Thursday, February 5, 1953; p18. Hugh Johnson Clarke died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Keith of McConnellstown Road, Huntingdon R. D. 1, on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 4, 1953. He was born March 29, 1874, at Monroe Furnace and was a son of Thomas Clarke and Margaret (Moffitt) Clarke. His wife, the former Clara Margaret (Quinn) Clarke died eleven years ago. Mr. Clarke was a member of the First Methodist Church of Huntingdon and prior to his retirement had worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Highways for thirty-two years. He is survived by the following children: Thomas A. Clarke and Hugh J. Clarke, both of Altoona; Mrs. Willa A. Ryder, of Manor Hill, and Mrs. Mary M. Keith, of McConnellstown Road. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Three children and one brother are deceased. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home of Robert W. Keith, McConnellstown Toad, in charge of the Rev. Gilbert L. Bennett of the First Methodist Church of Huntingdon. Interment will be made in the Mooresville cemetery, directed by Temple’s funeral service.
