Death, the common leveler, entered his home and took from him his bosom companion, leaving him with three small children to battle with the cold, cold world. As Mr. Hampton is a poor man, but honorable, the boys raised him a nice little sum to help defray the funeral expenses. This is as it should always be. It is but a small loss to the giver but a great help to the receiver. Besides, it is written in the Bible, and on the clouds, and in the little flower, that the Lord loves a cheerful giver. Daily Herald, Tyrone, Pa., August 30, 1888 Note: This is probably the first wife of William Edmund Hampton, s/o Elijah Hampton. 1870 Franklin Township, Huntingdon County census - Elija Hampton, 33, forgeman Anna C.
