Reno Cornelius, a student of the Normal college at this place, died at his home in Shirleysburg on Monday morning, after an illness of but two days. He was called home on Thursday last, by a letter announcing the sickness of his brother. He repaired to his bedside in the enjoyment of good health, and remained so until Saturday evening when he suddenly complained of a pain in his heart and back. He soon became unconscious and remained so until he died. He suffered great agony but nothing could be done to alleviate it. The funeral took place on Tuesday and was largely attended by the many friends of the young man, whose character and habits endeared him to all. The officiating clergymen took the opportunity of counseling Reno's companions to prepare for the future world, holding out to them the Biblical phrase, "the son of man cometh at a time when ye think not." It was the writer's privilege to enjoy the acquaintance of the deceased gentleman, and he found him possessed with a kind nature, good habits and an eager inclination for study. He was the son of Mr. G. W. Cornelius, the postmaster at Shirleysburg, and died at the age of 21 years, 4 months and 27 days.
