Semi-Weekly News, Vol. 42, 4 Nov. 1918
Samuel Dysard, an aged veteran of the Civil War, died this Monday morning at 
8:30 o'clock at the home of his son, George Dysard, in Henderson township. Mr. 
Dysard had been ill for the past four weeks and was taken to Blair Memorial 
Hospital, being afflicted with rupture and kidney trouble. He was a native of 
Germany and came to this country with his parents when he was five years old. 
He was well-known and highly respected. For many years he conducted a farm in 
Henderson township. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. He had 
passed his seventy-sixth birthday some time ago. He is survived by the 
following sons and daughters - Milton of Ardenheim, George of Henderson 
township, William of Harrisburg, Keturah, wife of Blair Brininger of 
Petersburg, Mattie, wife of Clarence Warfel of Altoona, Edward of Henderson 
township, Lizzie, married and living in Altoona, Laura, wife of Jesse Kidd of 
Wilmerding, Ella, wife of Isaac Hawn of Huntingdon, Effie, wife of Walter 
Herncane of Huntingdon. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10 
o'clock from the residence of his son, George Dysard in Henderson township, 
conducted by Rev. E.N. Fry of Mill Creek. Interment in Union Church.

Additional Comments:
According to his Civil War Pension Record, Samuel was raised by George 
Numer "from the age of 5-6 until he was a young man and went to war." He 
married Mary Jane Black 27 Sept 1866 in Henderson Township, Huntingdon County, 
PA. Mary Jane died 21 April 1914. Samuel and Mary Jane were my third great 
grandparents.
