Gutshall, a native of Springfield township, this county, was born Jun 10, 1850, and died October 2, at the age of 68 years. He was born, lived and died in Springfield township, with the exception of eight years which time he resided in Fulton county. He was a farmer. Deceased was married on November 2, 1871, to Miss Jennie Price, of Clay township. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and three children, namely: Tillie, Mrs. Wm. Hammond, of Saltillo; Mrs. Bertha Berkstresser, of Maddensville, and Russell Gutshall, of near Mount Union. There were ten children born to this union, seven of whom are deceased. Five grandchildren also survive, the oldest being J. Arthur Hammond, of Saltillo, now in the service of his country. Miss Kletha Hammond, of Saltillo, telephone operator, and John H., the deceased's namesake, and also Robert and Richard Berkstresser, of Maddensville, are numbered among the grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters survive: Mrs. Mary Miller and Lincoln, both of Clay township; Mrs. Louie Madden and W. S. Gutshall, of Springfield township: Mrs. Orleanah Crotsley, of Cromwell township, and Mrs. Rachel Runk, of Three Springs. The Huntingdon Globe, Thursday, October 24, 1918
