Hazzard, Sr., 85 of Warriors Mark died Dec. 16, 2004 at Altoona Hospital following an extended illness. He was born Nov. 9, 1919 at Moshannon; the son of Sarah (Cartwright) Hazzard and Albert Hazzard. On Sept. 30, 1945, in Warriors Mark, he married Maude B. Harpster, who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters: Donna L. and husband David Reeder of Julian, Grace E. and husband David Caslow of Osceola Mills and a son, John W. Hazzard Jr. and wife Beverly of Snydertown. Mr. Hazzard, Sr. is also survived by nine grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was a member of the Halfmoon Christian Fellowship Church, Stormstown He was an World War II Army veteran serving from 1940 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater. He had been in the Civilian Conservation Corp before joining the army. He was a member of the Warriors Mark-Franklin Volunteer Fire Co. where he served as past secretary and was a member of the Fire Police unit. He was also a past member of the Warriors Mark Grange. He had worked as a painter and then the Tyrone Area School District in Warriors Mark in the custodial department, retiring in 1984. Friends will be received at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark on Sunday, Dec. 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. William Baughman officiating. Burial will be at the Burket Cemetery in Warriors Mark Township.
