KILLED - Lt. Col. Dare, of Huntingdon, was killed during the late 
battles in Virginia. He was attached to the 5th Penna. Reserves.  His 
mother and sisters reside in Newry, this co.  Lt. Col. Miles, of the 
49th P. V., son of John G. Miles, Esq., was also killed in the same 
battles.

County.

The county was represented in other Pennsylvania regiments as follows: 
34th Regiment, 5th reserves - mustered into service, June 21, 1861; 
mustered out June 11, 1864; George Dare, promoted from major to 
lieutenant-colonel, August 1, 1862; killed at Wilderness, May 6, 1864
