Gahagan, 88, formerly of RR2, Allenport, Mount Union, died at 9:05 a.m. on Saturday, June 2 at the Hearthside Manor, State College. She had been in failing health. The funeral service was held on June 6, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Jim Hullihen officiating. She was born April 9, 1919, it Mount Union, a daughter of late Oscar and Eva (Stitt) Beatty. She married Samuel F. Gahagan on October 15, 1937 in the Brethrer Parsonage, Winchester, VA by Rev. Norman Uphouse. He died on February 27, 2005. Mrs. Gahagan is survived by two adopted daughters: Raylene Forlines and husband Sam of Mount Union and Janice Porter of Mount Union. Also surviving are three brothers and a sister: Blaine Beatty and wife Evelyn of Pinewood Acres, Mount Union; Dale Beatty and wife Jackie of Cranbury, NJ; Maxine Bliss and husband Gerald of Morrisville and Paul Beatty and wife, Raenelle of Mt. Airy, MD. Mr. Gahagan was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Genevieve Matteson; Ray Beatty; Helen Beatty and Theodore Beatty. She worked for many years for L. Grief Bros. Mfg and Genesco Corp. both of Mount Union. She was past president and held various other offices in the Women' s Democratic Society. Mrs. Gahagan also enjoyed sewing and making bead jewelry and crafts. She was a member of the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren, Hill Valley, where in her early years she was very active.
