Assistant Track Foreman at Spruce Creek John K. Cresswell, assistant track foreman of section No. 53, middle division, was instantly killed three hundred yards west of Spruce Creek last Monday at 10.22 o'clock. Mr. Cresswell and his men were working on a sharp curve on No. 3 track. A freight train moved along on No. 2 track, making considerable noise, so much so that Mr. Cresswell did not hear the rapid approach of passenger No. 75, that bore down upon him on No. 3 track. The foreman was instantly killed, his mangled remains were gathered up and brought to Samuel Graham's undertaking establishment where they were prepared for burial. Railroad officials at the station stated to a reporter of this paper that the men have been warned over and over again in regard to standing on the tracks when freight or passenger trains were in motion. The unfortunate man was single and is survived by an aged mother and a sister.
