Covert, 75, of HCR 60, Orbisonia, died at 9:47 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at the Altoona Hospital, Altoona. Funeral services were held March 17 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor Myers Kimmel officiating. Interment was made in the IOOF Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace. Born Nov. 8, 1926, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Leslie W. and Lucinda F. (Runk) Covert. He was married to Joyce L. Cohenour on May 9, 1953. Mrs. Covert survives at their home. He is survived by three sons and four daughters: Richard A. Covert of Shirleysburg, Susan B. Grove of Shirleysburg, Cathy L. Gilliland of HCR 60 Orbisonia, Galen R. Covert of HCR 60 Orbisonia, Marlene D. McClure of Shirleysburg, Brian K. Covert of HCR 60 Orbisonia and Lesley D. Shoemaker of Spring Run. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Covert is survived by two brothers and five sisters: Clifford Covert of Orbisonia, Amanda Plank of Shirleysburg, Dorothy Fields of Three Springs, Mildred Booher of Orbisonia, John B. Covert of Venice,. Fla., Erma Ulsh of Rockhill Furnace and Esther P. Covert of Huntingdon. A sister, Myrtle Knepper, and two brothers, Wilbert Covert and E. Leroy Covert, preceded him in death. He attended the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, Rockhill Furnace. A lifelong dairy farmer, he retired in 1987 from Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union.
