"Pete" Hancock, Jr., 78. of Dillsburg, passed away Saturday, July 15, at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, PA with his family, wife, son, and daughter-in-law by his side. Funeral Services were held Thursday, July 20, at the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. Entombment followed with military honors in the Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. He was born April 20, 1928 in Mount Union, PA the son of the late Charles R., Sr. and Mary Catherine (Long) Hancock. Mr. Hancock is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sarah E. (Schenck) Hancock; his only son and best buddy, Charles R. Hancock, III and his dearly loved daughter-in-law Sherry; his only granddaughter, Holly, who he loved and enjoyed; his big brother, Paul and dear wife Sandra of Belleville; his loving sisters, Betty Smith, Emmabelle Wagner, and Nancy Secrest and her husband Charles, all of Lewistown; many nephews and nieces, close cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elenior Buffington. Mr. Hancock was a used-car dealer for 49 years, 44 of them in the Dillsburg area. He was a member of the American Legion Post #26 and the V.F.W. Post #6771 both of Dillsburg. He also was a member of the Steelton Moose. Mr. Hancock served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a street rod fanatic and enjoyed antique automobiles. His greatest pleasure was driving his street rods, working on his antique cars and going to Carlisle and the York Street Nationals. Mr. Hancock had many friends and was well liked by all who knew him. He was a people person and enjoyed being around crowds of people. He could walk into a room of strangers and when he left they were all his friends. He had a magnetic personally and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
