Briggs, 88, of Orbisonia, died at 11:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at the Woodland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Orbisonia. Born Feb. 19, 1927, in Rockhill, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Ethel (Potts) Painter. She was united in marriage to Richard Briggs April 5, 1953, in Trenton, New Jersey. Mr. Briggs preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1977. Mrs. Briggs is survived by two daughters, Eileen House and husband, H. Kirk, of Mechanicsburg, and Sue Briggs of Orbisonia; two grandsons, Kyle DiRaddo and Troy R. DiRaddo; and a stepgranddaughter, Heather House. She is also survived by a brother, James Painter and wife, Nancy, of Glenside. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Painter and Enver “Tag” Painter. Mrs. Briggs was of the Protestant faith. She retired as a secretary from the Woodland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Orbisonia. Prior to that, she had been employed as a secretary at the Southern Huntingdon County Medical Center, Orbisonia, the Rockhill Elementary School and at the former Orbisonia High School. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Orbisonia Cemetery with Rev. Myrtle McCall officiating. There will be no public viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Briggs may be made to the Woodland Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 18889 Croghan Pike, Orbisonia, PA 17243, or to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 Schoolhouse Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652. Arrangements are under the direction of the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia.
