He was the son of Henry (deceased) and Mrs. Amy B. Honstine, and was born in Huntingdon on July 30, 1892. He left Huntingdon with Company F, 8th Regiment in Sept. 1917, and was discharged from the company on July 24, 1918. Previous to leaving with Company F, he had been afflicted with typhoid fever, and at the time of the Company leaving here, he had just been removed from the Blair Memorial Hospital where he spent seven weeks. He was sick during his entire time at camp, and later sustained a slight stroke of paralysis which affected his one side and also his speech. About three weeks ago he was removed to the University Hospital in Philadelphia, where the physicians and friends had planned to operate on him for a tumor of the brain, but the tumor was so located that the operation could not be performed. Previous to enlisting, he had been employed in the P.R.R. freight transfer in this place. Robert Bruce Honstine was the youngest of the family, and is survived by his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Joseph A., James, David, Mrs. Clara Feltenberger, and Mrs. Lilly Spangler, all of Huntingdon. Following his death, the body was brought to Huntingdon, where funeral services were held with interment in Riverview cemetery. Altoona Times, Tuesday Morning, October 8, 1918
