Huntingdon, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002. at his home. Born Oct. 30, 1919, in Portage, he was a son of the late Siman "Sam" and Anna (Chernsky) Fujka (later changed to Fuiek). He was twice married. The first union was to Olga Turanyi, July 12, 1945, in Columbia, S.C. She preceded him in death Aug. 20, 1991. He was married to Lela (Luther) Weaverling Jan. 2, 1993, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. David A. Lockard. Mrs. Fuiek survives at their home. He is survived by four daughters and one son: Mrs. William (Sandra) Shives, Mount Union; Mrs. Vaughn (Joan) Thompson, Huntingdon; Margo Fuiek, State College; Mrs. Dan (Linda) Lynch. Lewistown; and Paul Fuiek, Petersburg. There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two step-sons. Robert Weaverling, Montrose, Col., and Barry Weaverling, Huntingdon, R.R. 2; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Five sisters and one brother survive: Helen Silverman, Lynwood, N.Y.; Margot Pebbles and Catherine Kramer, both of San Antonio, Texas; Dorothy Petkovsek, Cleveland, Ohio: Grace Chuba, Wickliffe, Ohio: and Richard Fuiek, Kennesaw, Ga. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Joy Thompson and Ian Fuiek, and one stepson, Bruce Neal Weaverling. Four sisters and two brothers preceded him in death: Mary Schor, Elizabeth Clogher, Rosemary Lowe, Jean Pesarchick, Paul Fuiek and Edward Fuiek. Mr. Fuiek was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Huntingdon, for the past 48 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus; AFL-CIO/United Labor Council: a member and past commander of Standing Stone Post 1754 VFW, Huntingdon; and the McAlevys Fort Civic Club. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1940 and received a field commission to 2nd lieutenant during the Pacific Campaign of World War II. Following the war he entered the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, retiring from there in 1979 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He first worked as a farmer and a coal miner. After moving to Huntingdon in 1954, he was hired by SCI-Huntingdon, retiring Nov. 18, 1981, as a sergeant. While he was there, he was instrumental in obtaining union representation for the prison staff. For many years, he had been a Little League and Teener League coach. Following his retirement, he was very active in church and community service and found great enjoyment in his family and traveling. A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Sixth and Washington streets, Huntingdon, with the Rev. David J. Arseneault officiating. Committal will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery, Huntingdon. Frances L. GRIMES, 67, of 105 Spring Garden Estates, Carlisle, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002. in Carlisle Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 22, 1935, in Waynesburg, she was a daughter of the late Fred A. and Louise I. (Dorn) Mills. She was married to Daniel J. Grimes Jr. Mr. Grimes died Sept. 17, 2000. She is survived by two sons and two daughters; D. Michael Hileman, Palm Harbor, Fla.; Jeffrey L. Hileman, Carlisle; Kimberly L. Strizzi, Mount Holly Springs; and Karen S. Trego, Halifax. One stepson, Richard L. Grimes, and one stepdaughter. Connie Etter, both of Carlisle, also survive. Two brothers survive: Edward Mills, Mount Union; and Joseph Mills, Staunton, Va. There are 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Burgess. Mrs. Grimes was a member of Tree of Life Church, Carlisle, where she was active in the Tuesday Bible study class. She was a 1953 graduate of Captain Jack Joint High School, Mount Union. She retired from the Carlisle Barracks Commissary, where she had worked for more than 10 years. She worked part-time at the Dickinson College dining hall until her final illness. She was an avid bingo player. Memorial services were held in Tree of Life Church with her pastor, the Rev. David S. Herr, officiating. Eleanor R. (Gentry) MAGILL, 72, of R.R. 1, Box 19, Huntingdon, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 4, 2002 at JC. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following an extended illness. Born April 6, 1930, in Hollidaysburg, she was a daughter of Robert H. and Jeanette (Sleek) Gentry. Her mother survives in Harrisburg; her father preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Glenn Albert Magill Oct. 1, 1949, in Hollidaysburg, by the Rev. Gordon Rigby. Mr. Magill preceded her in death Nov. 19, 2000. She is survived by one daughter and four sons: Barbara Kay Stapleton, McConnellstown: David Glenn Magill, Bedford; and Stephen Robert Magill, Kevin Lee Magill and Dennis Scott Magill, all of Huntingdon. There are nine grandchildren. Two sisters survive: Marguerite (Gentry) Reynolds, Harrisburg, and Patricia (Gentry) Brubaker, Lancaster. She was preceded in death by one grandson and two brothers, Robert H. Gentry Jr. and John David Gentry. Mrs. Magill was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, McConnellstown. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Altoona, and Woodcock Valley Lioness Club. She had been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the American Cancer Society, both in Huntingdon. She attended public schools in Hollidaysburg and graduated from Hollidaysburg High School with the class of 1948. A homemaker, she had lived at her Walker Township residence since 1963. She enjoyed traveling, needlework and spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, Dec. 7, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Dr. Keith A. Kensinger officiating. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon, R.R. 1. Dorothy C. MORGAN, 84, of North Canton, Ohio, died Thursday morning, Dec. 5, 2002, in the Heather Ridge Commons, North Canton. Born in Robertsdale, she was a daughter of the late Eli and Mary (Parlier) Corrie. She was united in marriage to Jessie Morgan who preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1993. She is survived by one daughter and two sons: Mrs. David (Jane Marie) Bridenstine, Canton, Ohio; Larry Morgan, Massillon, Ohio; and William Morgan, North Canton, Ohio. There are seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by by one sister, Ruth Loeber, Cape Coral, Fla., and one brother, Thomas Corrie, Homosassa, Fla.. She was preceded in death by one sister, Marguarite Smith and one brother, Willie Corrie. Mrs. Morgan was an active member of the Eleventh Street Church of God, Canton. Before moving to North Canton in 1959, she owned and operated Morgan’s Confectionery in Robertsdale. She graduated from Malone College in 1967 and retired from Perry Local Schools in 1983. Florence Iona "Muzzie" COBB, 83, of Bellefonte, died Thursday, Dec. 5. 2002, at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte. Born April 26, 1919, in Colyer, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Mary (Kline) Stoner She was married to James Ralph Cobb. He preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1955. Two daughters and two sons survive: Barbara Gayle Brunet, Lake Worth, Fla.; Mary K. Ahlberg, Mooresville, Petersburg, R.R. 1; Gary L. Cobb, Philipsburg; and Robert Anthony Cobb, Vienna, Va. There are two grandchildren. Mrs. Cobb had been employed by Centre Engineering, State College. Private funeral services wilt be held at the convenience of the family. Jayne GIFFORD, 79, of 1014 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, formerly of Mount Union, died at 3:10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Westmister Woods, Huntingdon, where she has resided for the past two weeks. Death followed an extended illness. Born Aug. 13, 1923, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late James and Martha (Morgan) Gifford. She is survived by two sisters: Helen Barben of Mount Union and Grace App of Cincinnati, Ohio. She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Preston Gifford, Clair Gifford, Veda Hazzard, Mary Harris and Paul Gifford. Miss Gifford was a member of the Mount Union Presbyterian Church, Mount Union. Most recently, she had been employed by the American Cancer Society, Huntingdon. For many years she was a secretary for Attorney R. Merle Heffner, Huntingdon, and at one time had been employed by the former L. Greif Brothers Manufacturing Company, Mount Union. PAINTER, 92, most recently of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, and formerly of Box 1081, RD 1, Three Springs, died at 6:20 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the J.C, Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Jan. 24, 1910 in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of the late Alex S. and Esther A. (Hawk) Davidson. In 1933, she married Walter J. Painter who preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1971. Mrs. Painter is survived by the following children: Harold Painter of Cassville; Esther Bennett of Texas; Vera Bailey of Elizabethtown; Donald Painter of Mt. Joy; Edwin Painter of Victor W. Va.; Alice Morgan of Saltillo; and Betty Kay Winter of Pogue. She is also survived by a granddaughter who was raised in the home, Bonnie Kay Loope of Gaithersburg. Md. There are 25 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren who also survive. Mrs. Painter was preceded in death by a son, Richard Davidson. Also, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by seven brothers. Mrs. Painter was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and was an avid bingo player. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. Officiating will be the Rev. Charles Rhodes. Interment will be made in the Jordan Cemetery, Cromwell Township. Huntingdon County. David H. SAMS, 80, of 507 Fifteenth St., Saxton, died at 2:05 am. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, following a brief illness. Born July 16, 1922. in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harold T. and Mildred (Saunders) Sams. He was united in marriage to the former Frances G. Thomas April 10, 1946, in Philadelphia. Mrs. Sams preceded him in death Dec. 29, 1995. Seven children survive: David Sams, Philadelphia; Carol Morelli, Dudley; Dennis Sams, Harrisburg; Rosemary Zorich, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; Margaret Meers, Nobleton, Fla.; and Mildred Archdeacon and Christina Sams, both of Philadelphia. There are 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by one half brother, Richard Sams, Philadelphia. One son, Norman, and one grandson preceded him in death. Mr. Sams was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Broad Top Area Senior Citizens group, Saxton. A paint contractor in the Philadelphia area for over 30 years, he was also a maintenance supervisor at Archdioserso, Philadelphia. He retired in 1985 and moved to Saxton in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, woodcrafting and model trains. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton. Interment will he made in Philadelphia at the convenience of the family. Mary Jane ROSENBERRY, 80, a resident of Valley View Nursing Home, Altoona. for the past two years, died at 7 am. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002. at the nursing home. She was formerly a resident of HCR 83. Shade Gap. Born Oct. 1, 1922. in Allenport, Mount Union, she was a daughter of the ale George and Margaret (Lighter) Rutter. She was married to Denton R. Rosenherry Aug. 18, 1942, in Hagerstown. Md. Mr. Rosenberry resides at their home. She is survived by the following children: Denton W. Rosenberry, Amberson; Theresa A. Burkholder, Spring Run; Jane E. Cramer and Raymond R. Rosenberry, both of Shade Gap; Mary K. Rock, Dry Run, and Glenn F. Rosenberry, Fort Loudon. There are 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Four sisters and four brothers also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Roger L. Rosenberry; one grandson, Michael L. Rosenberry; one great-granddaughter, Rebekah L. Zinobile; and one brother. Mrs. Rosenberry was a member of Burnt Cabins Bible Church, Burnt Cabins. She was a housewife and mother. A memorial service will be held at 11 am. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Burnt Cabins Bible Church, with Pastor Marlin "Butch" Neil officiating. Interment will be made in the Burnt Cabins Cemetery, Burnt Cabins. Blair SHORE, 76, of 3550 Cold Springs Road, Oneida Township, Huntingdon, died at 6:28 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at his Oneida Township Home. Born Sept 18, 1926, he was a son of the late E. Blair and Elizabeth Catherine (Price) Shore. He was united in marriage to the former Joan E. Hoffman Aug. 2, 1958, at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Huntingdon, with the Revs. Theodore Steckel and Reed Rogers officiating. Mrs. Shore survives at their home. One son and one daughter survive; Kevin Charles Shore, Lewistown, and Mrs. R. Scott (Sandra Marie) Kleckner, Huntingdon. There is one grandson. One brother, Eugene T. Shore, Huntingdon, also survives. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Maxine Shore. Mr. Shore was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Huntingdon, where he had served as secretary of the board. He had served as secretary of the board of the Salvation Army, Huntingdon. He was a member of the Standing Stone Senior Citizens. A life member of the No. 1 Fire Company, Huntingdon, he was an honorary life member of the Mount Union Fire Company. Formerly, he had been a member of the Huntingdon Jaycees, Huntingdon Lions Club, the Pennsylvania Press Photographers Association and the National Press Photographers Association. A graduate of Huntingdon High School Class of 1944, he earned a bachelor of arts degree at Juniata College in 1948. Mr. Shore learned the photography business while employed at the Lewis Greene Studio in Huntingdon. He worked at The Daily News as a staff photographer for 20 years. He had also been employed for 40 years by WHUN (WLAK), Huntingdon, in sales and later joined WQHG, also in Huntingdon, retiring in 2000. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, he enjoyed photography, travel and spending time with his children and grandson. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, with the Revs. James A. Hazel Elizabeth (Powell) LEMIN, 90, of the Shirley Home for the Aged, Shirleysburg, formerly of DeForrest Apts., Huntingdon, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona. Born Nov. 14, 1912. in Charter Oak, Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late George Elmer and Attie Livada (Morrison) Powell. She was united in marriage to Solomon Lemin Aug. 13, 1930, in Mount Union. Mr. Lemin preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister and one brother; Mrs. Leo (Kathryn) Garner and John B. Powell, both of Huntingdon. One son, Leonard Ralph Lemin, preceded her in death March 29, 1984. She was also preceded in death by three brothers; David A. Powell, Samuel E. Powell and Harry A. Powell. Mrs. Lemin was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Huntingdon. She attended the Smithfield and Saxton public schools. Employed in food service, Mrs. Lemin worked for the former Ben’s Restaurant, Huntingdon. She had also been employed for a brief time by the former Gerbo Footwear, Huntingdon. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. James Stork officiating. Donna Lee CORBIN, 70, of 4745 Turnpike Road, Spruce Creek Township, died at 2:05 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona. Born Nov. 17, 1932, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Ruth (Miller) Corbin. She is survived by one brother, Richard B. Corbin, Las Vegas, Nev. Locally, she is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Miss Corbin was of the Presbyterian faith. She graduated from Petersburg Vocational High School with the Class of 1950. She graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor of science degree. She grew up in Spruce Creek. After she graduated from Penn State, she moved to Florida where she had lived and worked for a long number of years. She retired from Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Fla.. where she had been employed as head lab technician. Following her retirement, she returned to Spruce Creek where she resided with her cousin, Carl E. Miller. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles and she dearly loved animals. Graveside services will be announced at a later date. Interment will be in the Arch Springs Church Cemetery, Sinking Valley. Catherine J. HUNT, 61, formerly of Or,isonia. R.R., and more recently a resident of Evergreen Health and Rehab Center, Winchester, Va., died at 1:40 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va. Born July 12, 1941, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Wallace W. and Clara (Mundorf) Young. She was married to John H. Hunt May 27, 1961, in Winchester. Mr. Hunt preceded her in death Aug. 31, 1986. Four children survive; Debra Young and Dawna Hunt, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.; Wanema Lingenfelter, Claysburg; and John H. Hunt Jr., Three Springs, R.R. 2. There are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One brother and two sisters survive; Leroy Young, Dalton, Ga.; Betty Kreider, Lewistown: and Maxine Brunt, Hythe, South Hampton, England. Mrs. Hunt was a member of the Orbisonia Assembly of God Church. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia with the Rev. William R. Hilliard officiating. Interment will he made in Jordan Cemetery, Orbisonia, R.R. Jack S. MOSBEY, 76, of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, formerly of Robertsdale, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at JC Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born in Dudley, Jan. 20, 1926, he was a son of the late Henry J. and Emma (Neuder) Mosbey. He was united in marriage to the former Anna Mae Swope, July 10, 1947, in Baltimore. Md., by the Rev. P.S. Baringer. Mrs. Mosbey survives. Three children survive;: Mrs. Fred (Jeanette) Myers, Robertsdale; Dale Mosbey, Saxton: and Mary Lou Mosbey, Cumherland, Md. There are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two brothers survive; Henry D, Mosbey, Huntingdon, and Darryl L. Mosbey. Sutherland, Va. He was preceded in death by one son, one step-son, two brothers and an infant sister. Mr. Mosbey was a member of Robertsdale Church of God. He was a member of Saxton Sportsmen’s Association, Watson-Black American Legion Post 126, Broad Top City, and the RWBT Volunteer Fire Company. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1972 after 21 years service. He had previously been employed by Crown-Cork & Seal Co., Maryland, and the former Rockhill Coal Company. He enjoyed photography, hunting and fishing. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home, Broad Top City, with Pastor Donald Simmons officiating. Interment will be made in Broad Top IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City. Jack Benny LEAVELLE, 61, of Broad Top City, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring. Born Aug. 14, 1941, in Broad Top City, he was a son of the late Duane and Hazel (Jones) Leavelle. His mother survives in Broad Top City. His father preceded him in death. He is survived by one brother, Glenn Leavelle, Broad Top City, and one sister. Penny Smith, Dudley. His fiancee, Bonnie Watson, of Broad Top City also survives. One sister, Bonnie Musser, preceded him in death. Mr. Leavelle was of the Protestant faith. He was a lifetime member of the Broad Top Sportsmen’s Association and the Broad Top Old-timers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and local auto racing. Funeral services will be held at 10 am. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Cttrtis A. Heath Funeral Home, Broad Top City, with Pastor Glenn Jones officiating. Interment will be made in Broad Top IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City. John C. BEHRER, 77, of Spruce Creek, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at The Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. Born Oct. 12, 1925, in Spruce Creek, he was a son of the late Reuben and Mabel (Peterson) Behrer. On May 26, 1951, he married the former Bernice Rider. Mrs. Behrer survives at home. He is survived by one son and three daughters: Michael A. Behrer, Spruce Creek; Ruth Ann Corridon, Westfield. Mass.; Nancy Nagel, State College; and Susan Blum, LaGrangeville. N.Y. One sister, Jane Baney of Pennsylvania Furnace, survives. There are eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Edward Behrer, and one brother, Alfred E. Behrer. Mr. Behrer was a member and elder of the Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church, Spruce Creek. A self-employed farmer, he was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, past board member of the Farm Credit Association and was active in various farm organizations. He was a 4-H leader for 22 years. A veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Navy. He received his BS in dairy husbandry from Penn State University in 1950. Funeral services will he held at 10:30 am. Wednesday. Dec. 18, at the Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church. with the Rev. Kim MacInnes-Green officiating. Interment will he made in Graysville Cemetery, Franklin Township. Michael W. BLACK, 52, of Orbisonia, died at 4:50 am. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at JC. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Jan. 31, 1950, in Rockhill Furnace, he was a son of the late Wade R. and Mertie (Hampson) Black. He is survived by one son, Rick Willis of Saltillo and two grandsons. One brother, Larry Clark, Rockhill Furnace, survives. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Clark. Mr. Black was a member of the National Hot Rod Association. He worked most of his life as a self-employed welder. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. David Ford officiating. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, R.R. Harriet L. Tootie" MORNINGSTAR, 65, of 815 Weaver St., Saxton, died at 12:58 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, in the emergency room of UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital, Bedford. Her death was unexpected. Born May 30, 1937, in Dudley she was a daughter of the late Edward and Amanda (Black) Fessler. She was united in marriage to Kenneth R. Morningstar June 4, 1954, at the home of Pastor Dan Brumbaugh, Marysville. Mr. Morningstar survives at home. Three children survive; Scott D. Morningstar, Hopewell, R.R. 2; Gretchen H. Morningstar, Saxton; and Mrs. Stanley (Lisa) Curfman, Milroy. There are five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. LOCKE, 81, formerly of Shade Gap and more recently of Carlisle, died at 7:56 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Carlisle Hospital, Carlisle. Born Sept. 14, 1921, in Shade Gap, he was a son of the late William M. and Orpha (Piper) Locke. He was married to the former LaRue Berrier Jan. 23, 1943, in Downingtown. Mrs. Locke survives at their home. One son and two daughters survive; Jerre D. Locke, Boiling Springs; Mrs. John (Lucy) Getz, Shiremanstown and Mrs. Kenneth (Rita) Scott, Orbisonia. There are seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Two sisters and two brothers survive; Verna Briggs, Caledonia Manor, Fayetteville; Violet Miller and Ralph Locke, both of Chambersburg; and William "Jack" Locke, Shade Gap. Several nieces, nephews. grand-nieces and grandnephews also survive. Mr. Locke was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Shade Gap, where he taught a Sunday School class for 35 years. He was also a member of the Mt. Holly United Methodist Church. He belonged to the Mt. Holly Golden Agers and the Senior Citizens of Shade Gap. He was also a member of Madden-Wennick Post 518 American Legion, Rockhill Furnace, and Blue Juniata Post 5754, Mount Union. Strong in his faith, he was a charter member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship of Huntingdon County. A graduate of Orbisonia High School Class of 1939, he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He and his wife owned and operated the Shade Gap General Merchandise Store for 20 years and operated the U.S. Post Office at Shade Gap for 30 years. From the time of their retirement until 1995, they wintered in Haines City, Fla. Some of his hobbies were hunting, fishing, horseback riding and coaching Little League. CUTSHALL Jr 17, of Rockhill Furnace, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 13, 1985, in Huntingdon, he is survived by his father and stepmother, John H. Sr. and Colleen Cutshall and his mother and stepfather, Linda (Brown) and Joseph Gearhart, all of Rockhill Furnace. He had resided with his mother and stepfather. Two brothers survive; Terry Cutshall and Brendon Gearhart, both of Rockhill Furnace. He is also survived by two stepsisters and one stepbrother; Amy Morder, Huntingdon; Shani Klegg, Newport; and Jason Yetter, Chambersburg. COWAN, 93, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing Home, Chambersburg, formerly of Fannettsburg, died at 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002. at the nursing home. Born Aug. 14, 1909. in Metal Township, Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Orbison C. and Margaret Jane (Heath) Gordon. She was married to John D. Cowan, who preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1980. One son and one daughter survive; Wesley Gene Cowan, Fannettsburg; and Patricia C. Heckman, Chambersburg. Interment will he made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, R.R. Marcia (Sweet) COAMBS, 92, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2002, at her home in Nipomo, Calif. She was horn July 31, 1910, in Saxton, the daughter of James Herbert and Cora (Eichelberger) Sweet, She began a long life in show business at the age of 8 when her parents were asked if she could make a state tour, as a dancer, with Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians. At 18,she went to New York and appeared in several major Broadway musicals. She met her future husband, Perc Launders, a musician and comedian, who was also appearing in a musical, when their dressing rooms were located across the alley from each other. After they were married, they were both called to Hollywood where Marcia began a long career at Twentieth Century Fox, joining Sonja Henie on all her tours and in her movies. She also appeared with Betty Grable in all of her musicals as a dancer. She had a storybook childhood in Huntingdon and a great life in Studio City, Calif. Ms. Coambs was a widow three times. She is survived by her daughter, Patti Launders, also of Nipoma. Her cremains were placed with those of Perc Launders at Forest Lawn, Glendale, Calif Margaret A. STRAUSER, 86, of Con:cordia Haven Cabot, formerly of Cold Springs Road, Huntingdon, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002. at Lund Care Center at Concordia Home, Cabot. Her death was due to Parkinson’s ‘disease. Born July 4, 1916, in Cabot, she was a daughter of the late William and Lydia (Paul) Koegler. She was united in marriage to Lloyd W. Strauser April 16, 1950. Mr. Strauser survives at Concordia Haven. She is also survived by one brother and three sisters; Paul Koe.gler, Columbus, Ohio; Esther Succop and Nellie Koegler, both of Cabot; and Helen Borneman, Florida. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister; Robert Koegler and Ruth Brewer. Mrs. Strauser was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cabot, and a former member of St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. She was a life member of the Allegheny General Hospital Nursing Alumni. HARTZLER, 51, of 4937 Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, while hunting in Brady Township, Huntingdon County. Born Sept. 21, 1951, in Lewistown, he was a son of Paul C. and Kathryn E. (Yoder) Hartzler. His mother survives in Belleville. His father preceded him in death in 1974. He was united in marriage to the former Kim McCardle Dec. 11, 1987. Mrs. Hartzler survives at their home. One son, Travis Glenn Hartzler, survives at home. Two nephews, who are also his godsons, survive; Charles Peyton Mullin, Huntingdon, and Joseph Read Mullin, Hanover. Mr. Read was an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, State College. During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Army. He attended Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Va. and graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. He received his master‘s degree from the The Pennsylvania State University. A teacher in the Mount Union Area and State College school districts, he became a guidance counselor in 1951 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Black was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Union. Prior to his decline in health, he was an active member of the American Legion. Carl Kenton "Kent" MARKLEY of Arroyo Grande, Calif., died at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, in the Cottage Hospital of Santa Barbara, Calif., following an extended illness. Born Jan. 16, 1939, he was the son of Larry and Hazel Markley of Saxton. His parents are deceased. Surviving is his sister, Mrs. Steven (Carol) Holloway of Saxton. (Werner) McMath, 94, formerly of Germany and Shade Valleys, died at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at the William Penn Nursing Center, Lewistown, where she had been a patient for the past few days. She had been residing at the home of her daughter, Kathy Donaldson, Lewistown, since having a heart attack in 1998. Born Sept. 8, 1908, in Derry, Westmoreland County, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Clara (Hagie) Werner. She married Samuel J McMath of Shade Valley April 3, 1929, beginning a 63-year union. Mr. McMath preceded her in death Nov. 8,1992. In her early years as a wife and homemaker, she belonged to the Huntingdon County Homemakers and the Huntingdon County Farm Women. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family members on bus trips. Mr. and Mrs. McMath also took several trips west, visiting relatives in Iowa, going on to California and returning through the southern states. Before her eyesight recently failed, she loved to read and crochet, especially making afghans for her family. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 am. Interment will be made in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Shade Gap. Plantena R. "Teany" BLACK, 81, of Morrisons Cove Home, formerly of HCR Robertsdale, died at 2:12 am.. Friday. Dec. 27, 2002, at the home. Born Friday, Oct. 28. 1921 in Cooks, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Reba (Leader) Chilcote. She was the widow of James Robert Black. She is survived by a granddaughter, Christie Black of State College, and a daughter-in-law, Edna "Tweets" Black of Irwin. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James M. Black. Mrs. Black was a member of Robertsdale Church of God. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross while living in the Pittsburgh area. Mrs. Black was a foster parent to many children and she enjoyed caring for others. She worked as a nursery school teacher at Greenfield Church of God. During her life she enjoyed being involved with her church activities and crafting. MILLER Sr., 60, of 9 Baker St., Andover, N.Y., died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Dawsonville, Ga., following a long illness. Born Oct. 25, 1942, in Mount Union, he was the son of Elmer F. and Gladys (Miller) Miller. He was united in marriage to the former Nancy M. DeRemer, Dec. 5, 1964. Mrs. Miller survives. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Greg (Melanie) Smith, Dawsonville, Ga., and Mrs. Kevin (Annette) Perry, Andover, N.Y.; and three sons, Michael DeRemer, Richmond, Va.; and Douglas Miller Jr. and Eric Miller, both of Andover. There are 12 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. One sister, Shirley A. Horne, preceded him in death. Mr. Miller had resided most of his life in Andover, where he was a member of Lynch Burgett Post No. 397, American Legion; Andover Fire Department and the Andover Rescue Squad. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Dehaven during the Vietnam conflict. He retired as a parts manager May 1, 2002. from Dresser Rand Corp., Wellsville, N.Y., with 36 years service. Born July 29, 1916, in Saxton, she was a daughter or the late Daniel M. and Edna (Horton) Stoler. She married Donald K. Fuss in December 1938 in Harrisburg. CARL, 94, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, formerly of 9216 Gap Road, Waynesboro, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 24, 2002, at the home. Born Nov. 8, 1908, in Shade Gap, he was a son of the late Jacob James and Anna (Geiger) Carl. He married the former Mary E. Bare in 1937. Mrs. Carl preceded him in death Oct. 23, 1991. Two sons and one daughter survive; James Franklin Carl, Waynesboro; Paul D. Carl, Greencastle; and Mrs. Michael (Beverly June) Voron, Waynesboro. One sister, Mary Brown of McVeytown, also survives. There are 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Robert Carl; three brothers, one sister, and a half sister Mr. Carl was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, where he had held many committee positions. Ivan Lorraine MILLER, 87, of A220 Valley View Terrace, BeIleville, formerly of 2507 Shadyside Ave., Huntingdon, died at 12:15 am. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at Valley View Haven. Born Jan. 8, 1915, at Petersburg, R.R. 1, he was a son of the late Jacob and Margaret (Rupe) Miller. He was united in marriage to the former Thelma V. Coffman, Sept. 20, 1934, at the bride’s home, 1622 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, by the Rev. Foster B. Statler Mrs. Miller survives at their home. He is also survived by one sister, Gretta Miller of Belleville. Two brothers, Alvin and James, and two sisters, Esther Goss and Evalyn Stoudt, preceded him in death. The Rev. Miller was a member of Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. A 1934 graduate of Petersburg High School, he was also a 1937 graduate of Juniata College, Huntingdon. He received his master of divinity from Garrett Biblical Institute (Case Northwestern University), Evanston, Ill., in 1944 and continued his education at Penn State University. In his early ministry, he served the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the Methodist Church, with parish appointments in Glen Hope, Penns Valley and Pleasant Gap. He then was transferred to the Pacific Northwest Conference from 1944 to 1947 before returning to the Central Pennsylvania Conference to serve in Lock Haven and Montgomery. In 1953, the Rev. Miller became a chaplain in the United States Navy. During his military career he attained the rank of lieutenant commander of the chaplains corps. He served in several United States appointments, as well as in Greece and Japan. After his retirement from active military service, he returned to the Central Pennsylvania Conference with an appointment to Harrisburg Riverside Church. He later became the assistant administrator of Methodist Homes for the Aged, Bethany Village. In 1970, the Rev, Miller was appointed administrator of Methodist Home for the Aged, Epworth Manor, Tyrone. He retired from full-time service in 1977. He enjoyed reading and working with wood and leather. Fond of his farm property in rural Huntingdon County, he hunted on the property and spent time working on the old log house. Born March 29, 1915, in Robertsdale, he was a son of the late Donato and Antonina (Battistone) Zinobile. He and his wife, the former Vera B. Blass, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary March 28, 2002. He was preceded in death by a son, David William, in 1943, and a brother, Raymond. Mr. Zenoble was a member of Seventh Street, United Methodist Church, Renovo. He retired as a wholesale distributor from Pepperidge Farms, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1972. Following his retirement, he was a sign painter in the Renovo area. He was known for his slide-show presentations of Renovo and the railroad era. He was an avid gardener. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Born June 30, 1912, in Three Springs, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Lillie (Brown) Miller. She was married to W. Guy Greenland who preceded her in death June 10, 1966. She is survived by four daughters and two sons; Mrs. Car! (Ann) Sunderland, Newton Hamilton; Mrs. Robert (Jane) Mills, Huntingdon; Mrs. Eugene (Nancy) Cornelius, Saltillo; Mrs. Thomas (Joy) Parr, Leesburg, Va.; W. John Greenland, Towanda; and Gail L. Greenland, Mapleton, R.R. There are 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Ruth Hamilton, survives at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born Nov. 28, 1943, in Allensville, he was the son of Goldie (Harshbarger) Hazlett of Allensville, and the late Herbert F. Hazlett. He was united in marriage to the former Carol J. Everetts July 6, 1970. Mrs. Hazlett survives at their Belleville home. One son, Kevin G. Hazlett, Allensville, survives. He is also survived by three stepchildren; Mrs. Edsel (Vicki) Hamman, Three Springs; Kathy Carolus, Belleville; and Duane McKinney, Mill Creek. There are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He had worked for 39 years at CNH-New Holland, Belleville, where he was the senior employee. He loved horses and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the family camp. "Bill" ROSENBERRY, 55, of R. R. 1, Box 213 E., Hesston, died unexpectedly at home Friday, Dec. 27, 2002. Born Oct. 12, 1947, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Kay (Cunningham) Rosenberry of Mount Union and the late William B. Rosenberry. He is survived by one daughter, Amber D. Rosenberry of Erie and several grandchildren. One sister, Kay A. Coffman of Altoona, survives. He is also survived by a companion, Jeanne Berkheimer of Hollidaysburg. He was a former member of the Bassmasters Association. A 1965 graduate of Mount Union Area High School, he served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam with the Army Security Agency. For the last seven years, he has been employed at Sheehan Motors, Huntingdon, where he currently was general manager. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. At one time, he had enjoyed riding motocross. She was the wife of the late Merle L. Lynn, who preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by one son, Richard J. Lynn of York. Born Feb. 11. 1919, in Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Simm A. and Flora (McCall) Gump. He married the former A. Louise Smith Feb. 10, 1951. in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Gump survives. Three daughters survive; Mrs. William (Darlis) Schaeffer, Chambersburg; Vicki Petrunyak, Everett; and Mrs. Rob (Sherri) England, Everett. There are four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by four sisters; Mildred Norris, McVeytown; Mrs. Harold (Hazel) Witherite, Huntingdon; Betty Jane Freed, Hesston; and Mrs. Jesse (Barbara) Shriner, Alexandria. Mr. Gump was a member of James Creek Church of the Brethren, Marklesburg, and attended Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Breezewood. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, Company B, 49th Engineer Combat Battalion and sewed in the battles of Normandy, Rhineland, Northern France and Ardennes. He received the following medals; Good Conduct, American Defense Service and European African Middle Eastern Service with four bronze service stars. Robert E MATTERN, 81, of Vero Beach, Fla., died unexpectedly Tuesday. Dec. 3, 2002, in Florence, S.C. Born Nov. 20, 1921, in Mapleton, he was the son of John Franklin and Lizzie May (Fiss) Mattern. He was married to the former Eleanor Mary Steffy Oct. 10, 1942. Mrs. Mattern survives. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia M. Hursen of Pittsburgh, and Barbara M. Babb of Middlesex, NJ. One brother, Donald F. Mattern of Wyomissing, also survives. There are three grandchildren. Mr. Mattern was a member of the Community Church of Vero Beach, He was a member of the Lutheran Laity Movement for Stewardship, Reserve Officers Association, Knapp Lodge F&AM of Berwick, Jaffa Temple of Altoona, Rotary Club, Service Corps of Retired Executives, Silver Falcon Association of the U.S. Air Force Academy and The Retired Officers Association. While residing in Hollidaysburg, he founded and became president of the Appalachian Thruway Association, and served as president of the Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce, director of the Pennsylvania Development Credit Corporation, trustee of Mercy Hospital, trustee of Blair County Historical Society and trustee of The Altoona Foundation. Mr. Mattern graduated from Penn State University, State College, in 1942, with a BA in business administration. A veteran of World War II, he retired as colonel from the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 1972. He was relieved from active duty in 1946 as a major, and accepted commission in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He served as liaison officer coordinator for the Air Force Academy, and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. He held the positions of chairman, president and chief executive officer of Mellon Bank Central. State College, from 1984 until his retirement in 1986, concluding a distinguished 40-year career in banking. He began as assistant cashier, First National Bank, Mount Union, in 1946. In 1947, he became assistant cashier of the Berwick National Bank, Berwick, advancing to cashier and chief executive officer from 1955 to 1960. In 1960, Mr. Mattern became comptroller of the First National Bank, Altoona, advancing to vice president in 1961, director in 1968, senior vice president in 1972, and vice chairman in 1973, prior to its merger with Central Counties Bank in 1975. He served as vice chairman and director of Central Counties Bank, State College, which became a subsidiary of Mellon Hank Corporation in 1983. He moved to Vero Beach 10 years ago from Hollidaysburg. A son of the late Scott A. and Carrie F. (Fornwalt) Isenberg, he was born Nov. 3, 1924, in Catharine Township, Blair County. He was united in marriage to the former Mary C. Shaffer, Sept. 19, 1972. Mr. Isenberg was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. He was a member of Bonner-Sollenberger American Legion Post No. 456, Williamsburg; and William P. Spyker American Legion Post No. 520, Alexandria. He graduated from Williamsburg High School with the Class of 1943. During World War II, he served with the United States Marine Corps as an air traffic controller and held the rank of corporal. Before becoming a. dairy farmer, he had worked for 10 years at Penelec. He then farmed full-time for 32 years, retiring in 1985. For the past 14 years, he had worked part-time for Edward Quigley at the Luzerne Farms in Warriors Mark. He was a lifetime resident of Blair County and his Catharine Township home since 1985. He enjoyed spending time with his family and dearly loved being at home with his children and grandchildren. He was especially fond of his two Chihuahua dogs. Angel and Tico. Mr. Isenberg enjoyed NASCAR and football. His favorite footbal1 player was Doug Flutie. SAUPP, 84, of 105 William Smith St., Huntingdon, died at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at her residence, following an extended illness. She had lived at her William Smith Street address since 1948. Born June 3, 1918, in Albany, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late James E. and Flores (Monks) Skinner. She was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Saupp May 24, 194l, in the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. Dr. John Thompson Peters. Mr. Saupp preceded her in death June 8,1994. One son and one daughter survive; Kenneth W. Saupp Jr., Lancaster; and Jackie Elaine (Saupp) Talcik, Syracuse, N.Y. There are two grandchildren. Three sisters survive; Dorothy McLean, Longboat Key, Fla.; Eleanor Simpson, Orlando, Fla.; and Flo Nowicki, Wayne. One brother, James Skinner, and one sister, Jean Shingler, preceded her in death. Mrs. Saupp was a member of the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church for over 65 years. She was a member of the Auxiliary to Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion, Huntingdon. She had volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Huntingdon and assisted with voter registration at the Huntingdon County Courthouse. A graduate of Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1935, she helped organize class reunions for over 60 years and was credited with others for starting the concept of multi-class reunions. She had been a secretary for the J.C. Blair Company, Wald-Prismo Industries and Bill Entriken Insurance Company, all located in Huntingdon. Following her retirement, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Saupp was credited as the first woman pilot to solo and own her own airplane in Huntingdon. Over her lifetime, she donated 32 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. For many years, she provided televisions to hospital rooms at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She enjoyed playing cards, plastic canvas work, knitting and visiting her family. She had resided in Manatee County, Fla., since 1994. Born Aug. 22, 1944. in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of William Earl and Freda (Lee) Hetrick. She was united in marriage to Robert B. Born Dec. 5,1939, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of Lester and Minnie (Weaver) Hamman. He was twice married; First to Lynette Kay Walters Hamman; later to Marsha Marks at the First Baptist Church, Three Springs. Mr. Haminan is survived by his parents, Lester and Minnie Hamman of Rockhill Furnace: his wife, at home; three sons: Dale and Tim Hamman of Rockhill Furnace, and Bill Hamman of Orblsonia; a step-son, James Cowan of Three Springs; a step-daughter, Carol Louise Cowan of Lewistown; and three grandchildren. Two sisters, Sharon Loudenslager of Lewistown, and Genafe Heath of Mount Union, survive. Mr. Hamman was a member of the Orbisonia Church of the Nazarene, Orbisonia. In his earlier years, Mr. Hamman was a self-employed businessman, having owned and operated Hamman’s Electric, Orbisonia, and, along with his wife, owned and operated the Rockhill Family Restaurant, Rockhill Furnace, for tight years. Born Nov. 17, 1953, in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late George Reed and the late Betty (Palmer) McClellan. She was married to Rick E. Varner, who survives at their home. Weller Myers of Annville. A sister, Ethel Sager of State College, and a brother, Frederick Weller of Philipsburg, survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles. Mr. Weller was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Howard Gardner American Legion, Tyrone; Bavarian Aid Society, Altoona; the Port Matilda VFW; and was a life member of the Tyrone Elks No. 212 and the Port Matilda Fire Company. Mr. Weller was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as a sergeant in Company M, 114th Infantry, 44th Division in Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired in 1982 from OW. Houts, State College, as a meat cutter. He was previously employed by the Penn State Food Service as a meat cutter for eight years. He and his wife had been the proprietors of the former Clover Farm Store in Port Matilda for five years and the State House Restaurant, Port Matilda. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Raymond William MILLER, 93, of 3199 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, N.C., died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in an Asheville hospital. A native of Mount Union, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude Miller. He is survived by his wife, Madaline Locke Miller; two daughters, Judie Burrell of Asheville, N.V., and Peggy Harrison of Fairview, N.C. There are four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Miller was a member of the Coral Gables Congregational Church, Coral Gables., Fla. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons. A former resident of Coral Gables, Fla., he was a retired elementary school principal in Miami-Dade County, Fla. Lucille RUSSELL, 71, of 1166 Westgate Drive, Chambersburg, died at 11:16 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg. Born in Huntingdon Aug. 15, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edith F. Newingham. She was united in marriage to Chester L. Russell Jan. 18, 1950, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Russell preceded her in death June 24, 1977. She is survived by two daughters and two sons: Linda L. Shetter and Dawn E. Kauffman, both of Chambersburg; and Gregg A. Russell and David L. Russell, both of Shippensburg. There are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend, Alvin Kennedy of Waynesboro. Mrs. Russell was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Fayetteville. She was a member of the Chaplains Advisory Board of the Chambersburg Hospital; the AARP, Falling Spring Chapter No. 2840; the Ladies Auxiliary of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW; the Women of the Moose, Chapter No. 1128; and the Whirleybird Square Dance Club, all in Chambersburg; and the Auto Racing Club, Hagerstown, Md. She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School. Employed in the admitting office of Chambersburg Hospital for over 30 years, she retired in 1988. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following a brief illness. Born Sept. 3, 1917, in Shade Gap, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Hanna (McElwee) Horn. She married William S. Norris Sept. 15, 1933, in Ashville. Mr. Norris preceded her in death Nov. 23, 1989. Two daughters and one son survive: Wanda J. Beatty, Aliquippa; Barbara J. Hobbs, Kistler, and William S. Norris Jr., Allenport, Mount Union. There are seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Phyllis Spangler of Newark, Del., and Connie Ressler of Orbisonia. She was preceded in death by one grandson; two brothers, Frank Horn and Robert Horn, and a sister, Betty Taylor. Mrs. Norris was of the Methodist Faith. She was a homemaker. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. William N. HESSER, 58, of Short Loop Road, Lewistown, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at his home. Born July 2, 1944, in Bratton Twp., he was a son of the late Edward E. Sr. and Zana (Rittenhouse) Hesser. His wife, Vesta "Fib"(Sunderland) Hesser, whom he married Sept. 18, 1967, survives. Also surviving are one son, Barry L. Hesser, McVeytown; and one daughter, Wendy Jo Hesser, Milroy. Four sisters and two brothers survive: J. Maxine Pecht, Carol A. Hesser, Sandra L. Hesser and Susan J. Boozel, all of McVeytown; Edward E. Hesser Jr., Mount Union; and Randall L. Hesser, McVeytown. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Richard Hesser. Mr. Hesser was a member of the Moose Family Center No. 143, Lewistown; and the Sand Flat Hunting Camp, Licking Creek. He was employed at J.M. Young and Sons Inc., Belleville, for 38 years. An avid hunter, golfer and race fan, he also enjoyed bowling in the Brotherhood League at the Moose Lodge. Interment will be made in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Kaiwan MONTGOMERY, 26, of Pittsburgh, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, while visiting relatives in Mount Union. Mr. Montgomery suffered with heart problems since a youngster and recently had a heart transplant. Born in Mount Union Feb.11, 1976, he was the son of Earline Fortson of Pittsburgh and Glenn Montgomery of Shippensburg. He is also survived by his wife, Jennifer, and six children, all of Pittsburgh. He was the grandson of the late Izona Mitchell of Mount Union. Other survivors are a brother, Lavar Montgomery of Pittsburgh, and two sisters, Izona Punch of Pittsburgh and Taska Taylor of Mount Union. He has many aunts, uncles and cousins in his hometown of Mount Union. He was preceded in death by a close cousin, Maurice "Reese" Fortson of Mount Union in 1998. He was reared in Pittsburgh. Robert "Skinny" KING, 60, of R.R. 2, Box 135, Huntingdon (McAlevys Fort), died at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at Centre Community Hospital. State College. Born Sept. 4, 1942, in Allensville, he was a son of the late Irvin J. and Edna (Hartzler) King. He was united in marriage to the former Brenda Knode Nov. 27, 1963. Mrs. King survives at home. He is survived by one daughter and one son; Angela J. (King) Hawn, Petersburg; and Matthew R. King, Jackson’s Corner. There is one grandson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The last of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annabelle L. Yoder and three brothers. Mr. King was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, McAlevys Fort. He was a member of State College Masonic Lodge No. 700; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Pleasant Gap; Jaffa Shrine, Altoona; and an honorary life member of Stone Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Co., No. 19. Born Jan. 17, 1922, in Hopewell, she was a daughter of the late Fred Harrison and Charlette Grace (Ramsey) Dick. She was united in marriage to Fred Elliot Showalter Oct. 9,1940, in Hopewell. Mr Showalter preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1963. She is survived by five children; Mrs. James (Donna J.) Neilson, Alexandria; Mrs. Ernie (Mary L.) Peters, Mount Joy; Robert F. Showalter, Allison Park; Susan I. Showalter, Alexandria; and Mrs. Raymond (Pamela K.) Tononi, Huntingdon. There are eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers; Fred Dick, Barree; and George Dick, Petersburg. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cheryl Neilson Grainey April 17, 1997; a great- grandson, Troy Booher Jr., in 1986; three sisters, Hilda Boyer, Lorraine Russell and Kathleen Lane; and three brothers, Ernest, Gilbert and Chalmer Dick. Mrs. Showalter was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Huntingdon, R.R. 4. She was primarily a homemaker. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, she moved to Alexandria from Spruce Creek in 1958 and had resided at her Canal Street home since September 1990. Interment will be private. Mabel V. LYNN, 92, formerly of 720 N. Plum St., Lancaster, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Manor Care Kingston Court, 2400 Kingston Court, York. Born in Marklesburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles N. and Elma (Feagley) Crum. She was the wife of the late Merle L. Lynn, who preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by one son, Richard J. Lynn of York. There are five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters: Irene Butler and Grace Gauntlett; one sister, Hazel Crum; one brother, Warren Crum; and two grandsons. Mrs. Lynn was of the Lutheran faith. Born Jan. 20, 1927, in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen (Samuels) Redline, She was united in marriage to James F. Andrews Oct. 19, 1946, in Altoona. Mr. Andrews preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1984. She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Michael D. Andrews, Niceville, Fla.; Mark F. Andrews, Jacksonville, Fla; Kathleen A. Davis, Altoona; and Jendi L. Lindsay, Central, S.C. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother: Norma (Redline) Gorsuch, Cape Coral, Fla.; Judith (Redline) Coopey, Mesa, Ariz.; and Harry H. Redline, Huntingdon. Mrs. Andrews attended Asbury United Methodist Church, Juniata, Altoona. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and served as Blair County Blood Director during the 1960s. A 1944 graduate of Altoona High School, she was employed as a secretary for the Carlisle Navy Depot. She retired as a secretary from the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona.
