Horn Farmer, avid hunter and fisherman Roy F. Horn, 71, of R.D. 1, Box 1116, Mount Union, died at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 1995, in the Lewistown Hospital, following an extended illness. Born January 16, 1924, in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Josiah R. and Keturah (Cramer) Horn. He was twice married: first to the former Edith Irene Yohn, who died January 2, 1976; then to Ruth (Himes) Druckenmiller. Surviving are his wife, at their home; a son, Dennis Roy Horn, of Mount Union R.D. 1; three stepchildren: James Reichenbach of Clarksburg, Robert Reichenbach of Lewistown R.D. 3 and Mary Logan, Mifflintown R.R. 3; and 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Josiah Horn of Mount Union R.D. 1, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Pollock, Silverford Heights (Mount Union R.D. 1) and Ida Mae Swartz, McVeytown R.D. 1. Preceding him in death were a son, Randy Joe Horn, on August 2, 1976, and eight brothers and sisters: Charles Horn, Russell Horn, Francis Horn, John Horn, Beulah "Boots" Clymans, Samuel Horn, Glenn Horn and Robert Horn. Mr. Horn was a member of Sugar Run Church of the Brethren, Mount Union R.D. 1. He was also a life member of Blue Juniata Post 5754, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mount Union, and a former member of Port Shirley Lions Club and Newtown-Wayne Sportsmen's Association. Throughout his life, Mr. Horn engaged in farming. In addition, he was employed at Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, Md., retiring in 1976, after 23 1/2 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Horn, who was educated in the Shirley Township and Mount Union schools, was a veteran of World War II, having served as a sergeant with the U.S. Army's Laundry Detachment in the South Pacific, the Philippines, Luzon and New Guinea. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. John B. Johnson and the Rev. Roy Myers officiating. Interment will be in Germany Valley Cemetery, Shirleysburg R.D. 1. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, form 6-9 p.m., and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the services.
