FLOOD The subject of this article was born on August 9, 1851 on the farm where most of her life was spent and died at her home near Nossville on March 15, 1921, aged 69 years, seven months and six days. She was united in marriage, September 23, 1869 to Henry Flood, and was the mother of eleven children, who with the husband survive, they are: Mrs. Nannie Cisney, C. T. and T. C., Mrs. E. L. Parson, all of Blairs Mills, R. D., J. D., of Fredericksburg, Pa., Mrs. R. M. Gray of East Waterford, Pa., C. A. of same place, L. G., of Elizabethville, Pa., A. W., of Columbia, Pa., and Miss Iva and Burdette at home. Also 32 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Flood united with the church early in life and was a member of the Salem U. B. Congregation for 55 years and was regular in attendance so long as health permitted. She was a Christian from childhood and it is not strange that in all the years she found great delight in serving the Master and the church as was intensely loyal and had unshaken faith in the victory of the resurrection. The deceased was a good mother, citizen and friend and a community can ill afford to lose such but His ways are not ours. She had been in failing health for some months due to some abnormality of the heart and causes due to advanced age, and no doubt under these conditions had a desire to depart and be with Christ which is far better. Interment took place at Salem cemetery Friday afternoon, March 18th in charge of her pastor, Rev. Weaver. Why should our tears in sorrow flow When God recalls his own. And bids them leave a world of woe For an immortal crown? Their toils are past, their work is done And they are fully blest: They fought the fight, the victory won, And entered into rest. Then let our sorrows cease to flow, God has recalled his own, But let our Hearts in every woe Still say "Thy will be done." - A Friend clipping Additional Comments: Daughter of Washington Jackson & Nancy Jane (Jones) Briggs. Her obit gives her birth date as August 9, 1851, but she appears on the 1850 aged 1 month so it's possible her true birth date was August 9, 1850.
