Bonsell, 79, of Spruce Creek died Monday at 7:15 p.m. at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Altoona, Pa. He was born Oct. 16, 1899, at Altoona, a son of John P. and Effie Mae (Chilcote) Bonsell. He was twice married, first to Elva Sankey, who preceded him in death, then to Flossie Heberling, who died January 1, 1972. He is survived by four brothers and two sisters: Carl S. Bonsell, Shirleysburg; Mrs. Mirrel Smith, York; Mrs. Dorothy Woodring, York; Norman B. Lewisberry; Joseph M., Tyrone; and Gerald W., Spruce Creek. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. He was a former member of the Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the William P. Spyker Post 520 American Legion of Alexandria, and a charter member and life member of the Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1754 of Huntingdon. He had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a bridge inspector with the B. and B. Department of Altoona. He retired in 1964 after 49 years service. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Robert I. Grove Funeral Home, Alexandria, with the Reverend Clarence Beckwith officiating. Interment will be at Seven Stars Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Tyrone Daily Herald, November 6, 1978
