Hoover Dies Suddenly Of Heart Attack The Rev. Horace E. Hoover, pastor of the Birmingham Presbyterian church and teacher of piano in the Grier school, Birmingham, died suddenly Saturday evening, July 25, 1942, at 7 o'clock while calling at the home of a parishioner, Miss Clara J. Henderson, Eden Hill. Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Hoover had been seen up and about through the day and had not complained of being ill. Horace E. Hoover was born April 21, 1896, at Piedmont, W.Va., a son of George N. and Hannah (Null) Hoover. On August 7, 1923, at Allison Park, Pa., he was united in marriage with Maida Schrader. He is survived by his wife and parents; one son, John Schrader Hoover, Eden Hill; also these brothers and sisters: George N. Hoover, Jr., and William Hoover, of Mechanicsville, N.Y.; John Hoover, Charleston, S.C.; Mrs. Charles Oddack and Miss Eva Mae Hoover, St. Petersburg, Fla. Rev. Hoover was graduated from the Piedmont High school in 1914; from Grove City College in 1918, and from Princeton seminary in 1921. His first assignment was that of director of religious education in the South Presbyterian church of Syracuse, N.Y., and it was during this time, he was ordained to the Presbyterian ministry. He came to Birmingham in April, 1924, as minister of the Birmingham Presbyterian church, and as assistant to the Rev. Mr. Downs, minister of the First Presbyterian church of Tyrone holding the latter assignment for one year. He had continued as minister of the Birmingham church, and also was teacher of piano in the Grier school at Birmingham for many years. He studied music at the Eastman Conservatory of Music, Syracuse, N.Y., and also at Princeton University. He was an accomplished organist and pianist, and was ever willing to lend of his talents for church and other occasions. Funeral services will be held from the Birmingham Presbyterian Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of the Rev. Ralph Illingsworth, assisted by the Rev. Julian Parks. Interment in the Presbyterian cemetery, Birmingham. Friends are being received at the home after 10 o'clock this morning. Daily News, Huntingdon, Pa., July 27, 1942
