Shirley St., Mount Union, died at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 1970, in Altoona Hospital, where he was admitted Thursday after a brief illness. He was born at Crystal Springs Nov. 21, 1901, a son of Frank and Alice (Bottomfield) Hixson, and was twice married; first Jan. 7, 1920, to Audrey M. Kline, who died in 1958, then Oct. 28, 1959, to Emma Grace Campbell Shope. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Melvin Glaeser of Baltimore, Md.; two grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Blanch Ramsey of Levittown, and Mrs. Floris Yundt of Lakemont. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Union, serving on the administration board, as secretary-treasurer of trustees, chairman of the pastoral relations committee and in the Methodist Men's Association. Mr. Hixson was a charter member and past president of the Huntingdon Lions Club, member of Mount Moriah Lodge, F&AM, Standing Stone Royal Arch Chapter, Huntingdon KT, and Harrisburg Consistory. He moved to Huntingdon in 1930 and conducted the Hixson stationary store there until retirement in 1960, moving to Mount Union in 1958.
