Deceased born in Orbisonia July 14 and lived in this vicinity his entire life. His parents were Benjamin Franklin and La Rue Miller Chilcoat both deceased. He was 71 years, 9 months, and 26 days at the time of his death. Mr. Chilcoat was for many years an employee of the East Broad Top Railroad and Coal Company. He began as a laborer on March 19, 1881, and was promoted to brakeman October 1 1891. March 1, 1900 he was again promoted to conductor which position he held until the day of his death. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church his entire life always active in Church Work and for many years a trustee. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and the Masonic Lodge he was Past Master of the local lodge of the Masons serving from December 27, 1906 until December 27, 1907. He was always active in the lodge work. Mr. Chilcoat is survived by his wife Margaret Juanita B. Chilcoat of Rockhill Furnace, the following children Luden K. of Mount Union Clarence V. of Wilmerding, Pa. and Howard E. of Pittsburgh, Pa. and the following brothers and sisters, A.O. Chilcoat, Mount Union, Sarah A. Neal, Rockhill Furnace, Rebecca Chilcoat, Grand Junction, Col., and Mrs. Mary G. Norcross of Mount Union, Pa. Funeral services will be held in the home of the deceased, Friday, Mary 13, 2:30 p.m. the Rev. Ira Duvall officiating. Internment I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Funeral directed by Frank Heidel.
