NORTH, 56, of 276 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, died at 3:35 p.m. Sunday Feb. 1, 2004, at her home. She was born March 30, 1947, in Huntingdon, the daughter of Leona A. (Chilcoat) Covert of Rockhill Furnace, and the late Wilbert E. Covert. Aside from her mother, she is survived by her husband, Richard L. North of Chambersburg, two sons Jaime C. North of Shippensburg and Ashley R. North of Chambersburg; a stepdaughter, Deanna Shipe of West Virginia; and a stepson, Darren North of Shippensburg. She is also survived by two sisters Mrs. Dave (Patricia) Smith of Orbisonia and Mrs. Larry (Linda) Miller of Lancaster; and two brothers Joseph Covert of Orbisonia and Thomas Covert of Shade Gap. A member of the United Methodist Church in Orbisonia, she was also a member of the Franklin Fire Co. in Chambersburg. A reporter for the Public Opinion newspaper in Chambersburg for over 30 years, in the 1980s she had been the assistant city editor. She received numerous awards; in 1996, best of Gannett, first place for feature writing for a story about retarded adults living at home; 1999 Best of Gannett, first place in special reporting for a five-part series on domestic violence (staff award); 1980 Associated Press Award, first place for story about a tornado touching down in Chambersburg (staff award); and 1995 Press Award for a story about 24 hours at Chambersburg Hospital. Services were held Feb. 6 in Chambersburg. Private interment will be made today in Lincoln Cemetery. E. Audette KUHN, 66, of 443 W. High St., Elizabethtown, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at the Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster. Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Hazel V. (Ritchey) Miller. She was united in marriage to Kenneth K. Kuhn who preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by four daughters and one son; Patricia S. Gipe, and her husband, William D. Jr., of Elizabethtown; Stevin T. Kuhn of Millersville; Penny A. Alt, and her husband, John W., of Palmyra; Ruth M. Brown, and her husband, Eric T., of Elizabethtown; and Mary Sue Henry of Lock Haven; and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother; Ruth Morningstar, and her husband, Lloyd, of Huntingdon; Joseph L. Miller, and his wife, Roxie, of Petersburg; Lorna Evans, and her husband, Leo, of Millheim; and Sue Keller, and her husband, Ronald, of Petersburg. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Jean Garber, Bonnie L. Anders and Helen Garber, and one brother, William G. Miller. Mrs. Kuhn attended the Alliance Church of Elizabethtown. A homemaker, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to aquatic exercise, she enjoyed cooking and solving jigsaw puzzles. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Alliance Church of Elizabethtown, 425 Cloverleaf Road, Elizabethtown. Interment will be made in Manor Brethren in Christ Cemetery, Mountville. J. Leroy HOOVER, 91, of Williamsburg, went home to be with the Lord Monday afternoon, Feb. 2, 2004, at the home of Shirley Salyards, his loving caregiver, near Williamsburg, following an extended illness. Born Feb. 26, 1912, in Penn Twp., Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Fred C. and Della (Womer) Hoover. He was twice married, first to Sara L. Hess Parks May 11, 1933, in Huntingdon County. She preceded him in death Jan. 11, 1966. He then married Ruth (Sollenberger) Hetrick Jan. 4, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Okla. She preceded him in death, Feb. 10, 1990. He is survived by a daughter, JoAnne "Jody" Woodard-Wade, and her husband, Rick, of Daphne, Ala.; a stepson, Ernest D. Hetrick, and his wife Evelyn, of Williamsburg; a foster stepson, Charles A. Fornwalt, and his wife, Sonya, of Covington, Va.; three grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandson. A brother, Edward Hoover of Indiana, Pa., survives. He was preceded in death by a son, Fred Leroy Hoover, June 16, 1998, in Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary and Ellen; and three brothers, Clair, Glenn and Paul. Mr. Hoover was affiliated with the Williamsburg Independent Bible Baptist Church and was a charter member of the former Faith Holiness Church, Altoona, where he had served as a lay minister. He attended a one-room school in Hesston. He was formerly self-employed as a carpenter and previously was a dairy farmer near Clappertown and a woodsman in Huntingdon County. He enjoyed woodworking until his late 80s, was a avid hunter and was devoted to his church affiliations. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at the Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, with Pastor Charles G. Sprowls officiating. Interment will be made in Royer Cemetery, Williamsburg, R.R. 2. Mary FLASHER, 69, of Mount Union, R.R. 2, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Jan. 24, 1935, in Wayne Twp., Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the late Crist and Agnes Mary (Mizer) Nickoloff. She was united in marriage to Robert R. Flasher June 6, 1959. She is survived by her husband at home; four sons; Robert Flasher Jr., Crist Flasher, Bill Flasher and Dave Flasher; and one daughter, Mary Baker. Six grandchildren survive; Vince Flasher, Melissa Flasher, Brandon Flasher, Nicky Flasher, Cody Flasher and Crista Flasher; as well as one great-granddaughter, Layla Ann Whitsel. She is also survived by three brothers, Lou Nickoloff, Alex Nickoloff and John Nickoloff. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Flasher was of the Protestant faith. Beverly Jane ARDREY, 66, of 803 Mount Vernon Ave., Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born May 4, 1937, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Nellie (Beaver) Isett. She was united in marriage to James Daniel Ardrey June 18, 1955, at St. James Lutheran Church in Huntingdon. She is survived by her husband at home; three sons: James Allen Ardrey, and his wife, Debora, of Alexandria; Troy Daniel Ardrey, and his wife, Carolyn, of Huntingdon; and Todd J. Ardrey, and his wife, Susan, of Hesston; Three grandsons: Larry Grubb of Three Springs, Jared Ardrey of Hesston and Benjamin Ardrey of Hesston and Benjamin Ardrey of Hesston; one granddaughter, Kelly Ardrey of Huntingdon; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ardrey was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Richard (Sara) Marks and a brother, Richard Isett. Mrs. Ardrey was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Huntingdon, and attended Hesston Community Chapel. She was a member of the Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1754 Ladies' Auxiliary; the Women of the Moose, Lodge No. 220; and was active with the American Cancer Society's Relay for life. she graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1955. She retired after many years of service in 2002 from Ames Dept. Store in Huntingdon, following the stores closing. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, Mrs. Ardrey enjoyed doing word searches, cooking and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Private family services will be held at the Curtright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, with the Rev. James L. Blair officiating. Interment will be made in Old Stone Church Cemetery, Penn Twp., Huntingdon County. Shirley S. DAVIDSON, 69, of Unionville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Born in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Eugene W. and Josephine (Duppstadt) Smith. She was the wife of Leonard "Steve" Davidson, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage. She is survived by her husband and three sons: James E. Davidson, and his wife, Carol (Karkosak), and their two sons, Joseph and Samuel; Robert S. Davidson, and his wife, Carol (Schlack), and their three children, Ashley, Matthew and Olivia; and John P. Davidson, and his wife, Vicki (Langrehr), and their two daughters, Abby and Jenna. A brother, Eugene Smith, survives. Mrs. Davidson served as an elder at Unionville Presbyterian Church and was very active within the church. She was a member of the NGA, The Chester County Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, the East Lynn Grange and the Po-Mar-Lin Ladies Auxiliary. She graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1952 and from Juniata College in 1956. She earned her masters degree from Penn State University. Mrs. Davidson taught at Captain Jack High School in Mount Union from 1956-1959 and was a Home Economics teacher at Unionville High School from 1960-1964 and the Unionville Middle School from 1972-1992. She was in charge of the chicken Barbecue from the Unionville Community Fair for over 20 years and was a volunteer for over 30 years at the fair. In 1986, the fair was dedicated to Mrs. Davidson for her services. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, needlepoint and ceramics. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the Unionville Presbyterian Church, Route 82 and Wollaston Road, Unionville, Interment will be made in Unionville Cemetery. Susan K. (Shope) FOSTER, 57, of 110 Pine St., Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born Sept. 2, 1946, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Warren "Joe" and Gwendolyn (Steele) Shope. She was united in marriage to Leslie R. "John" Foster Oct. 30, 1976, at the 15th Street United Methodist Church in Huntingdon. She is survived by her husband at home; and three daughters and three sons; Tammy (Gutshall) Hurley, and her husband, Patrick, of Huntingdon; James Gutshall, and his wife, Tina, of Camp Hill; Kimberly (Gutchall) Henry, and her husband, Trevor, of Charlottesville, Va.; Tricia (Foster) Norris, and her husband, Chad, of Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon; Timothy R, Foster of Huntingdon and Rick Foster of Camp Hill. Seven grandchildren survive: Erik and Kristen Hurley of Huntingdon; Alora and Kent Henry of Charlottesville, Va.; Luke Gutchall of Camp Hill; and Chase and Madeline Foster of Camp Hill. One brother, Timothy Shope of Huntingdon, and one sister, Debra (Shope) Henrich of Jackson Twp., Huntingdon County, survive. Mrs. Foster attended Mill Creek Baptist Church. She was a life member of the auxiliary to the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of the auxiliary to the Stone Creek Valley Lions Club, Huntingdon. She attended public schools in Huntingdon. She graduated from Huntingdon Area High School in the Class of 1964 and from the Altoona Beauty School. She was a self-employed beautician. Mrs. Foster was an avid bingo player and enjoyed reading, knitting and spending time with her family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Georgetta A. "Cookie" Hartley officiating. Joseph M. "Dune" FOLK, 77, of Six Mile Run, went to be with the Lord and his loving wife, Thursday, Feb. 5 2004. Born Aug. 21, 1926, in Six Mile Run, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jenny Folk. He was united in marriage to Ruth M. Lybarger, who preceded him in death in July 1988, after 35 years of marriage. He is survived by two sons, Joseph D. Folk, and his wife, Carloyn, of Six Mile Run and Glen Folk, and his wife, Deborah, of Carlisle; one daughter, Mary M. Pellin of Iowa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and four sisters. Mr. Folk was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Mersersburg VFW and American Legion. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retiree from Penn DOT, having served 17 years. Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Feb. 9, at the Curtis A. Heath Funeral Home, Broad Top City, with Pastor Stanley Cordell officiating. A military service will be held at the funeral home following the funeral. Interment will be made in Duvall Cemetery, Six Mile Run. Lawrence B. "Dutch" FISHER, 77, a resident of Anderson, Ind., since 1965, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Community Hospital in Anderson, lad., following a brief illness. Born May 31, 1926, in Hesston, he was the son of the late Phillip C. and Cora (Norris) Fisher. He was united in marriage to Shirley Collins. He is survived by his wife at home in Anderson, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Katherine Everhart of Waldorf, Md.; two step-grandchildren, Jenny Everhart and Jimmy Everhart; and several step-great-grandchildren. He is survived by 10 brothers and sisters; Paul Fisher of James Creek; William Fisher, and his wife, Marge, of Huntingdon; Harry Fisher, and his wife, Linda, of Alexandria; Ruth Hess, and her husband, Carl, of Huntingdon; Pearl Baker of Huntingdon; Gert Fisher of James Creek; Betty Lynn, and her husband, John, of James Creek; Thelma Dively, and her husband, John, of Williamsburg; and Elda Pennebaker-McClure; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Fisher and Clarence "Pete" Fisher; and one sister, Mary Fisher. Mr. Fisher first farmed in Penn Township, Huntingdon County, and later worked at Bob Millers' Sawmill and for Hickes Construction. After moving to Indiana, he worked for Emge Meat Packing Co., retiring in 1986 with 17 years of service. He had also worked for several farmers in the Anderson, Ind. area. Mr. Fisher was an avid hunter, fisherman and collector. He loved spending time with his family and friends and playing cards. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, at Jacob's United Church of Christ. Hesston, R.R. 1, with the Rev. James L. Blair officiating. Interment will be made in White Church Cemetery, Hesston. R.R. 1. Margaret E. TRUAX, 89, of the Village of Morrisons Cove, died at 3:54 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at the Village following an extended illness. Born Feb. 7, 1914, in Winburne, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Anna Marie (Henwood) Park. She was united in marriage to Alveh Truax March 14, 1947, at the Robertsdale Methodist church. Mr. Truax preceded her in death April 2, 1995. She is survived by a brother, Ed Park, and his wife, Myra (Ross), of Huntingdon, and a sister, Mr. Charles (JoAnn) Greenland of Dancansville. She was preceded in death by five brothers; William Park, James Park, Robert Park, Allen Park and Fred Park; and two sisters: Leona Price and Betty Gracey. Mrs. Truax was a member of the Wells Valley Methodist Church. She was a member of AARP. She was a 1932 graduated of Robertsdale High School and completed a business course in Windber. For a number of years, she was employed at the N.L. McClain Store in Robertsdale. She also served as postmistress in Robertsdale for 17 years. Mrs. Turax enjoyed reading, knitting and various crafts. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with Pastor Janet Sell officiating. Interment will be made in Wells Valley Cemetery, New Grenada, R.R. Howard V. LOCKE JR., 87, of 5840 Fairway Drive West, Fayetteville, died early Friday morning, Feb. 6, 2004, at Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 4, 1916, in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Dr. Howard V. and Viola (Bebleheimer) Locke and step-mother, Mayme Locke Bundy. He was united in marriage to Marian "Mickey" Jennings Jan. 12. 1955. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Barbara Bachtell, and her husband, Edward, of New Carrollton, Md.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A sister, Gwen (Locke) Gibson of Baltimore, Md., survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Radford Locke, DDS. Mr. Locke was a member of the Chambersburg Lions Club, BPO Elks Lodge, Huntingdon; Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post No. 1599, Chambersburg; and American Legion Post No. 518, Orbisonia. A life-long Philadelphia Phillies fan, he had managed the former Orbisonia Red Sox baseball team and has been a member of the Huntingdon Baseball League. He was a 1933 graduate of Orbisonia High School. He then attended Mercersburg Academy and Bucknell University. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1944-1946. Mr. Locke had owned and operated the former General Insurance Agency in Orbisonia and then, along with his wife, owned and operated motels in Chambersburg, Hagerstown and Carlisle. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in the chapel of the Thomas I. Geisel Funeral Home, Chamberburg, with the Rev. Jeffrey R. Diller officiating. Private interment will be made in Orbisonia Cemetery. M. Paul EVERHART, 65, of 414 Fourth St., Huntingdon, died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Huntingdon Manor, Huntingdon, where he had been a resident since September 2003. Born Jan. 15, 1939, in Todd, he was the son of the late Frank and Clara (Lane) Everhart. He was united in marriage to Connie R. Hardy Nov. 28, 1956, at the Presbyterian Church parsonage in Front Royal, Va., by the Rev. Oren Moore. He is survived by his wife at home; two sons: Randy L. Everhart, and his wife, Jennifer, and Jerry L. Everhart, and his wife, Suzanne, all of Huntingdon; six grandsons: Paul Everhart, Nathan Everhart, Benjamin Everhart, Ryan Everhart, Jason Everhart and Dustin Everhart, all of Huntingdon; and a granddaughter, Katy Everhart of Huntingdon. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary A. Hardy of Alexandria. Three brothers survive: Carl Everhart of Mount Union and William Everhart Sr. and Harold Everhart, and his wife, Lillian, all of Huntingdon. He was especially close to his canine companion, Casey. He was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister. Mr. Everhart was a life member of Huntingdon No. 1 Fire Co., with 44 years of service. He had been past president, chief engineer and was one of the three original rescue captains in 1975 when the company started its rescue service. He was recognized for his years of service and work for the fire company in 1991, when he was presented the prestigious Don Isenberg Lantern Boy Memorial Award. Ten years later, he presented the same award to his son, Randy. He was also a member of the Salvation Army, Teamsters Local No. 110, the Huntingdon County Firemen's Association, the Central District Firemen's Association and the Spruce Shelter Huntingdon Camp. Mr. Everhart attended Huntingdon High School. He had been employed by Hardy Masonry Contracting until 1962. He worked for Penn DOT from 1962-1965. In 1965, he went to work for Reeves Parvin and retired from its successor, Gateway-Fleming Foods, in 1999. Following his retirement, he worked part time for the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Weaver the Florist, Clapper's Flowers, TEAM Chevrolet and as a CART driver for the Area Agency on Aging. Mr Everhart was an avid fan supporter of all Huntingdon Bearcat sports teams and enjoyed tailgating at Penn State football games. He was an original member of the Huntingdon Little League Legion Team, which two years later became the Phillies, sponsored by the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24. He played and coached with his lifetime friend, Don Shaffer Sr. Both of his sons were also members of the team and he was the coach for the team during the years when his son, Jerry, was a player. Mr. Everhart was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon and had resided at his Fourth Street home since 1975. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was an avid fan and supporter of all Huntingdon Bearcat sports teams and enjoyed tailgating at Penn State football games. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, with Major Ronald G. Freiert of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will be private. Virginia (O'Shell) STEEL, 94, of 313 Proxell Switch Road, Dallas, Pa., for the past 10 years, and formerly of Mill Creek, died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at the Mercy Center in Dallas following a brief illness. Born Jan. 16, 1910, in Mill Creek, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Alice (Gorsuch) O'Shell. She was united in marriage to Raymond Charles Steel Sept. 3, 1927, at the Lutheran parsonage in Huntingdon by the Rev. Dr. Edmund L. Manges. Mr. Steel preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1987. She is survived by two daughters, Lena (Steel) Carmon of Dallas; two grandchildren, Connie (Corbin) Nagle, and her husband, Bill, of Mount Joy and Jennifer (Corbin) Glessner, and her husband, Joe, of Lancaster; three great-grandchildren: Chad Nagle, and his wife, Kristen, of Elizabethtown, Christopher Nagle of Rehobeth Beach, Del., and Lindsay Nagle of Mount Joy; and two great-great-grandchildren, Madelyn Nagle and Caden Nagle. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Mrs. Steel was a member of Mill Creek United Methodist Church. She attended public schools in Mill Creek. In 1961, she retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, having also worked for the company's predecessor, the Huntingdon Throwing Co. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the John B. Brown Funeral home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. J. Faust Hissong officiating. Interment will be made in Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek. Kenneth Eugene ANDERSON, 48, of 1460 Pennsylvania Ave., Tyrone, formerly of Huntingdon, died unexpectedly at 2 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at his home. Born July 6, 1955, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Kenneth Carlton and Estella Belle (Null) Anderson. He is survived by his mother of 4 Warm Springs Acres, Huntingdon. His father preceded him in death March 17, 1980. He is survived by a sister, Patricia (Anderson) Gray, and her husband, Richard, of Jermyn. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton B. Anderson and Sidney Wallace Durbec. Mr. Anderson attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon Area High School with the Class of 1973. He was formerly employed at ELCO's State College facility. He enjoyed antiques, dishes and gardening. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of Mr. Anderson's family. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Twp., Huntingdon, R.R. Beula V. (Drake) VARNER, 103, a life-long resident of Huntingdon and a resident of Valley View Haven, Belleville, since 1994, died at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at Valley View Haven. Born April 1, 1900, in Saltillo, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Laura (Heck) Drake. She was united in marriage to Charles V. Varner May 31, 1919, at the First Methodist Church in Huntingdon. Mr. Varner preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1990. She is survived by a son, Glenn E. Varner of Huntingdon; three grandsons; Vincent Varner of Huntingdon, Monty Varner of Mill Creek and Randall Varner of Mechanicsburg; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A sister, Olive Hunsicker of Ocala, Fla., survives. She was preceded in death by a brother, Foster Drake, and a sister, Margie Saylor. Mrs. Varner was a longtime member of the 15th Street United Methodist Church in Huntingdon. She was a member of the Daughters of Ruth Sunday School Class. A 1917 graduate of Saltillo High School, she taught school in Trough Creek Valley for a few years. She was primarily a homemaker. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of Mrs. Varner's family at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon. with the Rev. W. Keith Rockwell officiating. Born March 29, 1915, in Altoona, he was one of 13 children of the late Robert and Edith (Condrin) Dore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Evelyn (Baker) Dore. He is survived by three brothers, Harold K, Dore of Venice, Fla., and Orville C. Dore and Glenn W. Dore, both of Huntingdon; and his adopted family, Mike and Nancy Fixx of Leesburg, Va., Ellen Fixx of Ashburn, Va., and Brian Fixx of Pittsburgh. He was preceded in death by seven brothers: Robert, Ralph, Edward, Luther, Sheldon and Gerald Dore; and three sisters: Mrs. William (Edith Dore) Garner, Verna E. Dore and Genevieve N. (Dore) Shoop. Mr. Dore was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church. He grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Huntingdon High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Arlington, Va., and for 31 years worked as the manager for Hahn Shoes in Washington, D.C. He and his late wife moved to Leesburg, Va., in 1978, after he retired. During the 1980s, he worked as a substitute teacher with Loudoun County Public Schools and was an active member of the Senior Center & Cafe. He also worked for 15 years as a longtime starter at the West Park Golf Club. Funeral services have been held and interment was made in Union Cemetery in Leesburg, Va. Glenn S. "Spike" SPICHER SR., 81, of 313 King Lane, Belleville, died at 1:26 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born May 22, 1922, in Kalona, Iowa, he was the son of the late Jesse E. and Nancy (Ropp) Spicher. He was united in marriage to Ruth S. Spicher Nov. 12, 1976. He is survived by his wife at home; three daughters, N. Jane Fox of East Hampton, Conn., Gloria J. Zook, and her husband, Mark, of Loganton, and Carol S. Waggy, and her husband, Norman, of Goshen, Ind.; two sons, Glenn S. Spicher Jr., and his wife, Linda, of Elmira, N.Y., and Galen J. Spicher, and his wife, Mary Beth, of Goshen, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A brother, Ray S. Spicher of Ozawkie, Kan., and a sister, Arlene M. Spicher of Chambersburg, as well as several nieces and nephews, survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vesta M. Sherman, and a stepdaughter, Carlo Y. Bigelow. Mr. Spicher was a member of West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church where he held various offices. He was a charter member and honorary lifetime member of the Gettysridge Rod & Gun Club; honorary life member of the Belleville Fire Department Co. Number One, also serving with the fire police; an organizer, charter member and past president of Big Valley Ambulance Club, serving as an EMT instructor and driver; and a life member of Stroup-Alexander Post No. 5935 VFW, Belleville, and the American Legion. Mr. Spicher served as a staff sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, earning a Bronze Star in the European Theatre. He retired in 1985 from Sperry New Holland after 35 years of service. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing and fishing. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Nov. 22, 1931, in Fishertown, he was the son of the late William P. and Gladys Amelia (Brown) Seager. He was united in marriage to Missouri L. Fitzgerald June 4, 1955, at Christ Reformed Church, United Church of Christ, Alexandria. He is survived by his wife at home; a son, Charles Robert Seager Jr. of Alexandria; a daughter, Mrs. Ken (Tamara S.) Beck of Alexandria; a grandson, Derek Allison; and three granddaughters, Paige Allison, Annissa Seager and Briana Seager. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Richard "Dixie" (Shirley) Myers and Mrs. Donald (Ann) Hicks, both of Huntingdon; and three brothers, Donald Max Seager and T. Stephen Seager, both of Huntingdon, and Walter "Butch" Seager of Bluefield, W.Va. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Cale Seager, and a sister-in-law, June Seager. Mr. Seager was of the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Saxton-Liberty High School with the Class of 1949. He worked for a number of years for L.C. Anderson Construction; Huntingdon Water Works; The Daily News; J.C. Blair Co., and its sucessor, Mead-Westvaco. He retired in 1992 from Chemcut Corporation, State College. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon County, Mr. Seager dearly loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the Juniata Valley Senior Citizens Center, Fishing, playing his guitar and bowling. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born July 27, 1925, in Needmore, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Gertrude (Mellott) Mellott. On Jan. 13, 1951, she was united in marriage to Albert C. "A.C." Carbaugh, who preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1985. She is survived by two daughters, Linda K. Ticconi, and her husband, Louis, of Big Greenbriar Road, McVeytown, and Connie L. Pratt, and her husband, Murray, of Mount Union; six grandchildren; Gynger Corle, Jennifer Fleck, Larry Hoffman, Chris Pratt, Murray Pratt and Matthew Pratt; and six great-grandchildren. WYKOFF, 87, a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, for the past seven years and formerly of DeForrest Apartments, Huntingdon, died at 3:55 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Woodland. Born Aug. 1, 1916, at the family home on Stone Creek Ridge, Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Almo and Margaret (Height) Wykoff. She is survived by one son, Joseph A. Wykoff, and his wife, Carol, of State College; two granddaughters, Mrs. Lynn (Deborah Jo) Higgins of Huntingdon and Mrs. Michael (Lisa) Witzel of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandsons, Kurt Wykoff of Huntingdon and Greg Wykoff, and his wife, Briget, of Fairfield, Conn.; and nine great-grandchildren. Born June 7, 1925, at the family home in Hopewell, he was the son of the late H. Claude and Ruth (Simons) Smith. He was united in marriage to Audrey Patricia Long Oct. 6, 1956, in Cumberland, Md. He is survived by his wife at home; one son, Emmons Forrest Smith of Saxton; one daughter, Nancy L. Smith of Saxton; and two granddaughters, Kristina Reise of Illinois and Amber Smith of Saxton. Three brothers, Forrest Smith of Everett, Gene Smith of Philadelphia and Dale Smith of Breezewood, and two sisters, Anna Grubb of Bedford and Claudia Miller of Hopewell, survive. Interment will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Three Springs, R.R. David R. APPLEBY, 71, of 605 W. Pine St., Palmyra, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon. Born Oct. 1, 1932, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Thomas and Verna (Kyper) Appleby. He is survived by his wife, Glenda C. (White) Appleby; a son, Theodore D. "Ted" Appleby, and his wife, Sally, of Lawn; a daughter, Susan E. McGahey, and her husband, Kevin, of Ambler; and four grandchildren: Caleb and Corey Appleby and Elizabeth and Matthew McGahey. Also surviving are four brothers: Duncan Appleby of Leola; Landry Appleby, and his wife, Carol, of Annville; Robert Appleby, and his wife, Crystal, of Hesston; and Thomas Appleby, and his wife, Barbara, of Vineland, N.J.; and one sister, Ardeth Hicks, and her husband, Coy, of Shirleysburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, John "Jack" Appleby. Mr. Appleby was a member of First United Methodist Church, Palmyra, where he was a communion server. A 1950 graduate of Huntingdon High School and a 1956 graduate of Juniata College, Mr. Appleby served as a corporal with the 131st Truck Co. from Huntingdon, Pennsylvania National Guard, during the Korean Conflict from August 1950 until April 1952, serving in Korea from January 1951 until February 1952. He retired as principal from Palmyra Area Middle School after 30 years of service and went on to serve as assistant principal at Palmyra Area High School for several years. He served as an announcer for the Palmyra football games and track meets and was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports. Funeral services were held Feb. 19 in Palmyra. Interment was made in Indiantown Gap Cemetery, Annville. Paul R. "Dick" REES, 83, of Palm Gardens, Tamps, Fla., died Feb. 15, 2004, at his home following an extended illness. Born March 27, 1920, in Six Mile Run, he was the son of the late Paul and Mildred (Cullen) Rees. He is survived by his wife, Ana M. Rees at home, and one brother, James G. Rees of Chicago, Ill. Mr. Rees was a veteran of World War II, having served the United States Army as a paratrooper in Normandy. A Purple Heart recipient, he was wounded twice during the Battle of the Bulge. Leonard Eugene SNYDER, 80, of HCR 75, shade Gap, died at 9:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at his home in Dublin Township, Huntingdon. County. Born April 17, 1923, in Dublin Twp., he was the son of the late Frank and Lillian (Hampton) Snyder. He was united in marriage to Lorma M. Rinker Nov. 4, 1944, in Mount Union. He is survived by his wife at home; two sons, L. Jay Snyder of Dillsburg and Larry J. Snyder of Burnt Cabins; five grandchildren; Donna K. Shore of Shade Gap, Eugene W. Snyder-Johnson of Shade Gap, Amy L. Snyder of Charlotte, S.C., and Bryan Snyder and Chris Snyder, both of Burnt Cabins; two step-grandchildren, Marcie Kennedy of Carlisle and Urica Snyder of New Cumberland; and five great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Shirleysburg Grange; the Pennsylvania Nite Hunters Association; and the Fort McCord Coon Hunters Association of St. Thomas, and was a founding member and past president of the Shade Mountain Coonhunters. Mr. Snyder cooked and served breakfast at the Hilltop Restaurant in Shade Gap and was also a rural mail carrier for the Shade Gap area. He was an avid coonhunter and enjoyed training beagles. CISNEY, 66, of Blairs Mills, R.R. 1, died at 3:55 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at her home in Tell Twp., Huntingdon County, after being in failing health for the past year. Born March 5, 1937, in Nordmont, Sullivan County, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Irene (Curtis) Cox. She was united in marriage to Norman E. Cisney March 9, 1973. Her husband and son, Aaron T. Cisney, survive at home. She is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Brian (Lorrie I. Cox) Gensemer of Denver, Pa.; a son, Warren E. Cisney of Blairs Mills; two stepdaughters, Mrs. David (Carolyn E.) Darrah of Newburg and Mrs. Mark (Crystal A.) Phillips of Wylie, Texas; a stepson, Norman L. Cisney of Shade Gap; and 10 grandchildren. Interment will be made in Shade Valley Cemetery, Blairs Mills, R.R. Lillian J. DOWNING, 85, of 775 Farmdale Road, Mount Joy, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Mount Joy. Born in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late John S. and Edna (Taylor) Eaton. She was united in marriage to Wayland S. Downing who preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara J. Geib, and her husband, Jay, of Mount Joy; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth Eaton Downing, and two sisters, Irma E. Kelley and Lois Sutton. Mrs. Downing attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Joy. Prior to her marriage, she was employed for eight years in the ladies department at Kann's Department Store in Washington, D.C. Her hobbies included playing Scrabble, watching game shows and baseball games on television, especially the Philadelphia Phillies. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, working on the lawn and embroidery. Ramona Pauline (Keith) LINN, 75, of 806 Front St., Newton Hamilton, died unexpectedly at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg. Born Sept. 11, 1928, in Lumber City, Mifflin County, she was the Daughter of the late John Keith and the late Edna Mae Bilger. She was united in marriage to Willis H. Linn Nov. 29, 1952, in Clearfield. Mr. Linn preceded her in death May 1, 1998. She is survived by four sons and one daughter: Robert G. Brown Sr. of Mount Union; Willis R. "Bill" Linn Sr. of Shirleysburg; Norman H. Linn of Newton Hamilton; Theresa M. (Linn) Hikes of Newton Hamilton, and Charles R. Linn Sr. of Lewistown; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Oren Carlin; a granddaughter, Helen Brown; and a grandson, Robert G. Brown Jr. During her lifetime, Mrs. Linn was active in the Newton Hamilton United Methodist Church and the Mount Union Assembly of God Church, which she was currently attending. With her family she owned and operated Linn's Riverfront Store in Newton Hamilton from 1954 to 1982. She was also a caregiver for over 15 years and most recently was employed by the United Cerebral Palsy Association. Her hobbies included shopping, going to yard sales and playing bingo. Eugene "Gene" Wright, 77, of 1216 Moore St., Huntingdon, since 1995, and formerly of Valley View Farm, Water Street, died unexpectedly at 12:47 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, in Huntingdon. Born Aug. 14, 1926 at Valley View Farm, Morris Twp., Water Street, he was the son of the late James Layton Wright and Anna (Goodman) Wright. He was united in marriage to Helen L. Arthur Oct. 2, 1954, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Juniata, Altoona, by the Rev. Glenn Weight. Mrs. Wright survives at home. He is survived by two sons, Paul Daniel Wright of Harrisburg and James Thomas Wright and his wife, Rebecca (Kyper), of Valley View Farm, Water Street; and one daughter, Carol Elizabeth (Wright) Wenner and her husband, James S., of Alexandria. Four grandchildren, Lauren and Caleb Wright of Valley View Farm, and Christine and Oliva Wenner of Alexandria, also survive. He is survived by one brother, Carl L. Wright, and his wife Phyllis (Buddle) of Juniata, Altoona. He is also survived by one brother-in-law, Barry Kephart of Lakemont. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by a sister, Norma J. (Wright) Kephart. Mr. Wright was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Huntingdon. He was the current financial secretary of the church and a member of the Tuesday Morning Work Crew. Prior to Wright's move to Huntingdon, he attended the former Christ Lutheran Church of Water Street, at which he taught adult Sunday School, was a member of the church council and served as the church treasurer. Mr. Wright was currently a volunteer driver for the Huntingdon Meals-On-Wheels program. He was a former Webelos leader with Troop #24 of the Boy Scouts of America in Alexandria. He was previously active in the Hartslog Valley Grange and the Pennsylvania State Grange. Heobits.ems attended the Alexandria public schools and graduated from Alexandria High School. A self-employed dairy farmer, Mr. Wright also was employed by E.B. Endres as a cabinetmaker. Following his retirement from Endres, Mr. Wright was employed by Valley Rural Electric Cooperative. He served in the American Theatre with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, holding the rank of private upon his honorable discharge from the service. An avid square dancer, Mr. Wright enjoyed hunting on the family farm, travel, woodwork and especially spending time with his grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Ms. Hess was preceded in death by four brothers, Martin Hess, Samuel Hess, John Leonard Hess and Jacob W. Hess, and four sisters, Mary Catherine Hess, May Garlock, Florence Brenneman and Grace Hess. She was survived by a large number of nephews and nieces. She is a former member of McConnellstown Church of the Nazarene. She attended Huntingdon schools and was a graduate of God's Bible School, Cincinnati, Ohio. During her life she was a licensed practical nurse working as a private duty nurse and caregiver in Cincinnati, Ohio and Delray Beach, Fla. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in Huntingdon with the Rev. Richard Harter officiating. Interment will be made in Old Stone Church Cemetery, James Creek, R.R. 1. Dr. James H. SHULTZ, 70, of 238 S. First St., McConnellsburg, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at his residence. Born in Spruce Creek on Sept. 18, 1933, he was the son of the late Lambert A. and Bessie R. (Rhine) Shultz. He was the husband of Janet E. (Thomas) Shultz. They were married Nov. 28, 1952. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Eileen S. Decker and her husband Gary K.; Carol L. Ritz and her husband Roger A.; and Linda K. Shives and her husband Eric G.; all of Harrisonville, and one brother, Lambert Shultz of Quakertown. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Julie (Decker) Shafer, Laura (Decker) Mellott, Austin Irwin, Alan Shives, Brad Ritz, Nicole Shives, Cody Ritz, Emily Decker, and three great-grandchildren; Katie, Nicolas and Lily. Mr. Shultz was a member of the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher of the teenage class and continued to serve as a member of the church council and chairman of the stewardship committee. He graduated from Saltillo Senior High School, attended Juniata College for two years and then was accepted at and transferred to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, where he graduated in 1956. Jim, Janet and their young daughter, Eileen Susan, moved to McConnellsburg in 1956 where he opened an optometry practice Sept. 10, 1956. The practice developed to the point that in January of 1995 he asked Joey L. Lane, O.D. to join him in the practice of optometry in 1996 after undergoing a left nephrectomy due to cancer in the kidney and adjacent tissue. He continued to work part time as an eye care provider until Eric P. Daly O.D., joined the practice in 1997. He was a member of the Mid-Counties Optometric Assoc., the Pennsylvania Optometric Assoc., the American Optometric Assoc., the Mr. Zion Masonic Lodge #774, the AARP, the Fulton County Historical Society, where he had the privilege of writing the Society's 1999 publication "The Forbes Road and General John Forbes." He served on the Central Fulton School Board of Directors from 1964 to 1972. During that time he was also vice president of the Intermediate Unit for which he had the privilege of giving the name "The Tuscarora Intermediate Unit." He is a past president of Great Cove Golf and Recreation Club and served two terms on the board of directors. From 1959 through 1965 he served as District Chairman of Great Cove District of the Mason Dixon Council Boy Scouts of America where he was especially pleased to establish a program to accept used scout uniforms which were distributed to scouts for free. John Henderson LEWIS, 86, a resident of Valley View Haven, Belleville, since August 2003, and formerly of 304 Pine St., Smithfield Twp., Huntingdon, died at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Valley View Haven. Born Dec. 3, 1917, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Alex L. and Mary Rebecca (Jones) Lewis. He was united in marriage to Margaret Jean Beers March 8, 1941, at Evangelical United Brethren Church, Huntingdon. He is survived by his wife at Valley View Haven; one son, John David Lewis, and his wife, Lisa (Rote) of Dayton, Md.; One daughter, Mary Judith (Lewis) Moore, and her husband, Carl V., of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; three grandsons; one granddaughter; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters; Minerva (Lewis) Reed, Walter Lewis, Ray Lewis and Leslie (Lewis) Corbin. Mr. Lewis was a member of Huntingdon Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 976, Huntingdon; Standing Stone Post No. 1754, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Huntingdon; and Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion, Huntingdon. He was a former member of the Standing Stone Golf Club and the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Co. He attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1935. He served with the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Anacostia, attaining the rank of Seaman First Class upon his discharge April 2, 1946. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier and was previously employed at SCI Huntingdon as a corrections officer. Mr. Lewis was an avid reader of history and biographies. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Twp., Huntingdon. Frederick D. STEEL, 84, of HCR 1, Huntingdon, died early Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 2004, at his home. Born Sept. 20, 1919, in Calvin, he was a son of the late Carl and Sarah (Stapleton) Steel. He was once married to the former Dorothy Mae Wagner who survives at Woodland Retirement Center in Orbisonia. He is survived by two children, Randall Steel, and his wife, Linda, of HCR 2, Huntingdon, and Paulette Borger, and her husband, Ronald, of Huntingdon; Four grandchildren; and number of great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Steel and Cloyd Steel, and one sister, Josephine Taylor. Mr. Steel was a member of Calvin United Methodist Church. He was a 1937 graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the Army Air Force from Jan. 12, 1942, until Sept. 23, 1945, as a cryptographer, obtaining the rank of staff sergeant. He was employed at the Juniata Shops, Altoona, for two and one-half to three years; as a machinist at C.H. Miller's for many years; the Huntingdon Machine shop; and then as a clerk for the United States Postal Service in Huntingdon, retiring in 1981. Estella Belle (Null) ANDERSON, 83, of 4 Warm Springs Acres, Huntingdon, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following a brief illness. Born Sept. 16, 1920, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of Leroy Carl and Nellie Elizabeth (Bowman) Null. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Carlton Anderson Sept. 3, 1946, at the 15th Street Methodist Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. R.A. Zimmerman. Mr. Anderson preceded her in death March 17, 1980. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Anderson) Gray, and her husband, Richard, of Jermyn; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear neighbor, caregiver and friend, Michele L. Speck. She was preceded in death by three sons, Carlton B,. Anderson, Kenneth Eugene Anderson and Sidney Wallace Durbec; four sisters, Devona Null, Viola Null, Charlotte Quarry and Mary Ward; and two brothers, Philip Null and Harris Null. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Nov. 9, 1925, in Tyrone, he was the son of the late John Patrick and May Elizabeth (Donovan) Kelly. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. W. William Howard ETSWEILER JR., Ed.D., 84, of Cumberland Crossing, Carlisle, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at Hershey Medical Center. Born June 14, 1919, in Millersburg, he was the son of William Howard Sr. and Prudence (Wingard) Etsweiler. He was united in marriage to Sophia M. Powell April 17, 1942. He is survived by his wife of 61 years; two daughters, Joan Elaine Logan of Hampden, Conn., and Victoria Ann Gabis, and her husband, Olivier, of St. Clairsville, Ohio; one son, William Andrew Etsweiler, Carlisle, and his wife, Diane (Clepper) of North Middleton Twp.; and four grandchildren; Christian Gabis and Mary Gabis, both of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Ulrich Etsweiler and Ranier Etsweiler, both of North Middleton Twp. Dr. Etsweiler was a past president of the Union Athletic Association in Lansdowne. He was a member of the Horizon Center Orchestra in Reading and a member of the former Millersburg Boys Band. He was a graduate of Millersburg High School and received his bachelor's degree from California State Teacher's College in 1942. He earned his master's and doctor's degrees from Penn State University in 1949 and 1956, respectively. Dr. Etsweiler's military career included service in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve as a lieutenant commander in 1971. During his career in academics, Dr. Etsweiler taught industrial arts at Huntingdon High School in 1946 and again from 1952-56. He was a guidence counselor and high school principal in several Pennsylvania school districts, including Susquehanna Township School District, Conemaugh Township School District and Lansdowne-Aldan School District. He also served as dean of academic affairs at Spring Garden College, Philadelphia, prior to moving to the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, from which he retired as executive director in 1981. He served as vice chairman of the Council on Regional School Accrediting Commission and as a member of the National Study of School evaluation and other school evaluation-related organizations. Beyond the academic field, Dr. Etsweiler worked in industry as a compliance inspector, management consultant, tooling engineer and as a curriculum consultant for the Curriculum Branch, Bureau of Naval Personnel. Kimberly K. PATERSON-LANG, M.D., 47 of 1181 Putman Blvd., Wallingford, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2004, at her home, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born Sept. 22, 1956, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of Frances Paterson Cowan and the late Phillip D. Paterson. She was married to Robert W. Lang Oct. 18, 2003, in Philadelphia. Surviving are her husband at their home; her mother and stepfather, Dr. George R. Cowan, of Woodbury, N.J.; two brothers and two sisters: Allie H. Bird of Washington, D.C.; Phillip D. Paterson Jr., and his wife, Patricia, Alexandria; J. Randolph Paterson, Huntingdon, R.R. 1; and Jane Paterson Ayers, and her husband, James, Petersburg, R.R. 1. Also surviving are two nieces and four nephews. Dr. Paterson-Lang was a member of the Tenth Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia. She was also a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Association, the Delaware County Medical Society and the Christian Medical and Dental Society. A graduate of Juniata Valley High School, Class of 1974, she was also an alumna of Cornell University and Temple University School of Medicine. She did postgraduate training at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. She dedicated her life to the practice of internal medicine. Dr. Paterson-Lang was board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine. For the past 15 years she was a partner in an internal medicine practice at Chester. She was an attending physician at Crozer Chester Medical Center and associate clinical instructor at the Temple University School of Medicine, teaching medical students and residents. Dr. Paterson-Lang was also a clinician at Worth Health Center at Swarthmore College and an active member of several hospital committees including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Prior to going to Crozer Chester Medical Center, Dr. Paterson-Lang was medical director at both the Conneaut Valley Health Center and the Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneaut, and was an attending physician at the Meadville Medical Center, Meadville. Then, From 1988 to 1994, Dr. Paterson-Lang was a clinician at the Center for Occupational Health, Crozer Chester Medical Center. During her career, Dr. Paterson-Lang served several short-term assignments as a medical missionary with AGAPE, the Russian-American Medical Center in Moscow, Russia. Pete RABENSTEIN, 81, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, and formerly of Cooks and of Saxton for the past 18 years, died at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at the veterans home. He had been in failing health for the past year. Born May 7, 1922, in Wood, he was the son of the late Martha Rabenstein Edwards Smith. He is survived by three sons, Richard A. Rabenstein, and his wife, Charlee, of Stow, Ohio; John A. Rabenstein, and his wife, Ellen, of Saxton; and Tom A. Rabenstein, and his wife, Pat, of Broad Top City; two daughters, Martha A. Flory of Harrisburg and Bonnie Horton, and her husband, Clair, of Eagle Foundry; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Two sisters, Marie Croh Mills of Fayetteville and Sarah Hawkins Cook of Harrisonville, and one brother, Audrey Edwards of Akron, Ohio, survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and John Edwards, and one grandson. Mr. Rabenstein was a member of the Saxton VFW, where he previously held office, and the Broad Top City American Legion, where he was a past commander. He was also a member of the Elks. He was a 1940 graduate of Robertsdale High School. Mr. Rabenstein served as a corporal in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II and as a sergeant in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He had been employed as a supervisor at Letterkenney Army Dept, Chambersburg, and also worked as a self-employed TV and Radio repairman. DULL, 44, of 22 W. Milford St., Mount Union, died unexpectedly at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at her home. Born March 9, 1959, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus E. and Annabelle (Shields) Ritchey. She was united in marriage to Bruce A. Dull June 8, 1984, in Mount Union. She is survived by her husband at home; Two daughters, Tammie Ritchey and Mindy Dull, both of Mount Union; and one grandson, Latavin Spriggs. One brother and four sisters survive: Harold E. Feb. 24, 2004, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. He had been in failing health for the past month. Born Feb. 24, 1938, in Joller, he was the son of the late Charles V. and Zurie M. (Lane) Martin. He was united in marriage to Beverly Buckley April 23, 1960, at Cassville Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Jody Martin and Kevin Martin, both of Cooks. Two sisters and two brothers survive; Dorothy Howe of Omaha, Neb.; Betty Vandevender of Barberton, Ohio; Howard Martin of Orbisonia; and William Martin of Cooks. One brother, Fred Martin, preceded him in death. Mr. Martin was a member of the Paraclete Ministries Fellowship and served as an elder in the church. He most recently worked at JLG Industries in the wire shack and previously for the Laborers Union No. 910, Johnstown. During his life he enjoyed the outdoors. Interment will he made in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cooks, where full military honors will be accorded. Herbert A. GARBER SR., 75, of S. Fourth St., Huntingdon, died at 7:34 p.m, Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Aug. 1, 1928, in Port Matilda, he was the son of the late Aaron Jr. and Bertha M. (Clapper) Garber. He was united in marriage to Eva Smouse April 13, 1949, at the home of the Rev. Marlin Bottinger in Smithfield. He is survived by his wife at home and three sons; Jeffrey L. Garber, and his wife, Carla, of Newtown; Harold S. Garber of Huntingdon; and Donald C. Garber, and his wife, Cheryl, of Tabernacle, N.J. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Melanie Evert, Danielle Garber, Jeffrey Garber, Christopher Garber and Adam Garber; and four great-grandchildren; Kirstyn Evert, Matthew Evert, Andrew Evert and Caroline Evert. Two brothers and three sisters survive: Aaron S. Garber of Orbisonia, Eugene Garber of Huntingdon, Kathryn Goodman of Alexandria, Donna Heck of Huntingdon and June Leonard of Huntingdon. He is also survived by his step-mother, Anna Garber Bowser of Huntingdon. He was preceded in death by a daughtrer, Susan J. Garber; a son, Herbert A. Garber Jr.; six brothers; John, Harry, Charles, Warren, Harold and Wilbert Garber; and one sister; Virginia Garber. Mr. Garber was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of Mapleton American Legion Post No. 322 and a life member of the United Commercial Travelers. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as a corporal in the United States Air Force with the 5024th Squadron. He was first employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a welder at the Sam Rae Shops in Hollidaysburg. He was then employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as an inspector. He also worked as an inspector for the Department of Environmental Resources, later returning to PennDOT and retiring from there in 1991. Mr. Garber enjoyed fishing, tinkering with cars and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Robert E. BERGANTZ, 84, of 7344 River Road, Conestoga, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 26, 2002, at Lancaster General Hospital, following a brief illness. Born in State College, she was the daughter of Maurice and Mary (Pircklemyer) Klinger, both deceased. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Bergantz Aug. 26, 1937. She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Thomas W. (Carlo L.) Fish and Mrs. Paul (Roberta J.O.) Dochat, both of Strasburg; Mrs. Hugh (Sue A.) Cole of Asheville, N.C., and Mrs. Thomas L. (Jane A.) Benton of New Providence, as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Clair Klinger of Groveland, Fla. She was preceded in death by a brother, M. Elliot Klinger. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Bergantz worked at the former Hamilton Watch Co. and the former RCA Corp. early in her life. Robert N. KELLY, 76, of R.R. 4, Box 183, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, died at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Kelly had been in good health until November 2003. Born June 17, 1927, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Oliver and Mildred (Bowman) Kelly. He was united in marriage to Ruth M. Morningstar, Dec. 22, 1947, in Huntingdon. He is survived by his wife at home; one daughter, Carol Cassatt, and her husband, Walter, of Orbisonia; two sons, Ron L. Kelly, and his wife, Phyllis, of Huntingdon, R.R. 4, and Barry N. Kelly, and his wife, Bonita, of Huntingdon, R.R. 3; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by an aunt, Hazel Ruby of Mapleton. Four Brothers preceded him in death; Rollin Kelly, Lewis Kelly, Ned Kelly and Russell Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. He attended Mount Union High School. He was a United States Army Field artillery veteran, having served from 1945-1947. He was employed by Martin H. Heine Petroleum and Griffith Oil, Huntingdon, as a furnace technician, retiring in 1989 after 24 years of service. John Phillip GRADWELL, 30, of Huntingdon, went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Feb. 27, 2004, at his residence. Born Nov. 23, 1973, at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C., he was the son of John Thomas and Ruth (Heffner) Gradwell who survive at the family home, Huntingdon. He is survived by his twin brother Michael Emory Gradwell, and his wife, Christina, of Alameda, Calif.; a brother, Troy Harrison Gradwell, and his wife, Neysa, of Gray Court, S.C.; twin brother and sister, Patrick Aaron Gradwell, and his wife Cindy, of Raleigh, N.C., and Pamela Ruth Banks, and her husband, Bruce, of Huntingdon; and his grandparents, Fred H. and Beulah (Bookwalter) Heffner of Huntingdon. He is also survived by seven nieces and two nephews: Brandi, Sarah and twins, Bruce and Brooke Banks; and Brianna, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, Carley and Joshua Gradwell. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Philip Emory Gradwell and Dorothy (Wilkinson) Dodson. Mr. Gradwell was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Huntingdon. He graduated from Calvary Christian Academy in Huntingdon with the Class of 1991. He obtained a bachelor of arts degree in guidance and counseling from Bob Jones University, greenville, S.C., in 1996. A lifetime resident of Huntingdon, Mr. Gradwell had been a hard worker all his life, beginning work when he was 14 years old. He was most recently self-employed as a professional private counselor for Wellsprings Biblical Counseling, in addition to both owning and operating Lawncare, a Huntingdon-based lawn care business. Previously, he had been a member of the support staff for Keystone Human Services, a therapeutic support counselor for Juniata River Center and the Extended Family Academy in Everett. While attending college in South Carolina, Mr. Gradwell was employed as a warehouse supervisor for Goodie Barn Carpet Warehouse; as a bus person for Cracker Barrel; as a technician for Paulownia Wood Products, a manufacturer of baseball bats; and as a swimming pool installer for a private company. He also served as an assistant program director at Camp Cobeac in Michigan and as a maintenance and groundskeeper at Bob Jones University. During his high school years, he served as a bus person and dishwasher for the former M&M Restaurant and a groundskeeper at Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Huntingdon. Mr. Gradwell enjoyed Christian camping and the outdoors and had always worked toward his goal of starting a Christian camp. He will most be remembered by family and friends as a caring, loving and understanding person. Judith Jill GIFFIN, 71, of 10795 Jill Drive, Huntingdon, (Walker Twp.), died at 5:46 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at her home. She was born Nov. 2, 1932, in New York City, N.Y., the daughter of the late Alexander and Ruth (Bandler) Adler. She was married to Neal H. Giffin March 22, 1998, in Fulton, Md., with the Pastor Rod Ronneberg officiating. Mr. Giffin survives at their home. Also surviving are two daughters and a son; Karen Ruth Lueders, and her husband, Lars, of Columbia, Md.; Randall William Balderson, and his wife, Maribel, of Ellicott City, Md.; and June Anne Sheppard, and her husband, John, of Fernandina Beach, Fla. She is survived by four grandchildren, Angela Brooke, Jenna Jill, Jason and Joshua; and two nephews and a niece, Reid, Steve and Carolyn. She was preceded in death by an infant son, "Champ"; a brother, Lee Adler; and a sister, Carolyn Adler. Mrs. Giffin was a Jewish descendent and attended Shadyside Free Methodist Church, Huntingdon. She was educated in the Washington, D.C. Public schools and had attended Catholic University of Washington, D.C., majoring in music. She was a professional vocalist in her early years with a number of different music companies. She dearly loved music and was also a professional pianist. She had been the credit manager with Tenax Corporation of Baltimore, Md., for eight years before retiring in 1998. Mrs. Giffin had been a resident of Huntingdon County since her marriage in 1998. She was a member of the McConnellstown Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Giffin enjoyed gourmet cooking. Interment will be made in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Twp. Miriam P. "Jim" JUDY, 86, formerly of Graysville, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, in Huntingdon. Born Sept. 19, 1917, in Pennsylvania Furnace, she was the daughter of Ralph and Anna (Deter) Judy. She is survived by a niece and nephew, Lani and Ed Townsend, and many cousins. Her sister, Elizabeth Townsend, preceded her in death in 2000. Ms. Judy was a member of the Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Centre County Postmasters Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries. She was educated in the public schools and graduated from State College Area High School in 1933 and from the Altoona School Commerce in 1935, with a degree in business administration. She also graduated from the Public Services Institute in both civil and criminal law and from the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries correspondence school, Pittsburgh. She was employed by the United Postal Service from 1953 until September 1985, retiring as Postmaster of the Pennsylvania Furnace Post Office. She served in the office of the Justice of the Peace in Franklin Twp., from 1964 until 1970. She was appointed a notary public in 1971 and served until 2001. She was treasurer of the Graysville Cemetery Association from 1971 until 2001. Funeral services will be held at Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church March 7. Interment will follow in Graysville Cemetery. Gladys Geraldine (Wright) PETERS, 82, of Saxton, died Feb. 27, 2004, at the Morrison Cove Home, Martinsburg. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harry Peters; four children: Gary of Saxton, Ernie of Mount Joy, Sandy Davis of Huntingdon and Gerry Lemley of York; two sisters, Grace Grace of Bethesda, Md., and Wanda Weaver of Wiilloughby, Ohio. She also leaves seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Peters was an active member of the Saxton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Mary Kathryn (Rorer) DRAKE, 85, Mount Union, died Feb. 27, 2004, at Altoona Hospital, Altoona, following a serious illness. Born March 27, 1918, in Shirley Twp., Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Maude (Harper) Rorer. She was united in marriage to Floyd A. "Ducky" Drake Feb. 5, 1941, in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Drake preceded her in death April 29, 1982. She is survived by one son, Randall V. "Randy" Drake, and his wife, Diann, of Carlisle; one daughter, Suzanna White, and her husband, Eugene, of Mount Union; three grandchildren: Scott Rand, Allison Graves and Katrina Best; and seven great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by the following siblings: Verna Hileman, Garth Rorer, Gladys Rorer, Frank Rorer and Carolyn Horne. Mrs. Drake was a member of the Mount Nebo EUB Church, Shirleysburg, until its closing, when she joined the Allenport United Methodist Church, where in her earlier years she served as church pianist, Sunday School teacher, summer Bible School instructor and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a 1935 graduate of Mount Union High School. For over 30 years, she was employed at the L. Grief Bros. Manufacturing plant in Mount Union, which later became Genesco Corp. at Mount Union. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. Mary (Banks) Barger FLEMING, 97, of Kistler, Mount Union, died Feb. 28, 2004, at Huntingdon Manor, Huntingdon. She had been in failing health. Born June 14, 1906, in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Knepp) Banks. She was first married to James Arthur Barger March 30, 1926. Mr. Barger preceded her in death Sept. 28, 1938. She was united in marriage to Ira Lloyd Fleming Sept. 10, 1955, in Winchester, Va. Mr. Fleming preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1990. She is survived by two daughters, Irene Pandolfino of St. Augustine, Fla., and Evelyn Henry of Kistler, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters survive, Geraldine Crum and Augusta Paulvir, both of Mount Union. She was preceded in death by by a son, Robert Barger, and a daughter, Louise Kosack and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Fleming attended New Life Fellowship Church, Mount Union. She was formerly a member of the Atkinson Mills Senior Citizens. She retired from L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing, Mount Union. Richard L. JORDAN, 57, of Mount Union, died unexpectedly Feb. 28, 2004, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born Feb. 13, 1947, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Curtis L. and Emma E. (McCartney) Jordan. He is survived by a sister, Candy N. Jordan of Cedar Crest, Mount Union, and a half-brother, Billy Boyer of Boaz, Ala. He is also survived by Diana P. (Miller) Jordan, to whom he was formerly married, Feb. 16, 1993, and a stepdaughter, Marcia L. Miller, both of Rockhill Furnace. He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Harold Boyer. Mr. Jordan was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1965 - 1966. He had worked in electronic and television repair. He was a ham radio operator and held an amateur extra class license. He was a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League. Mr. Jordan was an avid photographer, enjoyed using flight simulators on the computer and was very interested in the study of pharmacy. Funeral services will be held March 2, at the Robert D. WEAVER, of Hesston, Penn Twp., Huntingdon County, died Feb. 28, 2004. She is survived by one brother, Ralph K. Weaver of Hesston. Miss Weaver was a retired executive secretary for the Pennsylvania Game Commission. Arrangements are under the direction of the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon. Jack HUSTON, 70, of Robertsdale, died Feb. 29, 2004, at his residence, following an extended illness. Born Feb. 8, 1934, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Dell Clifford and Blanche Huston. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Esther (McMullen) Huston; one son, John Huston of Hyndman; four daughters: Janet Poore of Anderson, S.C., Cynthia Jenkins of Hollidaysburg, Brenda Fortna of Allentown and Mary Huston Berry of Dover, Del.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters survive: Donna Cheslock of Orlando, Fla., and Frances Stewart of Melbourne Beach, Fla. He was preceded in death by one grandson. Mr. Huston retired from the Operating Engineers after 40 years. During his life, he enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, carpentry, fishing, friends and family. CORBIN, 68, of Huntingdon, died Feb. 29, 2004, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, following an extended illness. Born Jan. 29, 1936, in Ardenheim, he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Kathryn M. (Pinizzotto) Corbin. He was formerly married to Mary Lou Ciampa of Huntingdon. He is survived by one son, Wade T. Corbin of Huntingdon. He is survived by two sisters: Sally A. (Corbin) States, and her husband, Jerry, of Smithfield Twp., and Kathryn (Corbin) Itinger, and husband, Jerome, of State College. He is also survived by four special children in his life: Payton Alexa Casner, Erin Kelly States and Doug and Laura Shope. Mr. Corbin was a member of Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon. He was a member of the former Huntingdon Area Jaycees and a past member of the Huntingdon Area School Board and Huntingdon Borough Council; he served as a former Boy Scout Troop 28 leader, former Pee Wee Football coach, Huntingdon Little League Baseball coach and Farm League Basketball coach; and he was a volunteer for the Huntingdon Football Booster Club, the Huntingdon Young Republican Party and various other organizations in the Huntingdon area. He was educated in Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon high School with the Class of 1954. He served in the United states Army National Guard. Mr. Corbin was earlier employed by PennDOT with the maintenance department. He was a salesman at Huston Ford and Rog Garner Chevrolet, where he retired in 2000. He later worked for the Huntingdon Country Club where he was a former manager. Mr. Corbin was an avid golfer, great dancer and was devoted to supporting his son's goals and aspirations. A memorial service will be held March 3, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, Huntingdon. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Patricia LABUDA, formerly of Mount Union, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 29, 2004, in Petersburg, Va. Born April 17, 1943, in Robertsdale, she was the daughter of the late Ted and Betty Leabhart. She is survived by four daughters, nine grandchildren, one great-grandson and three brothers. She was preceded in death by one son. Ms. LaBuda was a member of the Sons of Italy. Services were held March 5 in Maryland. Jenny B. FESSLER, 80, of Lititz, formerly of East Earl, died Feb. 29, 2004, at Landis Homes Retirement Community. She was under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. Born in St. Peter's Village, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (McElroy) Bedi. Her husband, Walter R. Fessler, a native of Huntingdon County, preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by two daughters, Judith Donnelly of Lancaster and Deborah Patterson, and her husband, David, of Terre Hill; three sons, David Fessler, and his wife, Reva, of Houston, Texas, the Rev. Daniel Fessler, and his wife, Kathy, of Williamstown, N.J., and James Fessler, and his wife, Judy, of Laurel, Md.; and five grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers survive: Mary Lou Sellers of Pottstown, Eva Duncan of Ripley, Miss., June Crowe of Memphis, Tenn., William Bedi of Lititz and Robert Bedi of Elverson. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Glenn Fessler; two sisters, Susan Witmer and Anne Graffius; and two brothers, Joseph Bedi and Steve Bedi. Mrs. Fessler was a member of Grace Full Gospel Fellowship in New Holland, where she had served as a pianist and bookkeeper. She has been the bookkeeper for the former Fessler's Grocery Store in East Earl and also served as a den mother for the Boy Scout Program in East Earl for a number of years. An avid gardener, Mrs. Fessler also traveled to a number of places. She enjoyed listening and participating in music, especially southern gospel. A graveside service will be held at St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Knauertown. Franklin M. CRUMMITT, 83, of Huntingdon, and formerly of Frederick, Md., died Feb. 29, 2004, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Born April 28, 1920, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late William and Bertie (Phelps) Crummitt. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Fisher) Crummitt, at home; one stepdaughter, Deborah Shingler, and her husband, Samuel, of Huntingdon; and two grandchildren, Gary and Jason Shingler, both of Huntingdon. A sister, Frances Fox of Frederick, Md., survives, as well as seven nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Stanley and Vernon Crummitt. Mr. Crummitt was of the Protestant faith. He was a life member of the John R. Webb Post No. 3285 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Frederick, Md., and a member of the Frank P. Hommon Post No. 24, American Legion, Huntingdon. He attended public schools in Frederick, Md. During world War II, Mr. Crummitt served in the United States Army with Company A. 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, from 1942 - 1945. He was a self-employed mason in Maryland for 50 years. "Betty" STAJE, 85, formerly of Williamsport, went to be with the Lord Feb. 29, 2004, at the Williamsport Home where she had been residing since January 2003. Born Jan. 18, 1919, in Peckville, Lackawanna County, she was the daughter of the late Hayden and Pearl (Davis) Powell. She and her husband, John C. Staje Sr., celebrated 62 years of marriage Aug. 2, 2003. She is survived by her husband; a son, CLM John C. Staje Jr., and his wife, Kathy, of Williamsport; a daughter, Carole D. Heilig, and her husband, Charles, of Huntingdon; five grandchildren: Cady Kyle, and her husband, Keith, and Cass Stapleton, and her husband, Michael, all of Huntingdon; Cailin Heilig of Philadelphia; Erin Beirne of Williamsport; and Lance Cpl. Ryan Beirne, USMC, of Camp LeJeune, S.C.; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Kay "Ellie" Kyle of Huntingdon. Two brothers survive, Merlyn Hughes of Wilkes-Barre Twp. and Hugh Hughes Jr. of Alamogordo, N.M., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Hugh G. Hughes, and three sisters: Florence Solt, Verna Reilly and Margaret "Peggy" Meler. Mrs. Staje was a member of Central Baptist Church, Williamsport, where she had actively served on the Diaconate, in the Primary Education Department and had served as church historian. She was also a member of American Baptist Women and took an active interest in the Northumberland Baptist Association. She was a 1936 graduate of GAR High School in Wilkes-Barree. She had worked at the Franklin Hosiery Mill, L.L. Stearns & Sons, Sears & Roebuck Inc. and retired from Rea and Derrick Drug. Mrs. Staje was very dedicated to her family, her church and she loved to knit, crochet and sew. She enjoyed her membership in the Duboistown Garden Club and took an avid interest in her Welsh heritage. There will be a service conducted by the Rev. Roy W. Johnsen, her pastor, on March 4, at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, Williamsport. Interment will be made in green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
