Fred Harmon, a well known former resident of Huntingdon, died at his home in Newark, N.J., on Monday night between 9 and 10 o'clock from influenza which developed into pleurisy and bronchial pneumonia. He was aged about 36 years and was born in England where two of his brothers still live. He came to Huntingdon some years ago, his sister, Mrs. John Buffery, being here and after marrying Mrs. Hamer, daughter of William Fraker, of McConnellstown and widow of Scott Hamer, soon afterward succeeded his sister in the ownership of the New York novelty store. He at the same time worked on the H. & B.T. rail, later on the Pennsylvania railroad. Two years ago this coming March they left Huntingdon, making their home in Newart, where Mr. Harmon was employed on the Pennsylvania railroad until the time of his demise. He is survived by his wife, stepson, Percy Hamer, five sisters and two brothers. The brothers have been mentioned as living in England. The sisters all live in the eastern part of the United States, Mrs. John Buffery resides at 1411 Oneida street, and with whom the mother, Mrs. Harmon makes her home. The body will be brought to Huntingdon and taken to the church at McConnellstown where services will be held this afternoon, with interment in McConnellstown cemetery. Mr. Harmon was a member of Rev. Ross Wicks' church in Newark. He was also a member of Juniata lodge, No. 117, I.O.O.F., of Huntingdon, fraternal brethren of the organization acting as pall bearers and performing their rites at the grave.
