Duncan Betty Isabelle Kough Duncan, 1, of Main Street, Saltillo, died at 1:33 p.m., Sunday, April 6, surrounded by her loving family at Woodland Retirement Community, Orbisonia. Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 10, at the First Baptist Church, Saltillo, with Rev. David Oldham and Rev. David Ford officiating. Interment was made in Saltillo Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. She was born on August 30, 1926 in Clay Township, Huntingdon County, and she was the daughter of the late Earl D. and Hilda L. (Black) Newman. She was married to Ned D. Kough on June 25, 1942. Mr. Kough preceded her in death on May 22, 1980. She later married Harold Duncan on July 20, 1985. He died on June 22, 1988. Mrs. Duncan is survived by three daughters: Patricia Ciarrocca and husband, Angelo S. of Huntingdon; Connie Kough Pittenger and husband, Robert, Saltillo; Terri Kough Cornelius and husband, Len of Saltillo and one son, Gregory N. Kough and wife, Alicia, Huntingdon. There are 12 grandchildren: Matthew K. Ciarrocca; Katharine Ciarrocca DeRossi; Betsy R. Quigley; Susan D. Rohrbaugh; Erin Kough; Ryan Kough; Lindsey Kough; Ned. D. Kough; Isabelle Kough; Laura Slusher; Paul Cornelius and Megan Cornelius. Eight great grandchildren also survive and two brothers, Wallace R. Newman and Larry E. Newman survive of Chambersburg. Two brothers, Donald E. Newman and Douglas F. Newman and an infant brother, James Newman are deceased. Mrs. Duncan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Saltillo, where she belonged to the Helping Hand Society. She was a member of the Friends of the Southern Huntingdon County Library, Southern Huntingdon County BPW, Order of the Eastern Star Lodge # 280, Mount Union and The Marry and Join Us Club. Mrs. Duncan was primarily a homemaker, which she thoroughly enjoyed over the course of her life. She created a wonderful home environment for her family in a traditional way. She was a great cook and an excellent pie baker. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and in her prime she loved walking and working in the garden at "the farm." She enjoyed traveling and was fortunate to have traveled extensively. Of all things that were important to Betty, the two most important were her love of God and love of family.
