'Bill' Bonsell, 73, of Spruce Creek, died at 4:35 p.m. Friday, August 12, 1988, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Oxnard of Irondale, Ohio. Mr. Bonsell had made his home there since he became ill in October, 1987. He was born December 21, 1914, in Spruce Creek, the son of Joseph P. and Effie Mae (Chilcote) Bonsell. On September 10, 1938, he was united in marriage to Clara M. Gill, who preceded him in death September 15, 1980. He is survived by his daughter, Frances Ann Oxnard of Irondale, Ohio, and four grandchildren. One daughter and a granddaughter, Denise Lane Oxnard, preceded him in death. One brother and one sister survive: Norman Bonsell of Lewisberry and Mrs. Dorothy Anderson Woodring of York. Four brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Bonsell was a member of the Lower Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church. He served in World War II from 1942 to 1945, achieving the rank of technical sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany and France. He was a retired engine man with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, the Veterans of Foreign War in Tyrone, the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 494, Tyrone, and the William P. Spyker American Legion Post 520 in Alexandria. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 15, at the Grove Funeral Home, Alexandria, the Rev. Samuel T. Lewis III officiating. Interment will be made in Seven Stars Cemetery, Franklin Township. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Bonsell's name to the Lower Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church, Spruce Creek. Daily News, Huntingdon, Pa., August 13, 1988, page 2
