Retired Penelec Supervisor Dies Walter S. Buck Sr., 74, of Warriors Mark RD 1, former Altoonan and a retired stores supervisor for the Pennsylvania Electric Co., was dead on arrival at Tyrone Hospital at 1.05 a.m. today, Aug. 28, 1970, from his home. Death resulted from a heart attack. He was born at Warriors Mark April 16, 1896, a son of Isaac S. and Lillie (Waite) Buck, and married Margaret Keller of Warriors Mark in Buffalo, N.Y. Surviving are his wife, a son, Walter Jr., at Polk State Hospital, and two sisters, Mrs. Alma Nearhoof of Warriors Mark and Mrs. Hazel Oliver of Huntingdon. Mr. Buck was a veteran of World [War] I service overseas with Company G, and was a member of James L. Noble post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Altoona Barracks, World War I Veterans. He attended Dickinson Seminary, Williamsport, and Pennsylvania Business College., Lancaster, and began his utility career in 1925 at Ebensburg. In 1946 he was named general storekeeper for the electric company in Altoona and later Eastern Division stores supervisor from which he retired in 1961.
