Hammond, 86, formerly of 123 Green St., Mount Union, died at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, where she had been a resident for the past six months due to failing health. Born Aug. 5, 1919, in Mill Creek, she was a daughter of the late William and Annie Parks. She was united in marriage twice: first to John Hampton and then to Roy Hammond. Both Mr. Hampton and Mr. Hammond preceded her in death. Mrs. Hammond is survived by four children, John "Junior" Hampton and wife, Helen, Mount Union; Joanne Walters and husband, Cliff, Reedsville; and Gary Hampton and Dorothy Hollibaugh, both of Mount Union; and 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Ethel Lear, Huntingdon. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Morder, and eight siblings, Wilbert Parks, Lizzie Morningstar, Nancy Parks, Walter Parks, Christina Finkle, Fred Parks, Robert Parks, and Tillie Parks. Mrs. Hammond was of the Protestant faith. She previously worked at both Robin Footwear, Mount Union, and Owens- Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Gordon Ross officiating. Interment will be made in the Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to Saturday's services. The Daily News, Huntingdon, PA, June 23, 2006.
