Tuesday, March 2, 1971; p2. Lawrence Reed Grossman of West Township, Petersburg R. D. 1 died early this morning, Tuesday, March 2, 1971 at 5:10 o’clock in the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Grossman, 78, had been in failing health for the past six months and a patient of the hospital since Sunday, February 28. Born in Barree Township on January 12, 1893, he was a son of James B. and Jennie (McCrum) Grossman. He was married to Martha Hutchison at Cumberland, Md. On May 9, 1914. His wife survives along with these children: James Edward Grossman, Emlenton; Mrs. Fay (Florine) Wilson, Belleville R. D and Mrs. Vance (Virginia) Thompson, Petersburg R. D. 1. There are seven grandchildren and three great- grandchildren surviving. The deceased was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by one brother. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He had been engaged in farming in the Shavers Creek Valley throughout his lifetime. He retired in 1958. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, at 2 p.m. from the Grove funeral home, Alexandria. The Rev. William W. Kaufman and the Rev. George F. Holland will officiate. Interment will be made in Mooresville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services.
