FLOOD Miss Iva Laura Flood of Blairs Mills, R.D., passed away at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 1951, at her home. She had been ill for two months. A teacher in Huntingdon County schools during her younger years, Miss Flood was a daughter of Henry and Matilda (Briggs) Flood, both deceased. She was born in Huntingdon County, September 14, 1879. She was a member of the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: T. Chalmers Flood, Mrs. Nannie Cisney, and Mrs. Rosie Parsons, all of Blairs Mills R.D., Chester Flood of Port Royal, R.D., Loy G. Flood of Fannettsburg, Mrs. Flora Gray of Neelyton, and Warren Flood of Silver Springs, Md. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Clarence L. Chubb of Chambersburg, will be held Saturday, at 3 p.m., at the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. She never married but was engaged to the owner of the Shade Gap Feed & Flour Mill, Clarence James Hess, who died from a heart attack while building the home they were to live in after they married.
