"Joe" Bailey, 66, of North Market Street, McVeytown, died at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown. Born Jan. 15, 1940, in McVeytown, he was a son of the late Walter W. and Viola B. (Bilger) Bailey. His wife, Peggy J. (Shoemaker) Bailey, whom he married April 21, 1967, survives. Also surviving are: two daughters, Amy J. Morgan and husband, Lee, of McVeytown; Jody L. Roles and husband, Douglas, of Mount Union; siblings, Kenneth L. Bailey and wife, Linda, of Mattawana; Harold W. "Arp" Bailey, of Malta Home, Granville; Albert Wilson, of Lewistown; Helen M. Carter, of McVeytown; two sisters-in-law, Betty Bailey, of McVeytown, Barbara Bailey, of Friendly, W.Va.; and three grandsons, Adam L. Morgan, Clay M. Morgan and Hunter G. Roles. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel L. Bailey, Paul "Speed" Bailey; two infant sisters, Thelma and Sara Bailey; and twin grandsons, Joshua L. and Jason S. Morgan. He was employed as a truck driver for several area trucking companies, retiring in 2004. An avid NASCAR and Steelers fan, he also enjoyed camping. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Newton Hamilton Brethren in Christ Church, 2777 Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, with the Rev. Samuel King officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown. William R. McMULLEN, 64, formerly of Shade Gap, died at 9:14 am. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital, Bedford. Born June 1, 1941, he was a son of Margaret (Zitch) McMullen of Doylesburg and the late Jimison McMullen. Mr. McMullen is also survived by two sons and two daughters; William R. McMullen Jr. and Diane Sullivan, both of Mount Union; James McMullen, Huntingdon; and Lori McMullen, Lewistown; and eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by five brothers and five sisters: Mary Ansell, Mapleton; James McMullen, Mount Union; John McMullen, Huntingdon; Charles McMullen, Buck Run; Larry McMullen, Spring Run; Marvin McMullen, Pennsylvania; Joyce Middaugh, Doylesburg; Ellen Hockenberry, East Waterford; Dorisetta Hockenberry, Spring Run; and Pat Beckenbaugh. Chambersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Carol S. SMITH, 63, of Smithfield, Fayette County, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown. Born Nov. 23, 1942, in Charleston, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Leola (Varner) Gildea. She was united in marriage to the Rev. Archie L. Smith, in Winchester, Va. The Rev. Smith survives at home. Mrs. Smith is also survived by four children; Gary Carl and wife, Brenda, Hollidaysburg; Don Carl and wife, Angela, Wilmington, NC.; Kelly Smith and wife, Bobby, Salisbury; and Nancy Lafferty and husband, James, Duncansville; and 11 grandchildren, Jamie, Jimmy, Skylar, Jessa, Hahli, Helena, Alexis, Dylan, Blaine, Jonah and Thomas; and one great-grandson, Trenton. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother, Nancy, Jean, Bridget and Maurice. Mrs. Smith was a member of the High House Church of God, Smithfield, Fayette County, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and president of the ladies ministries. She was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She worked as a nurses aid until her retirement. Mrs. Smith enjoyed serving the Lord and her church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Long-Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church St., Saxton, with the Rev. G. Dayton Sines officiating. Interment will be made in the Dudley Protestant Cemetery. Larry W. "Hugan" HEATH, 63. of Wood (P0. Box 37) died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital, Everett. He was born Nov. 28, 1942, in Broad Top City, the son of the late Victor and Margie (Swope) Heath. He was married to Regina Long in 1967 in Maryland. Mrs. Heath survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sally Creswell of Wood and Terry Eltman of Robertsdale, and a son, Walter Heath of Wood. There are seven grandchildren. The following siblings survive; Sally Sayedsuliemen of Las Cruces, N.M.; Sydney Heath of Waterfall; Linda Luther and Victor Heath, both of Saxton; and Genevieve Mervin and Jim Heath, both of Ohio. One son, Larry "Bub" Heath, preceded him in death. Mr. Heath was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Broad Top, the Saxton Sportsmen’s Association, Saxton Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Broad Top Eagles Club. His last employment was as a laborer for Penn Lines. There will he no services. Interment will be made in the Broad Top City IOOF Cemetery. Michael A. MADILIA Sr., 57, of 205 South Division St., Mount Union, died at 2:15 am. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at his home, following a lengthy illness. Born June 21, 1948. in Mount Union, he was a son of Tony A. Madilia Jr. of Mount Union and the late Wilda (Maskulyak) Madilia. He also spent part of his youth in the home of Verna Heaster of Mount Union and the late Jay Heaster. He was formerly married to the former Kathy Price. Mrs. Madilia survives in Altoona. He is survived by his companion, Candy Jordan. Mr. Madilia is also survived by seven children: Wilda J. Madilia and companion, Dee A. Shirley, Watsontown; Michael A. Madilia Jr., Altoona; Angela M. Madilia, Mount Union; Marie L. Bickel and husband, Samuel R., Mapleton; and Michaela M. Madilia, Kady Pearl Madilia and David Babcock, all at home; and three grandchildren, Anthony R. Madilia, Riley F. Bickel and Trapper L. Bickel. He is also survived by a brother and sister, Frank A. Madilia and wife, Gloria M., Mapleton; and Concetta "Connie" Riley, Newton Hamilton. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony A. Madilia III and John C. Madilia. Mr. Madilia was a member of Saint Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Mount Union. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army, having served in Germany. Mr. Madilia was a member of the Pennsylvania Auto Dealers Association, the Pennsylvania Association of Notaries and the Mount Union American Legion. He was a 1967 graduate of Mount Union High School. For the past 28 years, he owned and operated, along with his father, Madilia Auto Sales, Mount Union, where he also operated a wrecker service. He was previously employed with Mack Truck, Harrisburg, and also drove truck for Noerr Motor Freight. Mr. Madilia loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man who worked hard his entire life, from pumping gas at the age of 6 to attempting car sales from his bed, while struggling with illness. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Saint Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Mount Union, with Father Leo Arnone officiating. Committal will be made in the Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg, RR 1. Millie WILSON, 79, formerly of Shirleysburg, R.R. 1, died at 9:25 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. She was born July 1, 1926, in Melitopol, Ukraine, the daughter of the late Dimitri and Vera (Woznuk) Levchenko. She was married to William B. Wilson Oct. 6, 1946, at Kassel, Germany. Mr. Wilson preceded her in death Nov. 23, 1992. Surviving are two sons, Robert W. Wilson and his wife, Cathy, of Emmitsburg. Md., and Galen B. Wilson and his wife, Linda, of Altoona. There are six grandchildren; Julie Immler, Betty Haber, William Wilson, Galen Wilson, Gregory Wilson and Andrea Bowders; and two great-grandchildren, Dalton Haber and Austin Haber. A daughter, Vera S. Bowders, preceded her in death. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Aughwick-Germany Valley Church of the Brethren, Shirleysburg, R.R., where she served as a deaconess. She was a member of the Bricktown Senior Citizens. Along with being a homemaker, Mrs. Wilson was employed at L. Greif Brothers Manufacturing in Mount Union for a number of years and was a cook at the Shirley Home for the Aged in Shirleysburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. Ernest Dell officiating. Freida Grace (Hardeman) GENTRY, 83, a resident of The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, and formerly of State College, died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at 4:30 p.m., at The Oaks at Westminster Woods. Born in Leavenworth, Kan., on Sept. 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lyman L. Hardeman and Grace (Shriver) Hardeman. She was married to Robert F. Gentry, Ph.D., DVM, Professor Emeritus in Poultry Disease Research at Penn State University, on Dec. 24, 1942, in Topeka, Kan. Dr. Gentry preceded her in death on July 22, 1992. Surviving are two sons, Steven D. Gentry and his wife, CarolAnn M. (Long) Gentry, of State College and Robert F. Gentry Jr. and his wife, Alycia Chambers Gentry, of Pennsylvania Furnace; three grandchildren, Robert Peck and his wife, Jolyn (Topham), of Plano, Texas, Rachel Gentry, of Tucson, Ariz. and James F. Gentry and his wife, Natalie (Sojka), of Los Angeles, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Samuel, Amanda, David, Thomas and Nicholas Peck, all of Plano, Texas; one sister, Virginia Blackley, of Columbia, Mo. and one brother, John Hardeman and his wife, Evelyn, of Parsons, Kan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon E. Walker, on Aug. 21, 1999. She was of the Christian Faith. Mrs. Gentry was a 1940 graduate of Leavenworth High School in Leavenworth, Kan., and attended the Lindenwood Women's College in Kansas. She was primarily a homemaker. She was an avid hand crafter and artist, creating various handcrafts, paintings, stained glass work and pottery. She exhibited and sold her oil paintings at the first State College Arts Fest. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mildred Marie LIGHTNER, 95, of The Blair House, Apartment No. 406, 600 Penn St., Huntingdon, died at 11:15 am. Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at her residence. Born Feb. 28, 1910, in Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late Frederick M. and Odessa (Parks) Lear. She was united in marriage to Robert E. Lightner, Nov. 3, 1934. Mr. Lightner preceded her in death Aug. 11, 1990. Mrs. Lightner is survived by a daughter, Julie Marie Leedy, Harrisburg. She is also survived by a sister, Iva Curry, Altoona: and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. Mrs. Lightner was a member of the Protestant faith, She was a member of the American Bible Society and the 700 Club. She was a domestic in the Harrisburg area and also worked at the Susquehanna Silk Mill, Huntingdon, and the Viscose Plant, Lewistown. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Steven E. Burns officiating. Interment witl be made in the Mooresville Cemetery, Petersburg, R.R. 1. Catherine Pearl (McIlroy) KARNS, 94, a resident of The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, and formerly of 2210 Brumbaugh Ave., Huntingdon, died at 10:50 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at The Oaks at Westminster Woods. Born Jan. 25, 1912, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Zinn) McIllroy. She was united in marriage to Angus Russel Kams, Oct. 23, 1937, in the Abbey Reformed Church, Huntingdon, by the Rev. Hobart McKeehan. Mr. Karns preceded her in death July 2, 1982. Mrs. Karns is survived by a daughter, Marcelene K. Baker and husband, Gerald O., Henderson Township, Huntingdon, R.R. 4; a grandson, Keith Allen Baker and wife, Colleen (Ramey), Huntingdon; three great-grandchildren, Denise (Baker) Romecki, Calvin; Craig Baker, McConnellstown; and Kelsey Baker, Carmel, Md.; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece and nephew, Glena Josephine Doherty and George McIlroy, both of Florida. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Andrew, Joseph, Millie and Margaret McIlroy. Mrs. Karns was a member of the Abbey Reformed United Church of Christ, Huntingdon, where she was once active in the Women’s Fellowship Class of the church. She was a former American Red Cross Bloodmobile volunteer in Huntingdon for many years, and a former Huntingdon Girl Scout leader. Mrs. Karns attended Huntingdon public schools and was a 1930 graduate of Huntingdon High School. She also graduated from the JC. Blair Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1933. She worked as a private duty registered nurse at the JC. Blair Memorial Hospital and in private homes. An avid gardener, Mrs. Karns enjoyed picnics, reading her Bible and her time spent as a Girl Scout leader. She was a caregiver to her family. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home Inc., 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. Nelson J. Wenner officiating. Interment will be made in the Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Francis L. "Bus" MOORE, 87, of 1011 Mount Vernon Ave., Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, and formerly of Cameron Avenue, Tyrone, died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 7, 2006, at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. Born Feb. 13, 1918, in Tyrone, he was a son of the late Homer and M Margaret (Woomer) Moore. He was united in marriage to the former Margaret F. Halleran. Dec. 16, 1944, in Tyrone. Mrs. Moore survives at their home. Mr. Moore is also survived by three sons and a daughter; James F. Moore, Huntingdon; Patrick M. Moore and Timothy J. Moore, both of Baltimore, Md.; and Colleen M. Neville, Huntingdon; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Kinch, Linglestown. Mr. Moore was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Marine Corps as a supply sergeant with the 1st Marine Division in the South Pacific Theatre. He fought in battles at Guadalcanal, Cape Glouster and at Peleiu. Mr. Moore was a life member of the Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754, Huntingdon, a member of the former Tyrone Gardner Guards, the Marine Corps League and was a former member of Tyrone Borough Council. He retired in 1981 from the Tyrone Borough Treatment Plant, where he served as an operator for 20 years. He was formerly employed at Chicago Rivet, Tyrone, for 10 years. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 am. Friday, Feb. 10, at the Saint Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone, with Father David T. Arseneault and Father Joseph T. Orr officiating. Committal, with full military honors by the Ebensburg Marine Corps Reserve, will be made in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Walter H. ICKES, 73, of 301 Ogle St., Mansion Apartments, Apartment No. 11, Ebensburg, and formerly of Shippensburg and Huntingdon, died at 10:08 am. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Aug. 13, 1932, in Middlesex. N.J., he was a son of the late Walter H. Sr. and Gladys (Guyette) Ickes. He was united in marriage to the former Margaret R. Rhodes, in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Ickes preceded him in death, March 23, 2003. Mr. Ickes is survived by four daughters and a son; Sharon L. Woodal, Saxton; Kandis K. Misner, Ebensburg; Michele D. Wright, Shippensburg; Kristin S. Cardene, Camp Hill; and Anthony W. Woodal, San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren and four great-grand-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Hazel Carter of Louisiana and Audrey Failor of Carlisle. He was preceded in death by three sisters; Cora Williams, Elva Blanchard and infant Zira Ickes. Mr. Ickes attended public schools in Middlesex, N.J. and air conditioning and refrigeration school in Louisiana. During his time in Huntingdon, he was self-employed and operated Walt’s Refrigeration Service. Mr. Ickes enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and trips to Atlantic City and Charles Town with his friends. He drove dirt track stock cars at local race tracks in his youth. A memorial service will be held at the John B. Brown Funeral Home Inc., 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, with the Rev. Fred E. Hickok officiating. Interment will be made in the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon. Mary A. STAPLETON, 96, a resident of The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006. Born Feb. 6, 1910, in Saxton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Maude (Ritchey) Wyles. She was united in marriage to Raymond Stapleton, Sept. 29, 1928, in Cumberland, Md. Mr. Stapleton preceded her in death March 21, 2000. Mrs. Stapleton is survived by four children; Charles Stapleton and wife, Pauline (Esposti), and Judy Burket and husband. Jerry, all of Saxton; Sara Miller, Duncansville; and Samuel "Ted" Stapleton and wife, Audrey (Himes), Enola; and 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother; Ruth Manspeaker, Martha Hinish, Kathryn Morrison Reighard, Betty Reighard and Joseph Wyles. Mrs. Stapleton was a lifelong member of Raven Run Church of the Brethren, Saxton, where she had served as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher and was involved in the women’s fellowship. She was a 1928 graduate of Saxton High School. Mrs. Stapleton enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at the Raven Run Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Dan Hammel officiating. Interment will be made in the Grandview Cemetery. Robert George CUTSHALL, 82, of Box 306, Oneida Township, Huntingdon, R.R. 4, died at 11:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital campus, following a brief illness. Born July 28, 1923, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Sewell Ernest and Maude (Stever) Cutshall. He was united in marriage to the former Mary Stultz, Nov. 8, 1944, in the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. Mrs. Cutshall preceded him in death Nov. 2, 1990. He is survived by his loving companion, Carol Clymer, Huntingdon. Mr. Cutshall is survived by two children, Steven R. Cutshall and wife, Mary Kay (Dunlap). Hol]idaysburg; and Christine E. (Cutshall) Smith and husband, Gregory, Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Matthew Cutshall and wife, Melissa (Edwards), Duncansville; and Jennifer Cutshall, Cresson; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Meghan Cutshall, Duncansville. He was preceded in death by a brother, John S. Cutshall, whose home was in Denver. Col. Mr. Cutshall was a member of the First Regular Baptist Church, Huntingdon. where he served in many capacities over the years, including Sunday school teacher and church deacon. He served in a United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II and was later very active in organizing ‘A’ Company reunions. Mr. Cutshall served as mayor of Huntingdon Borough from 1962-1965. He volunteered with the American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels and the Home Nursing Agency Hospice program. He attended Huntingdon public schools and was a 1941 graduate of Huntingdon High School. Mr. Cutshall retired in 1985 from Penelec, Johnstown. with over 25 years of service as the director of industry and employee education. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the First Regular Baptist Church, Sixth and Mifflin streets, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Salmons officiating. Melvin Walter "Tom" CUTSHALL, 67, of Three Springs, R.R., died at 9:50 am, Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at his home in Clay Township. Born Dec. 20, 1938, in Springfield Township, he was a son of the late Winferd and Mary Jane (McConaughey) Cutshall. Mr. Cutshall is survived by two sons and three daughters; Cindy McMullen, Mount Union; Timothy Cutshall, Orbisonia; Vincent Earl Cutshall, Three Springs; Angela F. Hammond, Newburg; and Tiffani Keister, Etters; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers and a sister; Charles Cutshall, Benjamin Cutshall and Duane Cutshall, all of Three Springs; and Lillian Benson, McVeytown, R.R. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Tina Marie Keister; and a sister, Viola Johnson. Mr. Cutshall attended Fairview Evangelical Church, Three Springs, R.R, He was a life member of "Handyman" and was a social member of several local VFW posts. Mr. Cutshall was a professional welder and logger. He had worked at Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union; and Dash Coal Company and Tri-County Landfill, both of the Broad Top area. He was also a farmer. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. William Hughes officiating. Interment will be made in the Fairview Cemetery, Three Springs, R.R. Joseph W. SKVARKA Jr., 58, of 1553 Pin Oak Drive, Chambersburg, died Saturday, Feb. 11. 2006, at home. Born Aug. 20, 1947, in Robertsdale, he was a son of the late Joseph W. Sr. and Dorothy Thomas Skvarka. He was united in marriage to the former Elsie M. Gordon Dec. 17, 1995. Mrs. Skvarka survives at home. Mr. Skvarka is also survived by two children, Kristian S. Skvarka and wife, Annelies; and Nicole D. Skvarka-Ricker and husband, Aaron, all of Chambersburg; a stepdaughter, Lori Wiles and husband, Terry, Gardners; four grandchildren, Gabrielle and Aaron Skvarka, Zoe Jenson and Maxwell Ricker, all of Chambersburg; two stepgrandchildren, Richard Keith Ross Jr., Gardners; and Amber Nicole Ross, Carlisle; and a step great-grandson, Terrence Austin Ross, Carlisle. He is also survived by five siblings; Helen Foreman, Chambersburg; Richard Skvarka and wife, Sue, Carlisle; Marilyn Weist and husband, Richard, Breezewood; Carolyn Matthews and husband, Thomas, Mill Creek; and Theresa Minnich and husband, Richard, Dudley: and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Mort. Mr. Skvarka was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Saint Thomas. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Skvarka was a member of the Detrich-Brechbill Post No. 612 American Legion, Saint Thomas. He was a 1965 graduate of Tussey Mountain HighSchool. Mr. Skvarka had been employed at DeRose Industries and later retired from T.B. Woods Sons, Inc. He was a self-employed carpenter. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, with the Rev. James R. O’Brien officiating. Committal with full military honors will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Peter L. MIGATULSKI, 76, Huntingdon, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 1l, 2006, at his home. Born Feb. 13, 1929, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Peter L. and Anna P (Kasavage) Migatulski. He was united in marriage to the former Betty Jean Smith, June 1953, in Winchester, Va. Mrs. Migatulski preceded him in death May 25, 1987. He is survived by his loving companion, Diane Locke Woodward, Huntingdon. Mr. Migatulski is also survived by two sons, Michael L. Migatulski and wife, Sally, Boiling Springs, and John C. Migatulski and wife, Daneen, Dillsburg; and four grandchildren; Christopher Migatulski, Tyler Gates and Elizabeth and Katie Migatulski. He is also survived by a sister, Eleanor Karpinski, Wilkes-Barre. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Joseph Migatulski. Mr. Migatulski attended Saint Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Mount Union. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1947 until his honorable discharge as a corporal in March 1950, having served on the USS Little Rock. He was a member of several Polish clubs and was a lifetime member of the Frank P Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 976, Huntingdon and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 223, all in Huntingdon. Mr. Migatulski entered the Pennsylvania State Police March 16, 1953, and after having served at several police barracks throughout the state, he retired from the Huntingdon barracks in September 1983 as a sergeant. Equally proud of his service to the state police and the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Migatulski was a man who loved his life and family, especially his grandchildren. He loved polka and enjoyed many bus trips to polka events throughout the country with his wife and later with his companion, Diane. Grant J. LEIGHTY, 91, of 138 East Shirley St., Mount Union, formerly of Fort Myers, Fla., died Saturday morning, Feb. 11, 2006, at his home. Born July 31, 1914, in East Freedom, Blair County, he was a son of the late John and Lydia (Snowberger) Leighty. He was united in marriage to the former Mary M. Henry March 27, 1934, in Hagerstown, Md. Mrs. Leighty preceded him in death Aug. 23, 2000. Mr. Leighty is survived by a a brother and sister, Belva Wineland, Martinsburg; and Robert Leighty, California. He was preceded in death by a brother and six sisters; Clyde Leighty, Dorothy Leighty, Helen Leighty, Ruth Kunsman, Kathleen Dudley, Arlene Yeager and Bertha Wallace. Mr. Leighty was a lifetime board member of the Bricktown Senior Center, Mount Union. He was a 1933 graduate of Huntingdon High School. Mr. Leighty retired in 1976 from Atlantic Richfield Oil Co., with 30 years of service as an industrial engineer doing survey and pipeline work. He also taught industrial safety, inspected substations and performed safety checks. Following his retirement, he worked for 10 years as the manager of a Sears Roebuck Hardware Store, as a courier for Sun Trust and as a greeter at Wal-Mart, all of Fort Myers, Fla. Prior to his residency time in Florida, he owned and operated the uptown Sinclair gas station in Mount Union, selling the station in 1954. Charles Hershel JOHNSON III, 60, of Box 328A, Huntingdon, R.R. 4, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006, at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 522 in Cromwell Township. Born July 27, 1945, in Chambersburg, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Fay (Appleby) Johnson. He was united in marriage to the former Carol D. Guyer, April 28, 1974, at Wesley Chapel Church. Mrs. Johnson survives at home. Mr. Johnson is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Greer Gutshall and husband, David, and Kim Mealey and husband, Robert, all of Maryland; and Cloyd Johnson, Cheyenne, Wyo. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965-1969, with two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Johnson was a 1964 graduate of Southern Huntingdon County High School. He worked for a short time at the shipyards in Philadelphia following his military service and returned to Huntingdon in 1970. He began his career as a corrections officer at the State Correctional Institution, Huntingdon, retiring in December 1995 with 25 years of service. He enjoyed his job as a security guard at Lake Raystown Resort this past summer. Mr. Johnson read his Bible every day and was an avid hunter, fisherman and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a Civil War buff and made numerous trips to the Gettysburg battlefields. He also enjoyed spending time with his beloved Cocker Spaniel, Katie. Born Jan. 6, 1922, in Newport, Perry County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond L. and Verna C. (Hetrick) Horting. She was united in marriage to Thomas Calvin Kyle, March 21, 1946, in Huntingdon. Born May 17, 1917, in Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late John and Sophia (Szczerba) Szczerba. She was formerly united in marriage to Paul Bodnar, who preceded her in death June 29, 1993. Mrs. Bodnar is survived by a daughter, Patricia R. Barchuk, Mechanicsburg, who was reared by the late Michael and Kitty Yantz, and Patricia’s husband, John; three grandchildren, Michael Barchuk, Michele Tiday and Lisa Tiday, all of Mechanicsburg; and five great-grandchildren, Lily and Savannah Tiday and Christian, Mason and Jordan Tiday, all of Mechanicsburg. She found great enjoyment in visiting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was watching television at home. (Graham) Wilson, 88, a resident of the Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, died Feb. 15, 2006, at the Oaks at Westminster Woods. She was married to Simon A. Wilson, who preceded her in death in 1994. She was a member of the McAlevys Fort Presbyterian Church, McAlevys Fort. She enjoyed her family, children, walking and gardening. She was a caring mother and grandmother. James Howard TAYLOR, 40, of 6207 Raystown Road, Hopewell, Bedford County, died at 7:26 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, as a result of an ATV and motor vehicle accident on Route 26 near Hopewell. Born Feb. 4, 1966, in Bedford, he was a son of Sandra Louise (Foster) Taylor who survives in Riddlesburg and the late James Luther Taylor. He married the former Teresa Hinson Feb. 14, 1991, at Six Mile Run. She survives at their home. Also surviving at home are children, James Wirth, Brandon Taylor, Faith Taylor, Amanda Taylor and Dakota Taylor. Three sisters survive; Tonya Walker and her husband, Tom, of North Pole, Alaska; Christine Park and her husband, Dave, of Riddlesburg; and Christal Taylor of Defiance. His mother-in-law, Shirley Kiser Foor and her husband, Roger, of Bedford, and the following brothers-in-law survive; Fred Z. Hinson Jr. and his wife, Christy, of Osterburg; Patrick Hinson and his wife, Michelle, of New Paris; and Tanner Foor and Cody Foor, both of Bedford. He was a graduate of the GED program after attending Tussey Mountain schools. He was employed as an asbestos worker for Peneco in State College. Mr. Taylor enjoyed all-terrain vehicles, going four-wheeling and restoring cars, especially Firebirds. He also enjoyed NASCAR, car racing, camping, fishing and hunting. STAPLETON Sr., 65, of 318 Church St., Huntingdon, died at 4:54 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at Johnstown Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. Born March 8, 1940, in Huntingdon, he was the son of the late Norman Sr. and Esther (Snook) Stapleton. He was married to Dorothy A. Gray. His wife survives at their home. A son, Roy D. Stapleton Jr. of Morrisdale, and a daughter, E. J. Stapleton and her companion, Denny Campbell, of Alexandria survive. There are seven stepchildren; 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Stapleton was a member of the Home Association of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion in Huntingdon. He was employed at U.S. Sports in Huntingdon and Mount Union for 17 years and was also employed at FCI Electronics in Mount Union. "Butch" MATEER, 62, of Peach Drive, Lititz, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, from complications due to diabetes. Born in York, he was the son of Ruth Benson Mateer of Mechanicsburg and the late Charles F. Mateer, who died in 2003. He was married to Joyce A. Weakland, July 17, 1965. Mrs. Mateer survives at their home. Surviving are a brother, Allison F. Mateer and his wife, Katherine, of Millersville; and two sisters, Donna J. Cowan and her husband, Patrick, of Mount Joy, and Sandra F. Litwin and her husband, Robertl, of York Springs. A son, Michael F. Mateer, preceded him in death. Mr. Mateer was a nephew of Wayne Mateer of Smithfield Township and was a former childhood resident of the Hawn’s Bridge area at Raystown Dam. Mr. Mateer was a customer service manager at Lebanon Seaboard, Greenview Division. He served for six years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed science fiction movies and working outdoors. He was a former member of the Chestnut Springs Hunting Club in Brady Township. He will be remembered for his humor and was an inspiration to others despite his diabetes. He was united in marriage to the former Joanna Henry, 43 years ago. Mrs. Hicks survives at home. Mr. Hicks is also survived by two sons and a daughter, Donald Hicks, McSherrystown; Doug Knisley, Orlando, Fla.; Michelle Stoner, Gettysburg; and two grandchildren, Joshua Stoner and Kanyon Hicks. She had been in failing health. Born April 3, 1921, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Agnes Ann (Kuchar) Remek. She was united in marriage to Joseph J. Suchanec June 22, 1946, in the Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Mount Union. Mr. Suchanec preceded her in death April 2, 1994. Mrs. Suchanec is survived by four children; Joseph A. Suchanec and wife, Vicki, Kistler, Mount Union; John Suchanec and wife, Barbara, Elizabethtown; Monica Rankin and husband, Robert, Ridley Park; and Mark Suchanec and wife, Daphne, State College; and nine grandchildren; Jennifer (Suchanec) Young, Stefan Suchanec, Kate Suchanec, Lynn Maxim, Lori Lahoda, Christopher Rankin, Eric Suchanec, Matthew Suchanec and Charlie Suchanec. Mrs. Suchanee was a devoted and active member of the Saint Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Mount Union, where she sang in the church choir and taught CCD for a number of years. She was also a charter member and former Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America. Very much involved in civic and community affairs, she was a member of the former Mount Union Civic Club and participated in bloodmobiles with the American Red Cross. Mrs. Suchanec attended Mount Union High School. She had been employed for many years with L. Greif Bros. Manufacturing, later known as Genesco, Mount Union. In her retirement, she worked as a crossing guard for the Mount Union Area School District. Mrs. Suchanec will be remembered as a leader in her church community and as an active participant in all church-related activities. Watkins and husband, Jason, Okinawa, Japan: five grandchildren, Bobby, Christy, Mariah, Zackriah and Karaliah; and two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Noah. She is also survived by three sisters and a brother, Beverly Anderson and Sally Andrews, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; Fame Lyke, Rome, NY; and Roger Witchley, Florida. She was preceded in death by a sister and 10 brothers. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Tyrone American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Huntingdon Veteran of Foreign Wars. She also served as past senior regent at the Tyrone Moose Lodge. She attended the Laurel Street High School, Rome, N.Y. A lifelong homemaker, Mrs. Wilson enjoyed camping, shuffleboard, dancing and bowling. She enjoyed volunteering with the Second Mile organization to help children. Interment will be made in the Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. Raymond Joseph TONONI, 81, of 7159 School Lane, Alexandria, died at 9:44 am. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at his residence. Born June 24, 1924, in Wehrum, he was a son of the late Frederick and Angela (Bracci) Tononi. He was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth C. Kepler, Oct. 12, 1946, in Williamsburg, Va. Mrs. Tononi survives at their home. Mr. Tononi is also survived by a son, Raymond H. Tononi Sr. and wife, Pamela, Huntingdon; a grandson, Raymond H. Tononi Jr. and wife, Gail, Huntingdon; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Fred, Joe and Victor Tononi and Ann Dino. Mr. Tononi served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754 and the Frank P. Hommon American Legion Post No. 24, both of Huntingdon; and the Disabled Veterans Association, Johnstown. Mr. Tononi was a 1942 graduate of Ebensburg-Cambria High School. He retired in 1979 after many years of service with the Department of Forestry. He moved to the Juniata Valley from Revloc in 1981. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, but, most importantly, he loved spending time with family and friends. Beverly Jean Bartlebaugh, 76, of State College, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born Sept. 7, 1929, in Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Ora Harpster Beatty. She married Eugene D. Bartlebaugh, who preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1989. Pauline (Whittaker) WAKEFIELD, 92, a resident of The Oaks at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, and formerly of Walker Township, McConnellstown, where she had resided for over 50 years, died at 7:30 am. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She had been in failing health for the past three years. Born Oct. 15, 1913, in Walker Township, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Carrie L. (Robb) Whittaker. She was united in marriage to Chester W. Wakefield, Aug. 8, 1935, in the Methodist parsonage by the Rev. Baughman. Mr. Wakefield preceded her in death April 5, 1999. Mrs. Wakefield is survived by two sons, Richard G. Wakefield and wife, Linda (Damon), Bluffton, S.C., and Stanley C. Mrs. Wakefield was a member of the McConnellstown United Methodist Church, McConnellstown, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and president of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Standing Stone Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Huntingdon, and served as a former Regent from 1991-l993. Mrs. Wakefield attended Walker Township public schools and was a 1930 graduate of Huntingdon High School. She also attended the Walter Reed Army Hospital Nursing School, Washington, D.C., from 1931-1932. She retired in 1978 from Woodcock Valley Elementary School, where she had worked as a secretary and in the cafeteria for more than 30 years. A longtime political activist, Mrs. Wakefield served as a Walker Township Republican Committeewoman for many years. Blair Hospital, Huntingdon. Helen was born on Sept. 25, 1922, in Mount Union, the daughter of the late John and Adelaide (Sims) Shugerts. She was united in marriage to Clair Scott Ramsey. Her husband preceded her in death. Helen is survived by two daughters, Claire Guisewite and husband, Roger, of Aaronsburg and Lola J. Ramsey, of Huntingdon. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Chris Brady, Michele Guisewite, Kim Corl and husband, Rich, and Vicki Sweitzer and husband, Rich. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Hunter and Jarrod Brady, Kaylee, Cassidy and Saige Corl, and Kelsey and Colby Sweitzer. Helen was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. She was owner and operator, along with her husband, of Ramsey Auto Salvage, RR 1, Mt. Union. She was a charter board member and secretary of the Shirley Township General Authority, a member and past president of the Huntingdon Literacy Council, which included her dedication in personal instruction, on a one-on-one basis, to those individuals unable to read. Helen, herself, was an avid reader. She also loved her pets. Helen also enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years. Mrs. Ramsey was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union. BRODE, 99, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home and formerly of 116 Luther Drive, Lewistown, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at the nursing home. Born Dec. 18, 1906, in Burnham, he was a son of the late George E. and Ada (David) Brode. His wife, Rachel A. (Scott) Brode, preceded him in death on Sept. 10, 2003. Ethel M. MASEMORE, 97, a resident of Manor Care Nursing Home, Camp Hill, formerly of Robertsdale, died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at the nursing home. Born May 23, 1908, in Dudley, she was a daughter of the late William and Emma (Mears) Bollinger. She was united in marriage to Wilson Masemore, May 18, 1931. Mr. Masemore preceded her in death March 21, 1962. Mrs. Masemore is survived by two daughters, Donna Black and husband, Elwyn, Ocala, Fla.; and Gloria Fettrow and husband. Interment will be made in the Broad Top City IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City. Donald (Donnie) Ray GIBBS, born Dec. 31, 1945, in Tyler, Texas, passed way on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, in Pennsylvania. He grew up in Tyler and was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. Donnie attended Texas Christian University, where he played football and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He received the Troy V. Post Award for Outstanding Young Texan of the Year while at TCU. He had a short semi-pro and professional football career after college. He was in sales for many years in Texas, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania. He continued to be active in community sports as both a player and referee throughout his life. Donnie was a loving father who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Courtney Gibbs Walters and her husband, Alex, of Grapevine, Texas; daughter, Kimberly Gibbs Jeffrey and husband, John, and son, Travis, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Taylor Ryan Gibbs and son, Trey Scott Gibbs, of Huntingdon; and a brother, Pat Gibbs, of Spring, Texas, along with many extended family and friends. Born June 18, 1934, in Burnt Cabins, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Martha (Horton) Cornelius. He was united in marriage to the former Elaine Runk, 53 years ago on April 19, 1952. Mrs. Cornelius survives at home. Mr. Cornelius is also survived by three children, Melissa Murphy, Bernville; Robin Walraven, Wills Point, Texas; and Thomas Cornelius, Shillington; and eight grandchildren. Alma Susan (Miller) AFRICA, 93, of Erie, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Springhill Suites, Erie. Born July 10,1912, in Broad Top City, she was a daughter of the late Mayberry and Alice (Pressler) Miller. Mrs. Africa is survived by three children, Kay Schoenberger and husband, Lennie, Merritt Island, Fla.; Linda Polito and husband, Jim, Erie; and Jay Africa and wife, Sheri, Hummelstown; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers, Hazel Miller, Don, Guy and Cloyed. Mrs. Africa was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Altoona, where she did much volunteer work. She was employed by Boyer Bros. Candy Co., Altoona, for 26 years as an executive secretary. Mrs. Africa had resided in Erie for the past nine months. Previously, she lived in Florida for five years, after moving from Altoona, where she had resided for 53 years. "Mike" HORTON, 87, of West Tannery Road, Wells Tannery, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at his home. Born Jan. 8, 1919, in Wells Tannery, he was a son of the late Harrison and Esther (Clark) Horton. He was united in marriage to the former Mary M. Figard, July 29, 1939, in Berryville, Va., by the Rev. E.G. Vaughn. Mrs. Horton preceded him in death Jan. 6, 2000. Mr. Horton is survived by two children, Ronald Horton and wife, Sally (McMurtrie), Saxton, and Angela Shaffer and husband, Gary, Everett; four grandchildren, Kimberly Keith and husband, Daniel; Ronny Lynn Beacher and husband, Barry; Scott Horton and Christina Hollobaugh; six great-grandchildren, Kylee Ritchey and husband, Michael; J.D. Keith, Samantha and Derek Beacher and Browning and Landis Horton; and one great-great-granddaughter, Chloe Ritchey. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jacob Keith; a sister, Iva Stafford; and an infant sister. Mr Horton was a member of the Orbisonia American Legion Post No. 588 and the Breezewood VFW Post No. 833. He also served as a Wells Township supervisor for several terms. Mr. Horton retired from Bouch’s Texaco, Breezewood. Active in the Bedford County Baseball League in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, he played catcher for a number of years. Mr. Horton was also an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed many hours in his garden. His philosophy was "giving it away makes friends." Mr. Horton was a member of Pine Grove Methodist Church and recently attended Shennans Valley Brethren in Christ Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a sergeant in the 43rd Division of the United States Army. He received two purple hearts for his service. REED, 69, of Saxton, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born April 21, 1936, in James Creek, he was a son of the late William C. and Mary "Maggie" (Russell) Reed. He was united in marriage to the former Diane S. Reed, Sept. 2, 1961, in the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren. Mrs. Reed survives at home. Mr. Reed is also survived by two daughters, Sherri Whalen and husband, Timothy, Bridgeport, W.Va.; and Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" DeBlase and husband, Joseph, Somerset; and three grandsons, Devon Johns and Levi and Samuel DeBlase. He is also survived by three brothers, Paul Reed and wife, Doris, and Jack Reed and wife, Carolyn, all of Martinsburg; and John Reed and wife, Virginia, James Creek. He was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Reed. Mr. Reed was a member of the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren. He served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Reed was employed by the Saxton First National Bank for 13 years and later the Hollidaysburg Trust Co. for 12 years, holding the position of treasurer and assistant vice president. An avid Pittsburgh Pirate and Steelers fan, he will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Margie Maddox MELTON, daughter of Perry E. and Vera Blake Maddox, died on Feb. 23, 2006, at the age of 83, following a stroke. Margie was born in Knob Noster, Mo., and grew up in the Missouri Ozarks near Highlandville. She had two brothers, Melvin, who died of malaria contracted while serving in the South Pacific, and Bud, who died in 1990. She and Rex Melton married while he was a college student, but before graduation, he was ordered to report for duty with the Air Force. While he served overseas, she lived and worked in Washington, DC. Following the war, they lived in Ann Arbor, Mich., while Rex attended graduate school, and then moved to Mont Alto, when he accepted a teaching position at the Penn State Mont Alto Campus. He later transferred to the Stone Valley Experimental Forest in Huntingdon County, and then to the main campus in State College, where they settled permanently, raising four children, and both working for Penn State University until retirement. Margie spent a number of years as Secretary for the Graduate School of English. Margie was an intensely private person, known for her acerbic wit, her strongly held political opinions, and her unconditional love and support for her family. She was a voracious reader with eclectic interests ranging from biography to mystery. She was a life long student and artist - she completed a still-life and visited the library the day before her stroke. She is survived by a stepsister, Opal Scott; by her husband of 63 years, Rex Melton; by her four children, Dawn and her husband Brian White, Kay and her husband Brad Hoch, Karen and her husband John Margerum, and Rex and his wife Christiana. She has five grandchildren: Lisa White, married to Eric Burkhart, Susan White, married to Drew Stewart, Jonathan Hoch and his wife, Melissa, Emily Hoch, Adam Hoch and a 4 month old great-grandson, Will Stewart. Jeanne SHULTZ, 87, of 512 13th Street, Huntingdon, where she had resided for 40 years, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. Death was unexpected. Born June 2, 1918, in Entriken, she was the daughter of the late Clarence V. and Olive M. (Shultz) Litzenberger. She was united in marriage to Maurice H. Shultz in 1937. He preceded her in death January 10, 1971. Mrs. Shultz is survived by a daughter and three sons; Mary Jane Mater and her husband, Jeff, Alexandria; Phil Shultz and his wife, Pat, Bellefonte; Rodney Shultz, Hollidaysburg; and Don Shultz and his wife, Linda, Alexandria. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Cody Mater, Alexandria; Wendy Shultz, Norristown; Julie Martin, Altoona; and Tricia Griffin, Spring, Texas. A great-grandson also survives. She is also survived by a brother, Don Litzenberger and his wife, Margie, of Huntingdon. Mrs. Shultz was preceded in death by one grandson, Steven Shultz. Mrs. Shultz was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, where was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a graduate of Huntingdon High School with the Class of 1936. Mrs. Shultz graduated with high honors and was the recipient of the Math Award. She retired from the Huntingdon County Nursing Home with 10 years of service as a nurses aide. Mrs. Shultz enjoyed knitting, reading, watching birds at her bird feeder and flowers and plants. A private graveside service, officiated by the Rev. John C. Dean, will be held at the Old Stone Church Cemetery, Penn Township, James Creek. Florence Erma (Clark) STATES, 91, a resident of Meadowview Manor Retirement Center, McVeytown, since April 1999, and formerly of Huntingdon, died at 3:03 am. Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Her death was unexpected. Born Sept. 19, 1914, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Mary Catherine Marie (Zipf) Clark. She was reared in the home of her grandparents, John and Sarah (Purdy) Clark. She was formerly married to John E. States, whom she married in 1934. Mr. States preceded her in death March 5,1995. Mrs. States is survived by two daughters, Sylvia C. Hurley, Palm Springs, Calif., and Linda M. Busko, Huntingdon, R.R. 2. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Michael K. Hurley, Palm Springs, Calif.; Catherine Hurley. California; Kevin P. Busko and his wife, Mary, Huntingdon; Tim F. Busko and his wife, Rebecca Berdar. Huntingdon; and two great-grandchildren, Sean P. Busko and Ian J. Busko, both of Huntingdon. She is also survived by her faithful friend, Carol Esterline, Huntingdon, as well as many other friends. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Faith. Mrs. States served as secretary to the Huntingdon Chapter of the American Red Cross and was a volunteer for Huntingdon House. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary to the Veterans of WWI. She attended Johnstown public schools and graduated from Johnstown High School with the Class of 1932. She received a nurses aide certificate from J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Mrs. States retired from Elco Corp., Huntingdon, in 1976, after 11 years of service. She was also a nurses aide at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and Owens-Corning Fiberglas, both in Huntingdon. She worked through the PA Green Thumb Program during her retirement years. She enjoyed travel and entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her work in private duty practical nursing. She was a champion elementary jack player in Johnstown. COOPER, 52, of Saxton, died at 11:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Fulton County. Born Feb. 19, 1954, in Huntingdon, he was a son of Margaret (Meshyock) Cooper of James Creek and the late Delmar L. Cooper. He was united in marriage to the former Gail McElwee, Sept. 10, 2005. Mrs. Cooper survives at home. Mr. Cooper is also survived by three brothers and two sisters; Steve Cooper and wife, Sue; James Cooper, and Gary Cooper and wife, Paulette, all of James Creek; Elaine Long and husband, Mike, Pine Ridge; and Kathy Lyons and husband, Ted, Hollidaysburg. He was the "pappy" of Natalie Cooper of Alum Bank. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Charles Cooper; and a brother, David Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a member of the Saxton VFW Post No. 4129, the Saxton Sportsmen’s Association and the American Welding Society. He was a 1972 graduate of Tussey Mountain High School. Mr. Cooper worked for the railroad for a number of years and most recently for L-3 Communications in Letterkenny, Chambersburg. He enjoyed his family and spending time with his granddaughter. He also enjoyed hunting, spending time with his friends, gardening and being with his dog, "Bullwinkle." Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at the Curtis A. GOSS, 93, of Redstone Highlands, Murrysville, and formerly of Churchill, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006. He was the beloved husband of Ruth S. Goss, who survives. Mr. Goss is also survived by two sons; William S. Goss and his wife, Marsha, of Allentown; and Frederic "Derf’ L. Goss and his wife, Christy, of Wilkins Township. He was the loving grandfather of three grandchildren, Cindy Miller, Susan Taylor and Erin Goss. He was a member of the F&AM Mount Moriah Lodge No. 300 and a life member of Syria Temple and Consistory. He was also member of the McKeesport Sportsmen’s Association. Mr. Goss was a 1933 graduate of Shippensburg University, where he was a member of the track team. He was an accountant for U.S. Steel, retiring in 1972. He was an avid sportsman all his life. Born May 8, 1947, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Paul Neal and Savannah (Strait) Neal. She was united in marriage to Clint Corbin, March 21, 1980, in the Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Stone Creek Ridge, by the Rev. Clinton E. Chu. Mr. Corbin survives at their home in Oneida Township. Mrs. Corbin is also survived by a daughter, Brandi Jo Corbin, Hesston. She is also survived by two sisters, Sally Hicks and Nancy Querry, both of Huntingdon; and her father in-law, Clinton D. Corbin, Huntingdon. Mrs. Corbin was of the Methodist faith. She attended Huntingdon Public Schools and was a 1965 graduate of Huntingdon High School. Mrs. Corbin was currently employed as a personal lines senior underwriter for Mutual Benefit Group, Huntingdon, formerly Swigart Associates, where she had worked for 41 years, beginning in 1965. A resident of her current address for over 30 years, she was an avid shopper and enjoyed working outdoors and flower gardening. GARMAN, 60, of Huntingdon, R.R. 3, died at 9:47 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at JC. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born March 26, 1945, in Cass Township, he was a son of the late Jesse and Layo (Nearhood) Garman. He was united in marriage to the former Susan C. Lane, Nov. 22, 1975, in McVeytown. Mrs. Garman survives at their home. Mr. Garman is also survived by four daughters; Christine Peck and Carrie Garman, both of Lewistown; Daryl Germann, Williamsport; and Jessica Garman, McVeytown; and seven grandchildren. "Peggy" CESNICK, 78, of Orlando, Fla. and formerly of Standing Stone Avenue, Huntingdon, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006. Born Feb. 12, 1928, in Wilkensburg, she was united in marriage to Steve Cesnick, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Cesnick is survived by two daughters; Peggy Delgado and Debbie Stelmacki and husband, Eddie, all of Orlando, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Melissa Stelmacki, Orlando, Fla. She is also survived by a sister, Aileen Bender, Madison Heights, Mich. Mrs. Cesnick was a former member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon. She worked at Poser’s Youth Center until the 1980s, when she relocated to Orlando, Fla. Mrs. Cesnick and her husband reared their family in Huntingdon and both of their daughters are graduates of Huntingdon Area High School. FLANIGAN, 85, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at the home. Born Feb. 24, 1921, in Robertsdale, he was a son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Young) Flanigan. He was united in marriage to the former F. Geraldine Chilcote. Nov. 1, 1952. Mrs. Flanigan preceded him in death. Mr. Flanigan is survived by a daughter and two sons; Rachael "Kathy’ Rogers, North Manchester, Md.; Kerry Flanigan, Louisville, Colo.; and Glen Flanigan, Wilmore, Ky.; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother and sister, Robert Flanigan, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon. and Mabel Miller, Stuart, Fla. He was preceded in death by a grandson. Mr. Flanigan served in the United States Air Force. He retired from PennDOT, where had worked as a laborer. Mr. Flanigan resided in Huntingdon for most of his life. No services will be held. Johnson PRICE, 87, formerly of 114 West Market St., Mount Union, and most recently a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, died unexpectedly at 1:22 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Virginia was born on April 27, 1918, in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Myrtle Treaster and was raised by the late Lloyd and Mary Hancock. She was first married to Harold E. Johnson Sr., who preceded her in death on July 25, 1965. Her second marriage was to Thomas G. Price on July 30, 1979, who survives and is a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. She is also survived by her children, Harold E. Johnson Jr. and wife Lois, Belleville, William R. Johnson and wife Virginia, Mount Union, Jerry L. Johnson and wife Eloise, Las Vegas, Nev., Sally Ann Bierley and husband Jon, Bellefonte, Sue Ann Clemens, Newton Hamilton, Charles E. Johnson and wife Carol, Huntingdon, Raymond C. Johnson and wife Lola, McVeytown; two stepchildren, Donna Brenneman, York, David Shisler, Mount Union; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, James H. Johnson, on June 14, 1975; four grandchildren and one great-grandson. Virginia retired in 1980 from J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, where she had worked as a nurse's aide. Her nurse's training was completed at Lewistown Hospital. She very much enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. (Seilhamer) LONG, 76. of 112 Fourth Ave., Altoona, went to be with the Lord.at 9:40 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at her home, following a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 23, 1930, in Altoona, Blair County, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Arvada (Sparks) Seilhamer She was united in marriage to William R. "Bill" Long, July 13, 1974, in Altoona. Mr. Long survives at home. Mrs. Long is also survived by seven children; Sharon Englert and husband, Scott, and Shirley Oakes and husband, George, all of Lancaster; William Winrick and wife, Deborah; Richard Winrich and wife, Anessa; Beverly Paterson and husband, Tom; and John Winrick and wife, Lisa, all of Altoona; and Carol Taddy, Galitzin; 23 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five brothers; Walter Seilhamer and wife, Marge; Harold Seilhamer; Russell Seilhamer and wife, Thelma; and Jerry Seilhamer and wife, Diane, all of Altoona; and David Seilhamer and wife, Ellie Ann, San Antonio, Texas. She. was. preceded in death by a daughter Deborah; two brothers, John and Bernard; and two infant brothers. Mrs. Long was recently baptized at the New Life Baptist Community Church, Altoona. "Dot" DAVIS, 83, a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, and formerly of 13 East Milford St., Mount Union, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at the center. Born July 28, 1922, in Mount Union, she was a daughter of the late Harrison Blair and Sarah (Clinger) Wagner. She was united in marriage to Francis G. "Pete" Davis, Dec. 14, 1945, in the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union, by the Rev. Edgar A. Henry. Mr. Davis preceded her in death March 2, 2001. Mrs. Davis is survived by a brother, Samuel L. Wagner and wife, Sally Jo, Huntingdon. R.R. 4; and a number of nieces and nephews, who were very devoted to her over the years. She was preceded in death by five siblings; Anna Margaret Hancock, Robert Stanley Wagner, Marian McClure, Sarah Jane Dumas and Richard L. Wagner. Mrs. Davis was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Mount Union, where she was involved in the United Methodist Women and belonged to the Do Your Best Sunday School Class. She was a 1940 graduate of Mount Union High School. Well known as a nurse, Mrs. Davis had many years of service in the practices of Dr. C.A.R. McClain and Dr. Fred M. McClain of Mount Union. At one time, she was employed by the G.C. Murphy Co. 5 and 10 Store in Mount Union, the Mount Union Library and the Elizabethtown Hospital for Crippled Children. DETWILER, 76, of Pleasant Hill Road, Burnt Cabins, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born Feb. 27, 1930, in Three Springs, he was a son of the late Zane and Edith Irene (Weaver) Detwiler. He was united in marriage to the former Cordelia M. Murphy April 3, 1954, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Shade Gap, R.R. Mrs. Detwiler survives at home. Mr. Detwiler is also survived by three children; Joan Hunter and husband, Dale, Shippensburg; Barry Detwiler and wife, Patty, Chambersburg; and Dawn Pearson of Burnt Cabins. Five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Detwiler. Mr. Detwiler was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Shade Gap, R.R. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the United States Army. Mr. Detwiler was a member of the Madden-Wennick American Legion Post No. 518, Rockhill. He retired in 1988 from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, after 35 years of service. LEWIS, 87, formerly of 3910 Cold Springs Road, Huntingdon, died at 2:55 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2006. She had resided with her daughter, Janice Morningstar of James Creek, for the past two and one-half years. Born Jan. 29, 1919, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late William M. and Gertrude (Longabaugh) Rohland. She was united in marriage to Cyrus B. Lewis July 17, 1934, in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death March 3, 1988. Mrs. Lewis is survived by three sons and two daughters; James Lewis and Carol E. Stahl and husband, Thomas, all of Alexandria; Janice R. Morningstar and husband, Dean, James Creek; and Michael D. Lewis and wife, Judith, and Mark W Lewis and wife, Gail, all of Huntingdon. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. The last surviving member of her family, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Zerbe; two brothers, John and Clyde Rohland; and three sisters, Ruth Black, Ethel Dysard and Annabelle Rohland. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the 15th Street United Methodist Church, Huntingdon, where she belonged to the Wesleyan Crusaders Sunday School Class. She attended Huntingdon public schools. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Lewis also worked at Owens-Corning Fiberglas and J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, both of Huntingdon, at one time. She enjoyed crafts and gardening and she loved her church. ANSELL, 72, formerly of Three Springs, R.R. 1, entered into eternal rest at 5:03 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born Nov. 7, 1933, at Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late Domenico and Madeline (Dudash) Centi. She was united in marriage to Floyd I. Ansell, Feb. 20, 1952, in Hyattsville, Md. Mr. Ansell preceded her in death Jan. 2, 1991. Mrs. Ansell is survived by four children; Shirley Jackson, Carlisle; Patricia Denison and husband, Clyde, and Joan Ford and husband, Jerry, all of Three Springs, R.R.; and Ronald Ansell and wife, Nichole, Johnstown; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by three brothers, Domenico Centi and V. Wallace Centi, both of Three Springs, R.R.; and August Centi, Somerset. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ansell. (Corcelius) CONCEPSION, 56, of 186 South Dannley Drive, Pine Grove Mills, State College, died at noon Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at her residence. Born Sept. 30, 1949, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of the late James H. and Gladys Irene (Bailey) Corcelius. She was united in marriage to Richard Concepcion Nov. 22, 1970, in the Huntingdon County Courthouse by Judge Morris M. Terrizzi. Mr. Concepcion preceded her in death Sept. 28, 2002. Mrs. Concepcion was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Corcelius. She was a volunteer for Huntingdon County PRIDE and the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Concepcion was a 1967 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School and attended Edinboro College, now Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. A professional graphic artist, she was employed for many years as the art director at Josten’s in State College. Most recently, she was employed by Four Seasons Florist, Huntingdon. Mrs. Concepcion enjoyed drawing, painting and crafts. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the John B.
