Clippinger Elsie Marie Fields Clippinger, 80, of HCR73, Three Springs, died at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held March 18 at the M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, with Pastor Jim MacQuarrie officiating. Interment was made in Center Cemetery, RD Waterfall. Born Feb. 13, 1922, in Clay Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late George and Viola (McClain) Fields. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Samuel Wilson Clippinger of Three Springs, whom she married on Sept. 20, 1944. She is survived by 14 children: Esther Scott, Fort Walton Beach, Fla..; Roger Clippinger, Hagerstown, Md.; Elaine Miller, Hagerstown, Md.; Freda Miller, McConnellsburg; George Clippinger, Needmore; Donald Clippinger, Three Springs; Donna Ritter, Wichita Falls, Texas; Mary Swartz, Huntingdon; Fred Clippinger, Three Springs; Glenda Machia, Lancaster; Anita Clippinger, Ephrata; James Clippinger, Hustontown; Robert Clippinger, Hustontown; and Carl Clippinger, Robertsdale. Mrs. Clippinger is also survived by two sisters and three brothers: Mary Cornell of Everett, Violet Haun of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Raymond Fields of Three Springs, Jesse Fields of Three Springs and Glenn Fields of Tyrone. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter preceded her in death. A farm wife and devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family. She was a published poet and wrote many short stories for which she received awards. She attended Cherry Grove School and received her GED in 1984. She was a member of Cherry Grove Church of God, RD Three Springs.
