Mr. Hoffman had been in the employ of the P.R.R. Company for nearly 30 years and at the time he met his death, was engaged as a track hand. While walking on the south track, the Mail Express West, which was compelled to use that track on account of a wreck, struck him and killed him instantly, crushing his head terribly and otherwise mutilating his body. The deceased was about 65 years of age, and he leaves a wife and five children to mourn his tragic death. Huntingdon Journal, Huntingdon, Pa., March 17, 1882
