Brady, aged 79, of 505 Sixth avenue, this city, a retired Juniata shopman, and Jacob Bottle, aged 60, an Austrian laborer residing at Pemberton, met death on the Middle division of the Pennsy yesterday morning shortly after 9 o'clock, while attempting to cross tracks ahead of approaching trains. Jacob Bottle, who resided at Pemberton, was killed west of Union furnace at 9.55 o'clock, when he tried to cross ahead of local freight No. 2712. His death may be credited to deafness. The freight, going westward, was backing a draft of eleven cars on the hill track and Bottle walked closed to the tracks as the train approached. He was called to by a member of the train crew but failed to hear. Moving across the tracks directly in front of the train he was struck and instantly killed. His body was picked up and taken to Tyrone, where it was prepared for burial by Undertaker Samuel Graham. Bottle was born in Austria and had lived in America less than fifteen years. He was not married and had no close relatives in this country. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday Morning, November 21, 1916
