechanicsburg, survives. She was preceded in death by two children, Martha Lauver and Terry Jack Woodward; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Harry and Howard Price. Mrs. Woodward was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Mount Union. She attended the Mount Union schools. In the past, she was very active in the community as a volunteer, for which she received many awards, including having worked as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Mount Union and helping with fund drives for the American Cancer Society. She had worked at Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon. An avid sports fan, she also enjoyed country music and dancing. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. with the Rev. Gordon Ross officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery.
