Gimmi, 64, of 8066 Scenic Drive, Shippensburg, died Sunday, February 3, in Hershey Medical Center. Funeral service was held Thursday, February 7 at the Memorial Lutheran Church. Rev. Robert Seibold officiated. Burial was made in Spring Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc. of Shippensburg. She was born September 19, 1943 in Baltimore, MD and she was a daughter of Jeanne Goodman Kooken, Mount Union and the late John Kooken. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert D. Gimmi. Also three daughters, Victoria K. Wright and Heather A. Gimmi, both of Shippensburg and Kristen G. Weekley of St. Mary's, WV. Seven grandchildren, Alexandria L. Gimmi; Bree E. Wright; Keenan S. Wright; Jordan M. Wineriter, Madison I. Winerite; C. Atticus Weekley and Wyatt R. Byers. Also surviving are two brothers and one sister: James S. Kooken and John B. Kooken both of Mount Union and Elizabeth A. Diana of Massillon, OH. Mrs. Gimmi was a 1961 graduate of the Captain Jack High School, Mount Union and a 1965 graduate of Shippensburg University, where she received the Exceptional Service Award from the Shippensburg University General Alumni Association in 1995. She worked from 1979 until her retirement in 2004 as an elementary school librarian in the Shippensburg Area School District, last working at James Burd Elementary School. Earlier in her life she worked in the Juniata Valley School District and the Chambersburg Area School District. She was president of the Shippensburg Education Association from 1996 until 2000 and was a member of the Cumberland County Library Association and the PA School Library Association. Mrs. Gimmi was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, where she was Rainbow Choir Director; a member of the Senior Choir; a Luther League youth leader and taught Sunday School and Bible School. Over the years she coached Little League Girls Softball and Midget Basketball Cheerleading; was on the Board of Directors of the Shippensburg Little League and coordinator of fund raising of the Little League; was troop leader of Brownie Troop #613; an honorary member and Ladies Auxiliary member of West End Fire and Rescue and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Durff-Kuhn VFW Post #6168.
