Travelers to and from Tyrone were startled on Saturday afternoon about 2.25 o'clock at the station when an aged man toppled over and died almost instantly. Hezekiah Hooper, aged 71, and residing at Hill Valley, near Mt. Union, was on his way to Altoona to visit his son. He boarded the train at Halifax, Pa., and at Mt. Union was met by his niece, Mrs. Mary Mamman. When nearing Tyrone Mr. Hooper became quite ill with a burning sensation around his heart and stomach and suggested to his niece that he thought the fresh air and a little walk would relieve him. So it was decided that instead of going on to Altoona they would get off here and try the fresh air cure, which had often proved beneficial before. Mr. Hooper and his niece walked through the subway and gained the platform. At the head of the steps he stated he felt better and asker her to remain at the station while he walked over town. He only traveled two or three steps until he toppled over and died almost instantly. Death was due to heart disease physicians declared. Coroner W. T. Blackburn was summoned and decided that an inquest was unnecessary. Later the remains were prepared for burial by Undertaker Graham of Tyrone, and the niece accompanied it to Altoona.
