Blair Memorial Hospital. She had been ill since February and been admitted to the hospital as a patient last Tuesday. She was born at Duncansville on May 16, 1904, a daughter of James William and Nellie May (Lingenfelter) Gunnett. She was united in marriage to J. Oscar Bergantz of Huntingdon on Sept. 30, 1947, the ceremony being performed at the Hicks Memorial Methodist Church in Duncansville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, 2nd Lt. Joseph L. Bergantz, Kitzingen, Germany. She is also survived by three sons by a former marriage: Roy D. Davis, Duncansville; Calvin E. Davis, Fort Myers, Fla.; Carl A. Davis, McConnellstown. Two step-sons, Walter S. Bergantz, Silver Spring, Md., and Robert L. Bergantz, Conestoge, R.D., survive along with nine grandchildren. There is one surviving brother, George Nelson Gunnett, Altoona, Mrs. Bergantz was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. She served as postmaster at Duncansville for 14 years, retiring in 1947. For three years she served as Huntingdon County secretary of the American Heart Association, retiring just last month. In that position she was active in the association's annual fund drive. She also had been active in the Huntingdon County Chapter, The National Foundation, and had been Mother's March chairman for the MOD. She was an honorary member of the MOD board. Private funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at the convenience of the family at Brown's funeral home, Huntingdon. The Rev. Walter S. Smith will officiate and interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 p.m., Monday. It is the request of the family that flowers be omitted at the funeral; those wishing to make memorial contributions may send them to the Huntingdon County Chapter, American Heart Association or the Huntingdon County Chapter, American Cancer Society.
