Mrs. Ettie Myrtle Foster, wife of Walter Foster, of 1615 Washington street, died at 3 o'clock Saturday morning after an illness of over two weeks with influenza and pneumonia. She is survived by her husband and four children - Alice, May, Florence and Calvin - all at home. She is also survived by her father, William Varner, and stepmother, of Washington street beyond Eighth; by one brother, Carlton, and one sister, Mrs. Mary, wife of William Harris, both of Maseysburg; and by six half-brothers and five half-sisters. Besides these, six children of her father's second marriage are dead, which shows that he is the father of the remarkable number of twenty children. The funeral of Mrs. Foster will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, with interment in Riverview cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Tuesday, January 7, 1919, page 7
