Tuesday, August 27, 1957; p11. County Native Found Dead In Harrisburg A native of Three Springs and long-time resident of Wood, Mrs. Sybil L. Hawley of 912 North Third Street, Harrisburg, was found dead in her apartment on Sunday, August 25, 1957. The Dauphin County coroner determined the time of death as Sunday, August 18, 1957. Mrs. Hawley was found by neighbors after they missed seeing her. The body was partially decomposed. Mrs. Hawley was born March 29, 1888, at Three Springs, a daughter of William and Mary Jane (Moffet) Lane. She is survived by the following children: Malcolm Hawley, Monroeville; Mrs. James Whitfield, Altoona; Mrs. Ernest Ambrose, Huntingdon; Mrs. Manuel Evans, Bakerstown and Mrs. Robert Corrie, Pittsburgh. There are 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Minerva Leighton, Orbisonia, and Mrs. Mertie Rorar, Newburg. The deceased was a member of the Methodist Church at Wood and a member of the Everready Sunday School Class of the First EUB Church, Harrisburg. She was employed at the cafeteria at the state capital. Most of her life was spent in Wood. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 28, at 2 p.m. from the Masood funeral chapel, Saxton. The Rev. R. A. Zimmerman, pastor of the Lakemont Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Old School Baptist Cemetery at Three Springs. There will be no viewing.
