Funeral services are under the direction of Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home. She was born February 19, 1927 in Mapleton Depot, to Murble and Gladys Kyler. She married Russel E. Cassady on August 10, 1945 in Mount Union. He preceded her in death March 24, 1994. Betty lived in Portage, IN 45 years before moving to Elkhart. Mrs. Cassady is survived by one daughter, Sonja Cassady, of the same address, one son, Russel E. Cassady Jr. of Ft. Myers and one granddaughter, Morgan Sonja Cassady of Adel, GA. She has one surviving sister and one brother. She was a homemaker whose family came first, especially her children's school activities, her church and choir, and a passel of friends whom she followed throughout their lives. Travel was an integral part of her and her husband's lives. Their hobby took them to 51 states. She loved to laugh, read, laugh, listen to fine music and laugh. She was immediately loved by all who met her as one with a positive attitude, a giving spirit and a hearty laugh. The life Mrs. Cassady has let speaks for her. It is in that life that she is and will be remembered.
