Christopher Deihl died Friday morning, August 23, at his home on the farm about one and three fourth miles from Petersburg in Logan township. Mr. Deihl was a sufferer from cancer, and although he had several times been under treatment and had an arm amputated, nothing could stay the disease. He was born in Saxony, the son of Eronomous and Katherine (Harvey) Deihl, on the 1st of January, 1841, hence was well along in the 78th year of his age. With his parents he came to this country in 1843. In October 1867 he married Barbara Geisler. To this union two children were born, both of whom are deceased. Mrs. Barbara Deihl died in 1877. Mr. Deihl again married, on June 12, 1878, Sophia N. Gross. He is survived by his second wife, and by the following children: George B. Deihl, of Petersburg; Mrs. Alice G. Smith, of Neffs Mills; Mrs. Abbie B. Dean, of New Jersey; Miss Ella M., at home; Mrs. Florence E. McCombs, of Harrisburg; Mrs. Katherine E. Greene, of Tipton; Margaret at home; Olive N., of Harrisburg, and Savanna S., at home. Two children by the marriage died while young. The funeral was held on Sunday forenoon, with services at the house conducted by Rev. A. F. Richardson, followed by interment in Petersburg cemetery.
