He preceded her in death March 6, 1989. Surviving are five daughters and a son: Mrs. Joseph L. (Roxie Darlene) Miller Sr., Petersburg; Mrs. Robert (Judith Ann) Benson, Hunt- ingburg, Ind.; Mrs. Harold (Agnes M.) Keller and Mrs. Roger (Dorcas Marie) Herrnan, both of Petersburg; and Cloyd L. Barr, Alexandria. There are 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters: Donald Everhart, Huntingdon; Robert W. Charles F. Bierbach, 86, formerly of Erie, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. Born May 23, 1913, in Erie, he was the son of the late Charles Benjamin and Wilhelmina (Runser) Bierbach. He married Marian J. Zeigler, who preceded him in death May 13, 1985. One son, Attorney Charles A. Bierbach of Huntingdon survives. One grandson and two great-grand- children also survive. A graduate of the former Academy High School Class of 1930, he served in the U.S. Army during World War 11, receiving the rank of captain. He was employed as a CLU for the Mutual of New York Insurance Co. Mr. Bierbach was an active member of the Luther Memorial Church. Sweatiock, 76, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., died Feb. 1, 2000. She had been a residtnt of Lehigh Acres since 1985. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Sweatlock, a former Mount Union resident. Also surviving are two sons: John Sweatlock of Naples, Fla.; and Joseph Sweatlock of Jupiter, Fla. There are four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. . One son, Wally, preceded her in death. Mrs. Sweatiock graduated from the Allentown Hospital of Nursing in 1944 and Jersey City State University in 1965, earning a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She was dedicated to her profession as a school nurse in Upper Saddle River, N.J.; Oak Crest Absegami High School in Mays Landing, N.J.and she retired while at Egg Harbor Regional in Egg Harbor, N.J. She was a very active member of the Faith Lutheran Church where she was the administrator of the Learning Village School. Mrs. Sweatiock was also a member of the Lehigh Acres Kiwanis Club and the Wednesday Morning Bowling League. A memorial service was held Feb. 5 in the Faith Lutheran Church in Lehigh Acres. Helen Zdorsky, 71, of 1305 Norris St., Saxton, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at 9.45 p.m., at her home. She died following an extended illness. Bom July. 26, 1928, in Dudley, she was the daughter of the late William and Lena (Carberry) Putt. She married Paul Zdorsky Sept. 3, 1957, in Stonerstown. He preceded her in death June 18, 1987. One daughter, Gloria Zdorsky, survives at home, along with one granddaughter. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Zdorsky was a member of the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren and the Saxton Volunteer Fire Company, Ladies'Auxiliary. Born in Swissvale, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Clarissa (Watson) Richards. Her first husband, Arthur P.W. Scott, and her second husband, Carlton R. "Cap" Johnston, both preceded her in death. She is survived by four daughters: Sara S. Williams, Unionville; Hagar L. Scott, Lititz; Margaret S. Flanagan, Exton; and Katherine S. Hilton, Gap. Bom April 23, 1918, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Clair and Jesse (Price) Flasher. He married Nellie Harris November 1937. She survives. Also surviving are three children: Mrs. Vince (Margaret Anne) Mortimer, Cincinnati, Ohio; William C. Flasher, Camp Hill; and Etalena F. "Eanie" Bard, Camp Hill. There are five grandchildren and two step- grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Edna Park, Mrs. Richard (Althea) Forsythe, Betty Walker, Mrs. Frank (Jesse) Pollicino; Clair Flasher Jr. and Guy Flasher, all of Mount Union. Four siblings preceded him in death: Helen Flasher, Elizabeth Reuse, Russell Flasher and Allen Flasher. Mr. Flasher was of the Protestant faith. He retired Oct. 31, 1978, from the former Penelec, now GPU Energy, after 30 years of service. A Navy veteran of World War 11, he was a member of the American Legion Post No. 110, and VFW No. 5754, both of Mount Union. He loved golf and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Loretta Angela (Leavelle) Golden, 84, formerly of the Broad Top area, died Feb. 17, 2000, at the Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, Del. Bom March 22, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Vineant D. and Grace May (Shope) Leavelle. She married Chester J. Golden, who preceded her in death July 8, 1959. Surviving are two sons and two daughters: James R. Golden, Middletown; Martin V. Golden, Wilmington, Del.; Shirley 1. (Golden) Yeatman of Wilmington, Del.; and Mrs. Ronald E. (Renna M.) Born Nov. 26, 1931, in Mifflin, she was the daughter of the late Foster G. and, Anna Houtz. Surviving are her husband, William C. "Tom" McNeal at home, four sons and a daughter: Michael S. McNeal, Alabaster, Ala.; D. Edward McNeal, Huntingdon; Thomas L. McNeal, Louisville, Ky.; and William G. McNeal, Douglasville, Ga.; and Debra M. Brown, also of Douglasville, Ga. There are four grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Donald Houtz of Chambersburg, and a sister, Doris H. Gual, Lemoyne. Mrs. McNeal was a homemaker and was of the Presbyterian faith. Rev. W. Russell Hood Jr. of Chelmsford, Mass., died Feb. 20, 2000, at the Genesis West- ford House. He married Dorothy A. Shedd with whom he would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary Aug. 4, 2000. Born in Hesston, on Aug. 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Whitmer R. and Lena (Briggs) Hood. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Carolyn D. Webster of Lawrence, Mass., and a son, David R. Hood of Dracut, Mass. There is one granddaughter. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Ronald (Janet) Clites, and three brothers: William Hood, Robert Hood and Frank Hood, all of McConnellstown. A sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews also survive in McConnellstown. One brother, Harold Hood, preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Huntingdon High School with the class of 1944. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Eastern Nazarene College in 1950, a bachelor of divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary, and a master's degree in education from Fitchburg State Col- lege. He served with the U.S. Marines during World War 11, as a military policeman, serving in the Pacific Theater. In his early years, he was an ordained minister of the Church of the Nazarene, serving as a pastor in churches in Duluth, Minn., and Wauseon, Ohio. For over 26 years, he was employed as a science teacher with the Concord, Mass., school system, retiring in 1985. After his retirement, he was also a bookkeeper of accounts receivables with BOC. He has lived in Chelmsford, Mass. for the past 38 years and was a member, past treasurer, and Sunday school teacher of the Church of the Nazarene in Lowell, Mass. Her matemal grandparents, Thaddeus Walker of Three Springs and the late Myrtle Walker, helped to rear her. In addition to her mother and grandfather, she is survived by her husband, Elwood C. "Whitey" Keister and two daughters: Mrs. Timothy S. (Katina M.) Donelson Prevette, Kannapolis N.C.; and Mrs. Marshall (Theresa M.) Donelson Warden, Shippensburg. Four stepdaughters also survive: Mrs. Marty (Christa L.) Boyer, Dillsburg; Mrs. Jerry (Anita J.) Thiel, Dysart, Iowa; Carla D. Lennon, Dillsburg; and Mrs. Ray (Vanessa A.) Campbell, Pittsburgh. There are 12 grandchildren. Stephen Lazor, 83, of 9 Bedford St., Wood, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at 7 p.m., at his home. He died following an extended illness. Bom Dec. 21, 1916, in Kearney, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Kolodziejezyk) Lazor. He married Zola Ruth Crooks May 7, 1942, in Cumberland, Md. Mrs. Lazor survives at home, along with the following children: Nancy Lashinsky, Wood; Stephen P. Lazor, Glenmoore; Janice Matthews, Williamsport; Kerry Lazor and Brian Lazor, both of Wood. There are 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister survive: Victor Lazor, Cassville; Robert Lazor, Linden, N.J.; and Mary Bivens, Middletown. One grandson; two brothers, Nicholas and Andy Lazor; and three sisters, Helen Simbalista, Matilda Lazor and Elizabeth Lazor, preceded him in death. Mr. Lazor was of the Catholic faith. A U.S. Army veteran of World War 11, served with the 115th Panther Division in the European Theater of War. He received the following honors: Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Infantry Badge and Distinguished Service Medal. For 46 years, he was a coal miner in the Broad Top area. He retired in 1979 from Delta Mining Co., Somerset. He was a 50-year member of the United Mineworkers of America and Local No. 1968 District 11. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also collected mining artifacts. Born Feb. 1, 1913, in Shade Gap, he was the son of the late Paul H. and Olive (Carlin) Wilson. He married Marie Orth, who preceded him in death Oct. 29, 1979. One daughter and one son survive: Bonnie M. Miller, Hustontown; and Gary D. Wilson, Dry Run. There are nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Three sisters also survive: Madeline Cowan, Neelyton; Mamie Anderson, Shade Gap; and Cordelia Burdge, Hershey. Three brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson preceded him in death. In his earlier years, he had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. From 1959 until 1990, he had worked on several farms and ranches in California. Rosanna (Edmiston) Reed, 89, a resident of The Oaks at Westminster Woods since October 1997, formerly of 501 Washington St., Petersburg, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at 9:27 p.m., at Westminster Woods. Born Oct. 6,1910, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Edith E. (Anderson) Edmiston. She married Theodore R. Reed Nov. 10, 1931, at the bride's home, with the Rev. Charles Stong officiating. Mr. Reed preceded her in death June 8, 1986. Three children survive: Charles H. Reed, Alexandria, R.D. 1; Rosanna Ruth Laird, HCR 61, Mill Creek; and Norma C. Carter, Edwards, Colo. There are nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One brother, Charles W. Edmiston of Petersburg, survives. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna K. Reed; three sisters, Mary M. Edmiston, Grace Rupert and Rachel M. Yamell; and a brother, John M. Edmiston. Mrs. Reed was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Petersburg. - She had been employed by Throwing Mill, Susquehanna Silk Mill and Art's Diner in Huntingdon, and later by Balfurd's Laundry in State College. Perry, 18, of HCR 73, Three Springs, died at 1:19 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Great Lakes, Ill., as a result of an auto accident. Born May 14, 1982, in Lancaster, he was the son of Daynia (Perry) Germer, who survive in Three Springs. The following grandparents survive: James and Donna Perry, Marriane Baldori and Jacob Caldwell II, all of Lancaster. One great-grandmother, Mary Krewson of Lancaster survives. Also surviving are a brother and a sister, Ryan Caldwell and Elizabeth Germer, both of Lancaster. Paul Leslie Dysart, 82, of 395 Edwardsville Road, Apt. 201, Wood River, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at 9:45 p.m., at the Wood River Township Hospital, Wood River, I11. Born March 8, 1917, in Mapleton, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Bertha (McConahy) Dysart. He married M. Arlene Geissinger Oct. 5, 1939, in Huntingdon. The Rev. George Boggs officiated the ceremony. Mrs. Dysart preceded him in death Aug. 13, 1988. One son and one daughter survive; Joel E. Dysart, Baltimore, Md.; and Mrs. Rick (Patricia) Brewer, Godfrey, I11. There are two granddaughters. One sister, Mrs. Beulah D. Shawley of Huntsville, Ala., survives. Five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Dysart was a member of the Fifteenth Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. He was a life member and past commander of the Standing Stone Post No. 1754, VFW, and was past captain of the Pennsylvania All State Commanders. He retired from the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon November 1977. He also operated Dysart's Service Station at Seventh and Penn streets in Huntingdon. He attended the Mapleton and Mount Union area schools and was a 1935 graduate of the Mount Union High School. During World War 11, he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre of War. He had lived at his current residence since 1994. He enjoyed woodworking and model railroading. Funeral services will be held at the John B. Born April 19, 1924, in Coalmont, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Annie (Noel) Barnett. Mrs. McDowell was first married to Wendell Brown, who preceded her in death May 29, 1979. Later in her life she married Ernest McDowell, who also preceded her in death Feb. 10, 1997. Surviving are two daughters and one son: Cindy Myers of Elizabethtown; Janice Brown of Fayetteville, Ark.; and Merril Barnett of Jacksonville, N.C. One grandson, Michael Brown, was reared in her home. There are seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren surviving. Two sisters and one brother also survive: Phyllis Buckley, Coalmont; Lois Barefoot, Angola, N.Y.; and Bruce Barnett Jr., Norwalk, Calif. Two children preceded her in death: Sharon and Russell Brown, along with two brothers and one sister. While living in the Robertsdale area, Mrs. McDowell was a member of the Robertsdale United Methodist Church and most recently attended the Newville Bible Church. A 1942 graduate of the Saxton-Liberty High School, she was primarily a homemaker. During her life, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, square dancing and selling Avon. She was a member of the Eldo Squares square dancing club, the RW&BT ladies auxiliary, served on the Wood Township election board for several years and was a census taker for the past 50 years. She also owned Brown's Shop in Robertsdale for 15 years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, at 10 a.m., at the Curtis A. Earle James Magwood, 85, a resident of 1111 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, since 1993, formerly of Canada and California, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at 4:10 a.m., at Huntingdon Manor. Born Sept. 10, 1914, in Cartwright, Manitoba, Canada, he was the son of the late Wilberforce Thomas David and Annie Edna (Ross) Magwood. He married Phyllis Gertrude "Fay" Dyke Aug. 30, 1941, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She survives at their home. Three children survive: James Thomas Magwood, Bakersfield, Calif.; John Robert Magwood, Boston, Mass.; and Linda Faye Christine, Huntingdon. There are 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The last member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ross, and a sister, Ida Stephanson. Mr. Magwood was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Huntingdon. He belonged to various churches in Canada and California, where he served on church boards, taught Sunday School, sang in choirs, organized and helped to build a library and assisted in the planning and construction of several new churches. During his lifetime he had been employed as a pilot, teacher, carpenter, writer, real estate salesman and retired as director of the county planning department in Sonora, Calif. A veteran of World War 11, he served as a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force for five years. His squadron patrolled the west coast of Canada. He also flew commanding officers up and down the west coast of Canada. He attended the teacher training school in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in 1932 and the business college in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, from 1938 until 1940. Mr. Magwood enjoyed sports, especially hockey, baseball, tennis and horseback riding. His hobbies ranged from reading (especially the Bible), to stamp and coin collecting, music, gardening, drawing and painting. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 4, at 3 p.m., at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Hal Rotruck officiating.
