George, age 89, formerly of Hill Valley, RD1, Mount Union, fought his last fight on God's earth on Sunday, September 10, at the Valley View Haven, Belleville, where he has resided since his retirement. On that day he went to be with our Lord. Now he fights in God's army. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, at the Epiphany of Our Lord Orthodox Church, Huntingdon. Officiating will be Rev. Father John Klein and interment will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery, Huntingdon. Friends may call at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a Parastas service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home Wednesday. He was born July 17, 1917 in Mount Union, the son of the late Frank and Mary Horchuck. He married Bernice E. (Clark) George on August 7, 1958. They were divorced on June 20, 1975; she resides in Huntingdon. Mr. George is survived by a daughter; Vickiy Morgan and husband Carl M. "Michael" of Mount Union. There are two grandchildren: Monica Jayne Morgan, of Jacksonville, FL and Colin Peter Morgan, a student at Nova St. Eastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, A sister and a brother also survive: Sophia Krut of Belleville and Frank Stasenko and wife Ellen of Kistler. Also, numerous nieces and nephews survive in PA, Ohio, Michigan and NY. Mr. George attended Mount Union Schools and then moved to Ohio where for seven years he worked in Youngstown, Ohio for Carnegie, Republic Steel and Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He served 16 years in the Merchant Marines, sailing worldwide and on the Great Lakes. He passed through the Panama Canal 50 times. He also served as a gunner on oil tankers for the US Navy during WWII. Mr. George returned to Mount Union and in 1955 purchased the Hill Valley Hotel, a popular and widely known country tavern, which he operated for a half a century. He was the owner and operator of Hill Valley Mobile Homes for nine years, specializing in both mobile and modular homes. He also raised cattle, hogs and farmed in Hill Valley for five years. He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Orthodox Church in Huntingdon. Memorials can be made to Epiphany of Our Lord Orthodox Church, East Penn Street, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
