Chilcote of Rockhill Furnace, a former superintendent of the East Broad Top Railroad, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. R. Burkholder of 107 West Market Street, Mount Union, at 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 1960, following an extended illness. He was born September 5, 1878, in Orbisonia, a son of Edmund B. and Margaret (Buchanan) Chilcote. He was married to Miss Essie Lamberson of Orbisonia on October 22, 1904. His wife is surviving along with three daughters, Mrs. J. R. (Christine) Burkholder of Mount Union, Mrs. Isabel Corson of Lock Haven and Mrs. Phyllis Steiner of Sebring, Fla. There are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Howard E. Chilcote of Santa Ana, Calif. The Chilcotes made their first home in Rockhill Furnace where Mr. Chilcote was train dispatcher for the East Broad Top Railroad. Prior to this he had taught school for four years. In 1927 he became superintendent of the EBT and in 1956 he retired. He attended the Orbisonia Methodist church and was a charter member of the Mount Union F and AM where he was past master. Mr. Chilcote was a past commander of the Huntingdon Consistory and past high priest of the Huntingdon Chapter. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday from the Clark funeral home in Mount Union. The Rev. Kenneth R. Arthur, pastor of the Orbisonia Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Orbisonia Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. on Friday. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
